At one point of time in 2014, Lin Dan's career winning percentage hovered around 90 percent marks. That's so insane, i mean even after 14 years of Professional Badminton, to maintain a career winning percentage of over 90 percent is insane.

His statistics in Team Competition is unparalleled. His Thomas Cup victory over Lee Chong Wei in 2010 might be the most iconic Thomas Cup victory of all Time. To beat your arch rival in his home turf in the year where he was undefeated all throughout the year, in such a dominant fashion is something else.

Ha ha ha ha 😆. I don't know why you people are forgetting the Chinese Rule over decades in badminton. And except Indonesia, not even Denmark was not in scenario. Try to think 1st, better you'll understand later. See, think in this manner that Chinese won 28 battles, lost 12 battles. Isn't it quite astonishing? Well, in next, loosings aren't against Denmark, Indonesia, or even England. That's against Malaysia, Japan. It's like USA faced a defeat in basketball against Bhutan!!!!! But if it'll be so then that's a new sunrise, a new hope for more sunlight. Wins of USA are excellence of basketball but Bhutan's win is the rich prosperity of basketball. A scorecard is a donkey bcoz it doesn't reflect everything in behind. 👃👃

Hmm, terrible feelings. I can't oppose anyone's feelings. I may oppose any logic. 😁😁😁 Awesome idea that creator creating someone in Malaysia and at the same time someone in China just to oppose him 🤣🤣🤣. 199 weeks continuously and 368 weeks continually staying as number one proves his consistency above all others. One fine evening, you may win a final but, you can't be or continue World Ranking 1. 😁😁😁 Lin was born champ and legend beyond any doubt. 👃👃👃 But LCW proved his ruling over legends. Don't be fanatic as a fan bcoz statistics provided have alternative pages too.

definitely the very best of what badminton has ever had the privilege of having. maintaining the win when u r in doubles should be easier, because even if u didn't play all that well, there''s still your partner. but in singles, u have to do it all by yourself, u have to have perfect stamina, winning mentality and mindset, even when u r trailing, to even think these statistics r even possible, is mind boggling, while he is in an era of great players and rivals, he was still dominating that much. Much respect to the G.O.A.T Lin Dan. thanks for showing us, the world, the wonderful badminton that u showed, he was not just able to win, but he can win in such fashion, truly no other

Big thanks for making this. There is lot of information that most of the people don't know. It just shows how awesome player LD was. Sad that in couple of last years he suffered so many early losses which lowered his win-lose ratio. Otherwise hes ratio would be even better than LCWs. Before 2018, in 2016 or something he had over 600 wins and under 100 losses. This ratio was incredible.

So, surely Nadal is better!! George Best never played a World Cup. So, he's a substandard player!! Pogba must be better than LM 10 or CR 7 due to World Cup!!!! Sergei not got Olympic gold so he's not good enough!!!!! 😁😁 Nothing succeeds like success is not applicable in sports and games Sir. 😁😁😁

@@kalyankishore2042 yes but the first thing you lose is recovery not speed. LCW despite his age was one of the fastest players on tour. So your argument for 'anyone' is proven wrong there. All players, find it difficult to win later rounds in a tournament not 1st second rounds. Even lin dan, himself complained in his recent losses that he lost because he wasn't given enough recovery time. And I think lin dan knows more than us why he loses.

Indeed, LD's final 3 years have pulled down way too much his Overall Winning-Loss percentage for the many first round exit But, during LDs prime time - no one was closed enough. Many people blamed LCW for playing poorly in Beijing Olympics 2008 final against LD. I sympathy LCW. It was obvious LD at that Beijing Olympics 2008 was absolutely a different class level. LD was extremely fast, explosive, skillful and he could attack from every angle. It was as if LD was able to cover 2 courts. LD was playing 80% or below capacity throughout his route to the final against LCW for that Olympic Final. He was way faster and aggressive of LD in that final Olympic 2008.

Kento Momota has had two seasons with 90% winning percentage or above, not one. Chen Long never had a 90% + season, although his 2015 was close. Also, your inclusion of All England seems like cherry picking. It isn't officially more important than, say, the Indonesia Open, but at All England, LD has played lots of matches and won an impressive 85% of them, while in windy conditions in Indonesia, he only won 52%. You could have also chosen the more important WTF or Super Series Finals, but again, LD's statistics aren't nearly as impressive for that tournament, as he only participated once in his entire career. And when you mention that LDs winning percentage is so much more impressive than Sun Yun's and Momota's, because he's played more matches at three specific tournaments, you should also mention the number of games played when you talk about seasons with 90% or above winning percentage. There were quite a few in which he only played 40-50 matches. Not nearly as impressive (by your own admission) when compared to Momota's '18 and '19 seasons with 82 and 73 games respectively. Apart from that an informative video that shows LD is quite clearly the greatest player of all time (no need to be humble about it as a fan ;D). It really is a crying shame that the two greatest players couldn't really leave the sport on their own terms with the proper farewell that they deserved.
@kenkyuen
@kenkyuen 4 жыл бұрын
One thing about what you said there. If you ask professional players what tournaments are most important to them it’s usually 1. Olympics 2. World champs 3. All England, there’s no cherry picking here
@paulchow6469
@paulchow6469 4 жыл бұрын
As a huge Momota fan, I had a lot of the same thoughts, especially regarding the number of matches played in 18' and 19' vs Lin Dan's shorter seasons, and being interested in knowing the stats for other high-level tournaments such as the Indonesia Open. Early in his career, Momota has already hit a few big accomplishments Lin Dan never will, such as the 1000 level grand slam in a year, 11 tournament titles in a year, and consecutive 90%+ win records on 70+ match seasons. Another thing that's difficult always comparing between eras, is the game evolves, and the level typically goes up, and the depth of the field increases. According to professional Danish player Vittinghus, who played Lin Dan through in his prime and has played Momota several times in the past couple years, the depth of men's singles is noticeably higher now than it was 10 years ago, and also he believes Momota is unquestionably better than Lin Dan or Lee Chong Wei ever were. The increase in depth makes Momota's win % even more impressive. In addition, coming back from a suspension where you couldn't train with the national squad or play tournaments in your prime for an entire year adds to the height of the accomplishment. All that being said, Lin Dan is the unquestionable GOAT of badminton and these stats are incredible. Really shows his level of dominance over a long period of time. It will take virtually another decade of similar dominance from Momota in the past couple years to match some of these stats, incredible.
@kenkyuen
@kenkyuen 4 жыл бұрын
Paul Chow what you said is fairly accurate. But the issue with momota being so great comes with caveat. LCW beat Kento fairly recently while kento was in his prime and LCW was not. The match was fairly even too. So since Kento and LCW were roughly the same level in 2018 I think. It just shows that LD was definitely better than any version of momota now. And this era does seems weaker than the previous. We had the 4 kings LD, LCW, TH, PG. currently it’s just momota with no real rival. Also Axelsen must be the luckiest player of all time. Momota couldn’t play for all the major competitions Axelsen won. I would say Axelsen would not a world champ or All England if momota could have played.
@cunninglinguist900
@cunninglinguist900 4 жыл бұрын
@@kenkyuen This is conclusion is too simplistic. 1. What is Momota's "prime"? He was banned at 21 years of age, wasn't even allowed to train with National Team players for 1 1/2 years. Malaysia Open 2018 (where he lost the final to LCW) was his first 500 + tournament in 2 years - in badminton age, he's maybe 22 at that time, in real years, he was 23. Tell me, how "prime" was LCW at that age (that's the years 2003 and 2004)? 2. LCW won the Malaysia Open 12 times. As far as I know, no other player has won a single Open tournament even remotely as much. LD "only" won China Open 6 times, for example. He has a 76-6 record for MO, winning 93%. LD's best for a single tournament is Fouzhou China Open with 39-5 or 89% winning percentage. Malaysia Open is to LCW what French Open is to Nadal. The other two times LCW played KM in 2018, KM won in straight games. 3. LCW maintained his body and form for longer than LD. He had winning percentages of 75% and 85% for the last two years of his career. LD's numbers for the same age: 55% and 57%. Plus, he got really thrashed by Momota 3 times in those years, unlike LCW. 4. I agree that there is no group of absolute top players (yet) at the moment like the era you mentioned. However, the "4 kings" era is also a bit hyped, imo.+Taufik was really only good for the first few years of his career and became declined basically at the same time that LCW became good. They were barely top class at the same time. PG was several years older than the others and only won a single tournament after 2008. So there isn't as much overlap of greatness as the term might suggest. Furthermore, Badminton has changed a lot in the past few (!) years. While extremely buff guys where a rarety even a couple of years ago (LD, LCW, CL), they are now the norm. Compare the physiques of KM and VA from their SSF match in 2015 and then now. Look at LZJ, Antonsen, CTC, SYQ, VA - the sport is much faster than it was even 5, let alone 10 years ago. Watch matches from then and now, you'll notice quite the difference. 5. Making sweeping conclusions from one single match is quite silly. Novak Djokovic has a 1-1 h2h against Chung Hyeon. Federer's h2h against the same player is 2-0. Can we now conclude that "prime" Federer is better than "prime" Djokovic? Come on, man.

Cunning Linguist dude you’re wrong man. KM won world champs so that means he’s in his prime or at least approaching it. If lcw can even match it. It just shows Momotas era is weaker period.

Your conclusion saying 'Maybe the best' really doesn't do him justice when the guy second (Any category) hasn't even accomplished 1/3 of what Ling Dan has.

Hallo Sir, Great to listen you. But I'm sorry to differ you. Do hope that you won't mind. I'm requesting you to remind Nevil Cardas regarding statistics. Bcoz, in badminton, champions from China, Denmark or Indonesia are natural products of too good infrastructure and competitive comparison over years. But, champions from Japan or Malaysia or alike countries having lack of infrastructure and competitive comparison, reflects more quality and will power. Major of their primary energy waste against all primary obstructions. Lin Dan is best to perform undoubtedly but, as a badminton player Momota or Li Chong Wei stay far ahead. They set the landmark for their next generation of their country that's why we may get two more top quality badminton playing country in future and that'll make make badminton more precious. Please be rational. Wishing you all good and regards 🙏.
