The person who is asked first, tells the colour that she sees on the others hair. Then the other person says the same color. That way even if the first person is wrong the second will definitely be correct . That way elsa won't marry the king and they will leave with atleast the Pearl necklace

I don't know if either review realize this but there was a such thing as grandfather clocks they do not use electricity so they used Springs that you can wind up and as for the open there was a such thing as cold based ovens where you have a fire underneath it that heats a layer of plaster that's in between the food and the actual coal

5:05 When people talk about getting a raise they mean a raise in their hourly wages or their yearly salary, unless otherwise stated. So if someone was promised a starting salary of $180,000 and a raise of $5000 every six months, that would mean that the yearly salary would be going up by $5000 every six months. That means that for the first six months they would earn half of $180,000 = $90,000. But then their yearly salary would be raised to $185,000. So in the next six months they would earn half of $185,000 = $92,500, not $95,000. And so on. For the second half of the third year, they would earn half of $205,000 = $102,500, not $115,000. Total earnings for 3 years would be $577,500, not $615,000.

Question #2 was not explained correctly. They never clarified that the initial 180k was paid in 2 parts. They only clarified that the 5k raise would be given once every 6 months. Therefore the question was misleading due to the inadequate explanation.

Jossua First of all, that doesn't make sense. 180k is more then enough to live comfortably on for a year. Secondly, I was thinking he would get paid 180k in total for the first year, he wouldn't get it all at once, it would come in a series of pay checks. And then every six months after the initial year he would earn an extra 5k. That was the way it was explained. Or at least that's what it sounded like to me. That's why the explanation was inadequate cause it lead me to believe that the 5k raise every six months and the initial 180k for the first year were individual of eachother. And if they were separate then the 20k raise a year job is by simple Math, much better. 5k every half a year = 10k a year which is half of what you'd get if you took the first job. But because of the order in which he got his 5k raise, the second job will earn you more money as explained in the video.

azuan sofian azuan sofian correct me if im wrong. Here's what i think. He said that annual salary. Doesn't it mean that you will have a raise after 1 year? So here's what i've come up with 1st company. Year 1 = 180k Year 2 = 200k Year 3 = 220k Total of 600k 2nd company Year 1 = 180k (90k + 90k) Year 2 = 195k (95k +100k) Year 3 = 205k (105k + 110k) Total of 580. That's what i think.. Atleast. Or Is it posible to get a raise after 6 months even if your contract says 180k starting year. I'm new to industry so i don't know about salaries.

Alternative answer for 3: put the cake in the oven; turn both hourglasses down; after seven minutes, turn down the 7-minute hourglass again; after the remaining four minutes of the 11-minute goes down, rotate the 7-minutes hourglass again to get another four minutes. 7 + 4 + 4 = 15 minutes and you don't spend extra 7 minutes before putting the cake in the oven.

Answer to last riddle is really simple.. Both sisters could see each others ribbons.. In order to win the deal either one of their answer has to be right.. So they would have agreed that one sister will always say opposite colour of the ribbon she sees on her sister and other sister will say the exact same colour of the ribbon she sees on her sister... So if we see all 4 scenarios.Let say they agree that S1 will always say opposite of what she sees and S2 will always say same colour that she sees:- 1. S1 is having yellow S2 is having red S1 will say yellow (opposite of red) which is right answer S2 will say yellow which is wrong answer In this case S1 will get pearl necklace 2. S1 is having red S2 is having yellow S1 will say red (opposite of yellow) which is right answer S2 will say red which is wrong answer In this case also S1 is right and will get pearl necklace 3. S1 is having red S2 is having red S1 will say yellow(opposite of red) which is wrong S2 will say red which is right In this case S2 is right so she will get pearl necklace 4. S1 is having yellow S2 is having yellow S1 will say red (opposite of yellow)which is wrong S2 will say yellow which is right In this case S2 is right and will get pearl necklace. :)

I enjoy your answer, it removes chance and accounts for either of the two to go first. It produces a 100% chance of minor prize victory. However another strategy incorporates a garbage guess as an information vector. If the first one to speak states the color matching their partner then they have a 50/50 shot of being right, however since the second one just heard the color of their ribbon spoken they guess the same thing and are always right. This pushes the odds from 100% minor prize to 50/50 minor/grand

The wine. Both of them drink the red wine when the other has a red ribbon and don't when yellow. The king can't rule that as a sign because it is a feast and people can have different tastes. This is considering that they had enough free time to discuss the plan or if Elsa was smart enough. But she was smart enough to bring the Gerda so she's probably smart enough. EDIT: Watched that part again and yes, they had a conversation, making the theory all the more plausible. EDIT 2: James Brooks gave the most plausible answer. The first one gives the guess of the other's ribbon colour and the other, knowing that, just has to give the same answer. EDIT 3: look on to behemoth's reply. The eighth one.

Wow, riddle 2 is completely wrong. The first company is definitely better. As an accountant, it is baffling that company 2 would pay a full year’s portion for only half a year. The second payment would be $92,500. A salary is a yearly wage. The frequency of payment does not affect the amount paid. If I said I’ll give you $100 over the course of 100 days, and I’ll increase your pay $1 every day, on the fifth day, I would pay you $1.04. Because your 100 day wage increased to $104/100 days. I’m not going to pay you $5 on day five. Breaking the payments into days instead of 6 month periods really helps highlight the massive flaw in their math.

ShinyBroney Vlogs and More I doubt you’re intellectually challenged. But I can definitely explain more. A salary is a yearly wage. It is typically paid in 2-week increments. But, it can be paid out in whatever increments desired and still come out to the yearly salary. So when they say the salary increases $5,000 every six months, that means the total amount paid over a year increases by $5,000. HOWEVER, you would only be paid for the portion of the salary. In this case the portion is 6 months. They got the first 6 months correct. $180,000 / 2 (6 month payment sections) = $90,000 for the first 6 months. Now after that initial 6 months, you get a $5000 raise added to your salary. Your salary is now $185,000. For the second payment we do: $185,000 / 2 (6 month payment sections) = $92,500 The total for the year is now $182,500. This is because you only had a $5,000 raise for half the year. In this riddle, they paid $185,000 for the first year which means you actually had the $5,000 raise from the beginning. And that is incorrect.

Yes, the anwser to the 2. riddle is wrong. When the yearly sallery is increesed by 5,000. The half-year sallery is insceesed by 2,500, not 5,000. This means the 2. offer will give your: 90,000 / 92,500 95,000 / 97,500 100,000 / 102,500 577,500 compounded over 3 years, which is less than the 600,000 the 1. offer gave. The 2. offer is only better if you work beteen 7 and 14 months. Because you get your lower raiser quicker. Thinking a little too hard. They could have easily looked into the glass sitting in the table or the silverware. Both would be much easier to see a reflection. Plus you’re supposed to manipulate these utensils. Basically, they used one of these two as a self made mirror.

I think you would see the ribbon on a spoon the best. That's why they're having dinner. If they were playing chess or cards then maybe the crown but it's gold you can't really see colors but he was sitting too far for that.

...Everyone in this comments section is REALLY overthinking the final riddle. They're not allowed to give each other hints while eating dinner, but they talked it over after hearing the rules. All Gerda had to do is say, "just guess that your ribbon is whatever color mine is". Even if Elsa is wrong about her ribbon's color, Gerda knows for certain what color hers is, so they're at the very least a pearl necklace richer.

For riddle 5, the girls use hand coding. Both girls know what is each others’ band color is, but not there own. Using this only info they had during the meal, they would use either their right or left hand to eat their meals. The receiver of this message would learn which color band was on them and it’s the same for the other sister to learn her band color in this same manner. Example: Left=Gold Right=Red Vice versa Left=Red Right=Gold

Riddle #3 There's a faster way to do it. The method in the video will take you 22 minutes to have it ready, 7 minutes of waiting and 15 of cooking. Instead, you could have it ready in 15 minutes with these steps: 00:00 - Turn both hourglasses and place the cake in the oven. 07:00 - 7min hourglass has ended, immediately turn it over once again. 11min hourglass still has 4min left. 11:00 - 11min hourglass has ended. 7min hourglass still has 3min left. Turn the 7min hourglass over, now it has 4min left on it. 15:00 - 7min hourglass has ended. Cake is ready. You can even make a 2nd cake if you want to.

About the last riddle...The only way that the sisters can ensure that Elsa will not marry the king is for one of them to lose and one to win, no matter what the combination of colors in their ribbons is. This can be done by agreeing beforehand that one of them will name the color of her own ribbon as the one that she sees in her sister (so if Elsa sees a red ribbon in Gerda`s hair she will answer "red") while the other will answer the opposite color of what she sees (so if Gerda sees red she will answer "gold"). If they do that, Elsa will have the right answer if their ribbons are the same, and Gerda will be right if their ribbons are different, covering all four possibilities. Of course by playing it safe, they will only win the necklace, but Elsa can marry a man her age.

For this to work, Gerda will have to answer first. But we still have no idea how old king checked their answers. He could just bring few ribbons and tell them to pick color that they were wearing.

Riddle no. 2: If you get a raise every 6 months, you should raise the 5.000 on the original 180.000 you earn, not on your monthly derivative salary. Your paycheck will go like this; First year; First half year your salary is half of the original 180.000, so you earn 90.000. Second half of the first year, your salary is half of 185.000 (after a 5.000 raise) which is 92.5. Number 5: it’s easy. You can probably see that there are wine glasses on the table, so all they have to do is drink the wine then then look through it and the color of the ribbon should be clear. But if they do this without drinking it first, then there will be a red tint in the reflection.

There's a better answer for #3 that doesn't require a total of 22 minutes of timekeeping as described in the video. As in the video you turn both hourglasses over but instead of turning the 11 minute hourglass over when the 7 minute hourglass ends, you simply turn over the 7 minute instead letting the 11 minute hourglass continue to grain down. When the 11 minute hourglass completes there will be four minutes of grain in the bottom of the 7 minute hourglass. So when the 11 minute hourglass completes you simply turn over the 7 minute hourglass which will run for the final 4 minutes of the 15 minute total. So that's 22 minutes of timekeeping in the video (because you have to wait 7 minutes before beginning to bake) vs. 15 minutes of timekeeping in my solution (no waiting.) Recap: Turn over both hourglasses. When the 7 minute hourglass complets, turn it back over. When the 11 minute hourglass complets turn the 7 minute hourglass over again. When that 7 minute hourglass complets it's been 15 minutes exactly.

MrAnomic I’m confused. Wouldn’t doing it your way, come out to 14 minutes? Turning both over at the same time, gets you to 7 minutes before you turn over the first one. You flip it over, leaving you with 4 minutes until the 11 minute one runs out. Once the 11 minute one runs out, you’ll have 3 minutes left until the 7 minute one runs out. A la 14 minutes. Close, but still not accurate.

When the 11 minute hourglass runs out there's three minutes of grain at the top of the 7 minute hourglass and four minutes of grain at the bottom of the hour glass. So at that time you turn over the 7 minute hourglass putting the four minutes of grain at the top of the hourglass and let it run down. It will take 4 minutes for that grain to run out. 11 + 4 = 15 minutes. You have to think outside the box a little.

It would be likely that both agreed on a tactic to use that does not use any words or movements to signal someone that was not to be previously expected by the Old Man. A suitable tactic for the two girls would be that one of the two would say one colour: red or gold (purely as a guess). From this, let the answer of red = x, and the answer of gold = y. If the first girl says red, the second girl knows that her hair colour is gold, and if the first girl says gold, the second girl knows her ribbon colour is red. This can be arranged in different ways but will still allow the second girl two to know what colour ribbon is in their hair, insuring at least a necklace as a reward.

5:08 this riddle is actually just wrong. the math shown is not at all what you said. you say a 5000 increase in salary every six months, but by adding 5000 to HALF of the yearly salary you are adding DOUBLE to the yearly salary. so, instead of 5000 raise to the salary every six months, it should very clearly state that it is a 5000 raise to the six-month salary, or 2 10000 raises to the yearly salary paid twice a year.

for riddle #3 no need to waste the initial 7 minutes. Just flip both and start baking. When the small hourglass is done, 7 minutes has passed, then turn the small hourglass. When the large hourglass is done, 11 minutes has passed, and 4 minutes worth of sand has passed through the small hourglass, then turn the small hourglass. Now you're at 11 minutes with the small hourglass having 4 minutes worth of sand remaining. Just wait until the small hourglass is done, then you have your 15 minutes.

though flipping the hourglass and start baking at the same time is pretty difficult. Since for baking cake the oven is preheated, you can't start baking by just turning a knob. assuming you have gloves on already, to start baking you need to open the oven, put the cake in, and close the oven. you will need to turn the hourglass either before opening the oven or after closing the oven, and with thick oven gloves on, thus producing some error. so probably the solution in the video is better, heck he got 30 minutes anyway.

Riddle 2 is totally wrong. How could someone make a video like this and not understand the basics of how pay rises work? If you get a 5000 pay rise every 6 months it's an increase in the annual pay not a 5000 increase in your 6 monthly salary because salaries are annualised. You would receive only effectively 2500 extra for the second part of the year as the salary is paid every cut off, i.e. if it's monthly it's 185000/12 after the 5k increase. Doh!

I'm with you man! I was calculating it out based on monthly paychecks, and your Monthly pay goes up every 6 months, but raising your annual by $5k in July, when it's still paid out monthly means you've only earned $2,520 more by the end of the year. They don't just hand you $5,000 when you get a raise, they just increase your annual total, divide by 12, then pay it out monthly, 185k/12. If you take a $20k raise annually, you actually end up getting the whole $20,000, whereas with a $5k increase every 6 months you never actually even get the whole $5k within those 6 months.

The riddle should be; if they offered you $11,000 as an annual raise vs a $5,000 every six month raise. The quick assumption made that 11,000 is higher than 10,000 is the fallacy; because the increase happening after 6 months means you're actually earning more during the second half of the first year than the annual raise would give you spread out over 18 months. Although even then, the $11,000 annual after 6 years will surpass the initial benefit by 2 cents, and you would be earning more from then on. So the $5k raise is better in the short term only in all cases. Although, if you plan to leave after 6 years and get 2 other companies to fight over giving you a starting salary of at least $237,000, then you would continue to benefit from your decision.

I just wanted to comment the same thing, basic math done wrong in this video, who said that you get a 5k raise for your half-year wage, that doesnt make any sense and it should obviously only be raised by 2,5k in every step, then option A is by far better wich makes a lot of sense anyway

5:12 your math is wrong, that’s not an extra 15k a year as you stated. That’s an extra 15k over 3 years, only a extra 5k per year.

The first choice is better, look for my comment explaining the math. The second year has a base of $190,000, so the first half of year 2 should be $95,000, not $100,000

I think I know the answer to No.5. The girl who guesses first says the color of the other girl’s ribbon (the king will think she guessed her ribbons color) and then the other sister will say the same color, so that they will definitely get a pearl necklace, but if they have the same color of ribbons, they will end up with gold and jewelry and nobody has to marry the king🥳 Like if u think so too!

The second riddle is so bad... In the beginning it says the pay 180 000$ a year salary and from the company A they give you a raise of 20 000$ and from Company B they give you two raises a year both 5 000$ and in the end of the year company A pays you 180 000$ and company B pays you 185 000$ in the second year Company A pays you 200 000$ and Company B pays you 195 000$ and in the third year company A pays you 220 000$ and company B pays you 205 000$ So after three years company A has paid you 600 000$ and company B has paid you only 585 000$

Yeah, the riddle states a $5,000 but that would be $5,000 raise to the annual salary, only giving you $2500 extra the for half of the year. It would go: 90,000 / 92,500 = 185,000 95,000 / 97,500 = 195,000 100,000 / 102,500 = 202,500 Bringing you to a total of $582,500. A $5,000 raise every 6 months turns into only $2,500 extra every 6 months.

Pritch bro no. It’s $5000 raise every six months. Which means that it is a $10000 annual salary, not $5000. So half the year gives 5k, not 2.5k.

RivalUnknown_nz TJG if they get paid once a yeat that would go with salary A 90/90 110/110 130/130 And B would go 90/95 100/105 110/115 If they get paid one time a year then for A 180/200/220 And for B 180/190/200 The riddle only makes sense if there is no hidden information, so they have to be paid equal times which they dont specifiy.

Actually it’s the same thing, both companies pay off 600k per year Coz 180k per year both companies pay, that means starting cash is 87.500 and not 90.000 coz first six months (87.500) + second six months (92.500) = 180 grand for the first year as it goes on both pay 600k per year 180.000 200.000 220.000 87.500/92.500 97.500/102.500 107.500/ 112.500

The calculation of Two companies is wrong The right one : In first company : In first year : $180,000 In second year: $180,000+$20,000=$200,000 In third year: $200,000+$20,000=$220,000 Total $180,000 $200,000 $220,000 Total $600,000 (* edit in provided solution in videos *) In first year: $180,000/2= $90,000 $90,000+$90,000+$5000 total $185,000 In second year: Now $185,000/2 = $92,500 $92,500+5000+92500+5000 total $195,000 In third year: $195,000/2= $97,500 $97,500+$5000+$97,500+$5000 total $205,000 Total in three year $185,000 $195,000 $205,000 Total $585,000

In the first company, if he does well every year the company would add $20, 000 raise. It means once he does well on the first year next year it would be 200, 000 and he still does well the next year it would be 220,000. As for the second company... 6 months = $90,000 (Half of $180,00) If he does well 90,000+5,000=95,000 It means if does well after 6 months he would earn $95,000 and if he does well after another 6 months... 95,000+5,000=100,000 (another six months) 95,000+100,000=195,000 You may earn $5,000 more if you worked at the first company but after 2 more years you would earn more if you worked at the second company (This is if he continues to do- well)

My answer would be this (so they don't win the big prize, but they don't lose): When the first sister answers to the question "Which colour are you wearing?", she has to answer the colour of the other one (it doesn't matter the colour of her own ribbon). Then, the other sister will answer the same, knowing that, in fact, that one IS the real colour of her own. That way, they get out of the marriage and get the necklace.

I know that someone has found a way to make it so that either one of them gets a necklace or they both just go home with lots of items, but let's try and find a way that they would DEFINITELY get to take anything they can fit in their pockets. All I can think of is that they have wine glasses, they could look in the reflection to see their own colour.
