One more issue is that the owner of the company, has another company where a Kickstarter has not been delivered yet for some years, and no updates for months. So this looks that it this Kickstarter is to finance the uncompleted other Kickstarter. Watch the King of Average for information on this issue. SO RED FLAG!!!

No rulebook and no playthrough/how-to-play/rules overview video combine for a very sketchy proposition. I need to get a better idea of how the game plays to know if I'll even like it. As such, I backed Terraria at the 1 euro level just to keep an eye on it but I'm pretty confident I'll cancel my pledge before the campaign is over. Also, as someone who was one of the lucky ones who actually got my Darkest Dungeon game from Mythic Games (before all of the mess went down and to think I just got the core pledge without all the extras and expansions), I'm now very wary of IP games, especially if they're this expensive. If that wasn't enough, to this day, I still haven't played the Darkest Dungeon because it was early on in my journey into the hobby. An expensive lesson indeed.

It doesn’t look that fun to me, but since my friend and I played the video game I was thinking about picking up the base game for us to play. The price tag for it made me dismiss it altogether.

Unlike Marvel Zombies, the IP worked in my favor in this case. I have no experience with the video game so I'm unwilling to pay the IP tax. If it's a great game I'll pick it up at retail. Thanks for the video!

Given the IP and funds raised, there is a high likelihood this will be on retail shelves. Will wait until then to make a decision.

Here are two simple examples of how board games must greatly differ from a "similar" video game: travel and grinding. In a video game, perhaps you have to spend 5 minutes to get to point B. You carefully maneuver your cursor, and meanwhile, you get to view a video travelog in the background that is interesting, and possibly dangerous. In boardgames, travel is usually one or more transactions. There can't be anything that fires the imagination like that video background. Now suppose the video game requires you to find and kill 50 grulffs. This is a repetitive task with small variations that exercise your reflexes. Fun! When a boardgame makes you kill a long series of enemies, the same parts of your brain are not activated, and the repetitiveness quickly gets boring. -Toby

Gotta say toby, respectfully I have basically the opposite opinion. Having played Terraria for a long time, travelling for 5 minutes is possibly my least favorite part of the game. Getting that distilled down into a transaction like you say would let me focus a lot more on the interesting part. Your point of grinding is pretty good, but if you want that type of gameplay I feel like just playing the game is the easy way to go

Trudvang legends is the one I'm thinking of, they just decided it wasn't good and took an additional year to rework it. Ankh was one that changed decently in the merge god rules which probably made them more balanced but a bit less fun in my opinion

First definitely agree about Carly's video being very important. Haven't backed yet but this gave the most information about the game and made me interested. I would argue that reason 1 and 4 need to be switched. Because I think that reason 1 kind of leads into some of the problems addressed in 4 with the "company" showing signs of not learning from their past. Launching a new campaign without a rulebook or at least one play through video when you have a history of not being not delivering on an earlier project is a huge red flag. It just seems like bad business to me. This combined with the fact that they never mentioned that they were the same company.Almost seems like they thought nobody would make the connection. Which is even worse. I really wanna back this game. But I am holding out for the rulebook. Not so much, because I want to read through it and understand the game completely, I am in for the IP. It's more for assurance that they are actually more prepared than they currently seem to be.

Number 1 is my reason not to back! Backed day 1 because it looked like the board game would capture the IP (which we love), but still wouldn't have without Carley's video. If there isn't a rulebook/walkthrough by the end I'll have to sit the wife down with this video and see if we're staying in.

I definitely felt, saw, and smelled the Red Flags with this game. It will probably be "fine" but don't rush to get it. I really like that Slay the Spire boardgame but I would HATE how fiddly it can be. That's why I play it strictly on TTS. I think Terraria the BG will also be good on TTS or BG Arena.

Yeah I expected more gameplay mechanic reasons for not to back, but it totally made sense that you touched up about non gameplay elements more because all we got from the campaign so far are pretty pictures! Was thinking about backing, but probably will skip this. Makes me more interested to try out the game if anything. Edit: I just checked out a review of the game, and I'll probably pass as well haha. Nothing against it, I just have many other games that scratch the same. Itch.

Koa is clickbait and I never can watch him or other clickbait again (see Liege as well). It’s exhausting trying to figure out what’s relevant to me when everything is always the most important video ever…… I own Senjutsu all in and have it in my collection right now. They were a small company and had delays but did deliver everything as promised. I had no problem with their campaign. I love how much heart was put into the game even if it’s on the lighter side

In his righteous anger, I think Michael King may have overlooked a simple reason to worry that the Terraria game might get into financial trouble: As King discovered, the Principal Person is already involved in a game that got into money trouble. Has this person learned from his mistakes? Most people don't. Is he bad a managing money? Is he poor at estimating how much he needs? There could be an increased risk of similar errors while developing Terraria. -Toby

So people think that the creator made a dummy company.... to launch another KS..... to fund the finish and delivery of a several year old previous KS game..... and there's a hot IP..... $1,000,000 raised..... and 0 rulebook.... no gameplay footage.... just a couple of their friends telling everyone how great it is.... I must have misheard you when I thought you said that this didn't carry any of the red flags that seem like everything isn't 100% above board????

Senjutsu funded November 2021 with an estimated fulfillment date of May 2022. So it is 2 years late, not "several". And his #1 reason is literally the missing rulebook. Methinks someone didn't watch the whole video...

@@Carlos52024 Me thinks someone should look up the definition of several. And I was specifically talking about his response to whether or not there was anything hinky about a company with an overdue KS being involved in this. Reading comprehension anyone?
