Visiting hospice registered nurse... unbelievable autonomy and with the right skill set (psychosocial matters a lot), a blessing to so many families and the patients' themselves.

You are a man. As women we have to consider the danger of going into our patients' homes alone. I would totally consider this job if provided a chaperone.

@@MNP208 Oh my word... I'm speechless. Are you stating you would be afraid of going into the home of a terminally ill patient without a chaperone? May I suggest more homework on your part including shadowing to remove such fears?

Hi Katherine,I am a correctional nurse since 1998 and I love everything about it!!! This area of nursing is very simuliar to the ER as you never know what you going to get!

Other once I can think of is legal advisory nurse where they give their professional nursing opinion in court cases and insurance assessment nurse

I think you can do cruise nursing as well while traveling. The contracts are 1-4 months.

I've heard that the camp nurse gig can be great for nurses with families as one of the benefits of camp nursing is that your children get to attend the camp at little or no cost!

I was a camp nurse and both my kids went for free as an LPN - I also did correctional nursing as a LPN - a lot of these role hire LPN not just RN’s

My brother used to inspect oil rigs. He got extra hazard pay any time he was flown out there on a helicopter. $85,000/year isn't nearly enough for the accepted risk!

oil rig nurse would be a sweet job. i worked as a guard in a prison hospital, it was the suck for a lot of RNs and we blew through them quickly.

Correctional nursing is chill compared to the hospital. Patients are criminals but alot more respectful then the hospital patients. Anything serious gets sent out but like I said, these inmates are very respectful to us. ER experience is definitely recommend as you do get emergency situations.

I was a Prison Nurse in an inpatient facility for 7.5 years and I was also a Police Forensic/Custody Nurse Practitioner for awhile. I have also been a Medical Assessor for the Department of Work and Pensions. This is in the UK.

I have applied for Carnival cruise , but I think they don't accept Indian medical degree. What is your advise to apply for doctors or nurse or may be paramedic. I have ATLS, ACLS, BLS, PALS and Indian Doctor medical license. And my experience is more than 24 years in ED and ICU. Now I am working in OR for last 10 years.

@@Katherine_Ann As per law I can work on C1/D Visa on cruise. I don’t want to jump or violate any law to work in USA because I have regards for law of land. Considering this please suggest me if I can work in any good cruise, may be as a doctor or in administrative position. Which cruise take easily a freshers and land guy.By the way I will be completing STWC on 22nd of this month.

I would not wqmt to work on a cruise., could you imagine of it ever grts into a crash and your responsible for everyone who lost consciousness or needs CPR??

Such a small chance of that happening. Also, I believe many cruise employees must be CPR trained. I wouldn't want to deal with all the overdoses. Way worse!

Never thought of the overdoses on a cruise... just from being in the ER I could only imagine what it would be like on a cruise! Ms Smith at that point disaster triage would have to come into place. If there were ever mass CPR needed that nurse would have to teach others how to do CPR while doing CPR themself probably!

$15k/month for cruise line nursing is not anything I've ever heard of in terms of salary. Seems waaaaay high.

I'm sure like anything else, there's a lot that goes into that and the salary varies widely!

@@Katherine_Ann Well the figure you quoted for nurses is above the top end of the physician pay rates I've seen for cruise lines. So I'd argue that goes beyond "varying widely". I think information for our fellow nurses ought to be a bit more factual.

Absolutely, I definitely strive to provide the most accurate information that I can. I was looking back at the information that I referenced and I don't recall the exact posting that I was referencing, but there is a posting for an Acute Care Registered Nurse from Pulse Clinical Alliance on Salary.com. It was closed on 415/2022. I agree, 15k/month is probably not the norm, but if that's a legitimate posting, then it's at least possible! @@redcapote4760

Hi there, thanks for your question! I'm not certain about that. It likely depends on the cruise line and where you're heading. The more important question is what kind of licensure they require!
