Thank you Amy for sharing your culture and knowledge. Now I understand why I enjoy providing care to the senior Japanese patients so much. Their sense of gratitude is apparent and makes me feel equally grateful. Having gratitude is definitely important for living a longer and pleasurable life.

@@thisjalife honestly the one about daily upkeep/cleaning was the one that really stood out to me! I heard someone say one time something about a 2 minute rule, something like 'if it takes two minutes to do, do it now' and I think it fits perfectly with that philosophy of just nice cleanliness and tidiness :)

Isn’t it amazing that these things are engrained in us and never really thought about it? There are similar things we do in American or other cultures too but it was fun to think through why we do this! Otsukaresama is another great one!!

This is so condescending! Every country in the world has its own clean habits like in Japan and morals like gratitude. Old men smell very bad in Japan, why daughtesr or sons don't look after them with more care?. And they do not visit their old parents in the majority of cases. I live in Japan so give us a break on gratitude and don't lecture, please.

Sorry you felt like it was condescending as that wasn’t how it was intended. Agree that every culture has different aspects of this as I mentioned in the video. No culture is perfect and not everyone does these things in Japan either. I was just highlighting things we can all take away and do to live healthier for ourselves and as we raise kids to be the caring people we want them to be
