@@AK.__ not to get into an argument because I can see both sides and I’m not ready to die on either hill, but I think it was a wagon for several reasons, firstly I believe that configuration was listed as a “wagon” in the manual and other official Subaru info. My insurance listed it as a station wagon (which actually got me amazing rates for it being a notoriously commonly wrecked sports car), I believe due to there being windows on the sides behind the rear doors (I.e. they are fixed over the cargo area). Also when shopping for aftermarket parts for that car, the options were always sedan or 5-door wagon, never hatchback. I think some people also define any 5-door car as a wagon, but I don’t buy that, I think it has more to do with the windows. As you said I’m sure length plays a factor, but I don’t think there’s an exact official cutoff between hatch and wagon? I’ll undo my whole argument right here and say I always called it a hatchback because I knew people thought wagons were lame lol

@@1pyroace1 yea it has proven a trooper. Ive had a couple of failure points but they where logical and easy to understand. Its not so much reliable as it is easy to diagnose and fix. And its not like it breaks down every 16000 km / rougly 10000 miles.

I loved my Subaru wagon. 5 speed Outback was a great ride. The only cool SUVs are old school truck based ones like the 89 Bronco I use to own. So much more badass than new SUVs. They were actually really good off road.

My 07' Cooper S my dad gave me was basically a heap with major problems and thousands of dollars in body damage. It's getting better and I'm finally able to enjoy it for the most part. It's still got issues (why its in the shop again since they messed it up...) and I'm slowly picking at them to finally clear my dash of lights. But god the only thing I've gotten about my car is that it's trash therefore I'm trash which is genuinely hilarious since I'm in rural Georgia. So almost everyone's in some truck with an obnoxious exhaust...

The Fiat 500 one is pretty accurate because 99% of non car people don’t even know what abarth is so when they talk about the Fiat 500 they think of the normal version of that car (same with Mini and JCW)

Wagons are most common car in Europe? Doubtfully though. Their regulations and habits more tend to hatchbacks, small sedans and small SUVs (as a common).

Many people would mix definition of hatchback, which is either a "Golf"-class car or midsize sedan, but with the 5-th door instead of trunk , with the real wagons which made on basis of full-size sedans. The Mercedes, Volvo in the video, and the discontinued Dodge Magnum (Chrysler 300C Touring in Europe) these are modern wagons.

Funny! Half an hour ago I was talking to a friend about cars. He hasn’t got his own car yet but always drives around in his MUM’S Mercedes glc SUV. Over here in Germany, yes I’m german, this isn’t a special car at all. But anyway. Maybe 30 seconds after we started our conversation he said to me “you and your girly car!”. I own a FIAT 500 and I absolutely love it. I think it is quit a shame that people say this “girly car thing” because everyone who does that, has never driven this car. They don’t know how fun it is throwing it around corners and race it up a mountain road. And it’s really cheap to maintain because actually Tony doesn’t need to fix it again haha. And i’m probably faster then my friend anyway;)

The MIni and Fiat 500 memes becomes way more accurate over here in Europe. I've owned 2 Mini Coopers (the first gen BMW ones) but 9 times out of 10 you'd see them being driven by people who either just passed or clearly had no idea how they even got onto the road in the first place, same goes for the 500.

Thank you for spreading the love for wagons I've been a fan of hatchbacks most of my life, but I've started having an eye for wagons and shooting brakes since I started bass in high school. Trying to shove your gear + a whole ass concert bass amp in a Yaris is not impossible, just not very fun. Red Fang's music video for "Hank is dead" where the band plays music in a mid 60s ford wagon outfitted with loudspeakers only made me love wagons even more.

As someone who owns a 2010 Mazda3 2.5GT hatchback, that car makes me extremely happy. I’m an apprentice at a local auto shop in my hometown. I’ve driven a number of crossovers and I absolutely DESPISE them. They’re not fun to drive. They’re not practical. They’re uncomfortable. They’re ugly. They’re driven by the most obnoxious drivers on the planet. I have infinite respect for people who drive minivans and wagons.

Everytime someone talks about Wagons, I remember Top Car TV's story about when his brother he used to go full Astolfo mode with women in the bed of his Volvo Brick, and there was also the Volvo 850R wagon that raced on BTCC, even if it didnt made success racing, it was a success among the fans so yeah, Wagons are pretty much the coolest type of car today, and I wish I could buy one, but I wont need in the future

Heres an Australian car culture stereotype: If you drive any Holden Commodore or Ford Falcon, you're on your Provisonal licence and it's modified you ALWAYS hoon and do burnouts and skids. It does have some merit as some do but most of the time it's on skid pads or places where cops "let" you do it, but most of us literally drive it and barely hoon it in. As an ex Commodore owner on my provisional, I barely let her break traction

I drove a yukon borrowed from my mom for a bit, I loved that thing. Not because it was good but because I used that thing like a farmtruck. I jumped it drifted it (sorta) hauled in it. It was fun to rag on. Now my dad uses it as a beater farm truck cause it gets slightly better Mileage than his 2500 hd.

I love having both, a Subaru and a wagon because I recently purchased an 05 Foz XT. And I'll gladly take that hippie/rally stereotype since the idea is to build a rally/off road capable car I can camp in.

i have to say i love and respect this man for his opinion on minis , I'm a 20yr mechanic and all the cars I've worked on the most difficult cars have been minis and I own an r50 model myself and I love every second of owning it or even wrenching away on my driveway .

Well, for the Outback and Forester, the outdoor stereotype is pretty accurate, but so is the WRX stereotype, it also applies to the Impreza and Crosstrek.

I love that in Australia we’re obsessed with wagons. Basically every native car we’ve produced we’ve made in wagon variants, and we still import a large amount of wagons from manufacturers who produce them. Wagons all the way
