This video is for ANYONE looking level up their riding to unlock the ultimate Joy Ride. We've compiled 5 skills you can practice anywhere, anytime - the best part? These fundamental bike handling skills will help you become a better rider on any terrain or bike with just a little bit of practice in your free time regardless of your access to trails, pump tracks, or skateparks.
All you need is your bike of choice & an area with flat ground such as a drive way, neighborhood street, or an empty parking lot. Building skills on flat ground is not only one of the most safe ways to learn but once you master a skill in the parking lot it can be applied on nearly any type of terrain, however forming skills with the assistance of obstacles or jumps often forms a reliance on outside forces to help us exercise the skill therefore making them more difficult to transfer to different trails or courses.
These skills can be practiced solo or made into a fun game with a friend or partner to see who can go the slowest, manual the furthest, or brake in the shortest distance.

I'm currently retired from mtb but this channel has always encouraged me to get back into this sport. I love the fact that you guys put all this effort and thought to produce content that help us to get better and keep improving our skills or get back into basics. Love to you guys and keep the videos coming :)

Love your content, I really enjoy the fact that you're addressing the fact what we don't have as much time as we did when we were kids. Also, ignore the haters, using coffee bags as cones isn't too invasive and if you can get free coffee and a couple of bucks out of it, good for you!

Great video as always, friends! Out of curiosity, what's the computer on the yeti? 👀 Garmin?

Thanks Alex!! It’s a Garmin Edge 540, Chase says he likes it! He said he is glad it’s not the touchscreen version. -Mike

Thank you for your advice and useful video. I would like to ask in this video (13 minutes 18 seconds) during the bunnyhop on Yeti, is the same technique used that you explained in a separate video about the bannyhop? One gets the impression that here the rider is doing a bunnyhop using the manual technique. I have a Yeti 130LR and when I do a bunnyhop using your method, the bunnyhop turns out to be low and nose heavy. I would be very grateful if you could make a short video of a bunnyhop on a full suspension bike using your method.

i have pedals with steel spikes on my mountain bike which would destroy most of my shoes (just not my mountain bike shoes). it's easier to quickly grab my old mountain bike that doesn't have the steel spikes. is it worth it to change into my mountain bike shoes to practice on the same bike i would ride on the trails or does it not make a difference which bike i practice on? the new one is a 27.5" 2021 and the old one is a more basic 26" 2003, both hardtails.

I didn't see the Traction coffee cornering cones for purchase. Is that a prototype that will be available soon?

We've got all sorts of different versions of cone here: traction.coffee/all-coffee/ But maybe we should make some real cones at some point haha

I hate advertisement. Its truly the only reason to make a video. You'd be better off using red Dixie party cups. Super cheap, place a rock in each cup so they don't blow away. Advertisement is the same as harassment.

Which is exactly why we said you can use anything that isn’t coffee. 😄 However, like you, we too have bills to pay. Planning, filming, editing these videos takes A LOT of time. Plus, Traction is our business so it’s not like we’re selling random junk, we care deeply about the sourcing of ethical & sustainable coffee, sharing it with people who enjoy coffee, & getting to support local trail orgs., non-profits, & host our own bike events. Hope you understand. ✌🏼
