I put a kirks can in the door and it fit perfectly, it didn’t rattle or move around either. It might be because u have a modified exhaust that it’ll rattle.

I have a bf mk1 xr8 and my misses has a fg xr6 mk1 , in the future we’re looking at Kayhan Audio ICC replacements , could look at putting foam around the plastics to minimise noise and still allow expansion, also I have seen aftermarket gloss rear diffusers for the fg’s that look pretty good

Zac, you need to get some carpro DLUX which is a ceramic coating for plastics and rubbers for your diffuser. I recently made a video on restoring the plastic on my side mirrors on my Evo X. Makes plastics black and lasts 2 years can't go wrong with it.

I thought this was a follow up from the track day when the FG got shredded all day long by nearly everything else on the track lol.

The cup holders may be bad, but in my 98 Celica the cup holder extends from under the center console and gets right behind the gear stick. So frustrating.

Hey mate a tip with that rear diffuser , a soft detailing brush with your car wash soap will remove most of it!

Get a little rubber foot for the glovebox door and stick it to the glovebox where it touches the switch, it'll fill the space between the switch and the flat section on the glovebox door

When you’re washing that diffuser on the rear use a paint brush like a sash cutter or 3inch the bristles get everything I use this trick on wheels and grille

Check you aircon drain pipe, could be blocked causing the water in come inside

Use a paint brush to clean the rear diffuser. Cut some different size plastic pipe glue them together then sand and paint them to match the console . Make sure you prime and sand it to hide the layer marks. Glue some black parcel shelf carpet or felt to the door trim to stop vibration. Use peanut butter to clean and shine your exterior black parts. The oil soaks in and turns the brand new as well as protecting them from future fading. Buy a magnetic cupboard door latch for the glove box. Mabey one of those servo special black and chrome ones for your phone would work too Zac. As for the rattles and squeaking you’ll have to pull the day apart and pack it out with foam tape. Use banana gloss wax on the piano black as it fills and hides any swirls and scratches. You’ll have to order it from the US and A. Any other problems let me know. Or just buy an AU or BF. Hope it helps.

Aircon drain plug which sits on top of the trans. Old metal coat hanger can unblock it.

Try Bumper Black from Autoglym. It’s a spray and restores your plastic nicely. Super cheap also sell a brush that helps you get u into those crevasses. Brush on one side, pointy bendy rubber bit on the other to get into those edges.

As a BA and FG owner, the big issue you missed (IMHO) is how piss poor the aircon is in the FG compared to earlier Falcon models. BA...cool runnings, FG...you make me sweat!

Hey mate, i agree about the cup holders, they are crap, inner door handles useless. Broken 1, driver side broke easy, my drivers window squeaks sometimes and annoys me, no other noises. No issues with the air con. Mines a 2010 mk1 and i love it.

Yeah; you can definitely tell Ford Oz had their budget cut right back for the FG (once they decided to close up shop), everything is cheap, the drivers door outer B pillar trim is destroyed on mine and lets air in once you get over 70kmh

Not sagging bumper aftermarket headlights are too small. Air con is very weak in fg in hot weather. Rear diffuser spray Tyre shine it's also made for these plastics made my car look a million dollars afterwards and still holding up nice and dark months later

Jack the car up, grab the aircon drain above the gear box, shove a bit of wire up it to unblock the drain and it won't leak..

My 5, in order: 5. I second what you've said about the valence insert/diffuser and exterior windows trim & I add the front grills plastics as well, so yeah, pretty much all of the black exterior trim fades to buggery in the Australian sun, & its not easy at all getting it black and clean looking again. 4. Every now & then (and way more often than should really happen), your handbrake will require 'adjustment", or else you'll go to use it on a steep hill and find you have absolutely no handbrake at all. Awesome. 3. Part and parcel of having a very powerful engine that makes a whole ton of torque at any RPM, is that it will successfully destroy all of the Ford factory bits behind it, until one by one, bit by bit, you've replaced everything behind the engine (except the gearbox, thankfully) with something stronger, and spent all your money doing so. Which brings me to......... 2. The IRS. Ah yes, the wonderful, so much better than a live axle, IRS. And the 2,200 bushes that help make up its anatomy. You see, purely as part of driving around, they will crap out one by one and require complete replacement every few thousand kms, unless as part of replacement you buy a stronger type/brand (see above). Then to add insult to injury, unless you're handy enough, you'll need a mechanic to do the job for you, who will quote you a crazy amount of money to pull the cradle despite its very design meaning it SHOULD drop out very easily if you have the right equipment and know what you're doing. And with the work done it still rides no better in the ass end than any other Falcon I've owned, all of which were live axles, and all of which were better off for it too. They were all about 100kg lighter in the back end, just for starters....... Hmm. What could possibly be more annoying to me than the stupid IRS? Oh yeah....... 1. The cupholders. Those bloody cupholders. Those f^&*n', ba@#$rd, cupholders! In case you can't tell already by my frustration, I drive a manual, and those ridiculous cupholders have got to be the most messed up Falcon design point since '80's X-Series exterior door handles. Plus, they had it right with the BA! I had a BA XR8 ute & didn't have the same dramas, why mess it up on the FG! Completely useless for drinks, but granted, not a bad place to sit your house keys, loose coins, or your phone, so I dunno, maybe the IRS should be no. 1 after all! But with all that, in closing: BEST AUSSIE FORD EVER! The only thing I could ever be tempted to replace it with one day would be a V8 Mustang. Perhaps. We shall see.

Hi Zac mate,yes annoying but not major problems all cars have them,& the cup holder problem I put a stubbie holder in mine & all drinks stay firmly in place ok take care man.

Air con water is caused by foam wrap on the hoses degrading over time, causing condensation to pool and therefore drip when you push the car hard or corner hard. Only way to fix is pull everything apart and replace the material around the hoses. That IS the issue. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

those are some shitty cupholders for sure but man you needa check out the filth im stuck with in my manual EL, theyre about 10mm deep at the front and have a shitty flimsy flip up thing thats meant to hold your drink but in reality just gets knocked down every time you change gear ugh
