I went from no editing experience straight into Davinci Resolve. I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this but Blackmagic’s own instructional videos are great.

Just switched over myself a few weeks ago. Matti, just a heads up you can install a GYROFLOW plugin directly into resolve to stabilize your FPV footage. Works great! Can drop the plug-in effect right onto your clip. Did a video on it if you want to check it out. Think you’ll use this one for your FPV shots. 👍👍👍

So good to finally see the bigger KZfaqrs making the switch over! I've been on Resolve Studio for the past 4 years and love it! It literally gets exponentially better with every new release too!

I’ve been using Davinci for the last 4 years. Found it to be an all-in-one tool with no monthly membership, developed by a company specialized in video filming and editing. That is the main reason to use it. Also, there are tons of content in KZfaq dedicated to coloring, effects and sound

I’ve been using Resolve for a few years and really like it. It was my move into “real” editing after outgrowing iMovie. Having never used Premiere or Final Cut I can’t speak to a comparison.

Super excited you are helping bring awareness about DaVinci Resolve to more people! The more people that get to use this awesome software and join the community the better! Rock on Matti!

I made the switch in 2020 during the pandemic. It was something I definitely do not regret. I feel like I learn something new with it everyday, and even with the few crashes I have had, doesn't even come close to what I experienced on premiere pro.

I switched from Premiere to Resolve about a year ago and super happy I did. It only gets better as you get more familiar with the program.

i just started using Resolve. absolute powerhouse. the fact that there is a free version that has almost everything as the paid version is insane. Resolve it super easy to get started with and i love that one can work on video, audio, visual effects and whatnot, all in a single app. i love it just so so much.

Great video. Please don't sleep on the Fusion page. It's a lot less popular than AE but it has been around actually for longer than AE and been used in thousands of movies and TV shows for compositing. It's node based so it has a learning curve if you're coming from AE but once you go nodes, there's no coming back.

Using the free version of Davinci currently. New to video editing, and pretty happy with my progress so far. But I find the colour grading process to be the hardest thing to learn. Could be that there are just so many capabilities in the program and I'm searching for just the basics at this point.

I switched to Resolve after watching your last video about it and I'm super happy with it. I watched a whole bunch of tutorials and now I'm pretty confident with it but I feel like there's so much more power for me to unlock there with the Fusion tab and Fairlight etc. As someone who has used Premiere for the last 12ish years, I totally recommend people at least give Resolve a legitimate try.

DVR for the win. Being free made it a no brainer for someone getting into editing for the first time, because I figured that if I didn't like it or found something better, then it wasn't going to cost me anything to switch - plus I could learn a lot of the principles that you can take to any software later. Spoiler: I'm still using DVR and have now upgraded to the paid-for Studio version as it offers so many amazing tools such as the magic mask.

So as I see everyone move in this direction, I can see that this is a better future, as I always roundtrip for color work...I just have to block off the time to learn to edit in Resolve. Thanks for sharing.

I've edited almost exclusively on Resolve Studio (the paid version is absolutely where it's at) for the last couple years and never once regretted it. They've turned the whole industry subscription model on it's head. Better than Premier and FCP in every way.

CST is very powerful. You can also kind of ignore it too if you use colour management so it’s does all of it automatically under the hood. Def worth exploring too!
I'm switching to Davinci Resolve... why now?
