i used to work for a different container unloading company, criminals yes, but immigrants no, and we were paid per container we unloaded so i myself actually made on average $40 per hour and upwards of $60 per hour if you work hard.

@@padapada7851 it depends on you. I preffered to unload containers because I enjoyed how fit it kept me without needing to spend extra time at the gym, after leaving that job I gained 10kg. It's harder work and sometimes feels like you're trapped in a dead end job, and you're at the whim of what containers your boss gives you as to whether you have a good day or not...and who you work with. If I could get good containers and good coworkers every day I'd do that job part time until I retired. It's good because there's no mental work to do you can listen to podcasts or lessons, I learned spanish from audio lessons while unloading containers. You'll be more tired though, I often napped in the afternoon as I got older which ate up some of the time I saved from doing piece rate work. Warehouse forklift work to me gets boring very fast and depressing, long hours and bosses often don't care about you, feel like more of a small cog in the Machine but unloading a container if you have the right mentality and work ethic you feel like a champion and get complimented often. With all the free time from piece rate work I built my first home in the afternoons and started my own business from home, but if you're going to procrastinate in your free time you might as well do something else because that's the main benefit of piece rate.

Also some container companies don't do piece rate. So check first. Acug was the company I worked for in Australia, and they had fairly high pays by comparison to some others.
