Dislikes start at 3:09 dislikes are as follows: 1. Keyless entry doesn’t come standard. 2. Doesn’t come standard with Sirius XM radio. 3. Apple Car Play is a subscription-based service. You get one year included and pay 80$/year to continue 4. Can’t get Apple Car Play without the navigation system (nav doesn’t come standard). 5. Seatbelt tightens too easily while driving. Can’t permanently disable auto start/stop.

Luckily the 2020 comes standard with keyless entry according to the 2020 standard features. I’m shocked the 2019 doesn’t have it. The Apple car play i read online was going to be free i believe. I don’t know if it’s gone in effect yet.

My top 5s are (regardless of how much $$$ you have) 1. No M steering wheel for 18 M40i 2. No side bolster adjustment if opt ventilates seats 3. No seat belt height adjustment 4. No massaging seat 5. No telescopic steering wheel Few more: No laser light No soft closing door No Android auto HK audio is average at best Limited tire options for 21' Ventilated only available for 2 seat colors
@HiPlains1
@HiPlains1 5 жыл бұрын
As for no soft closing door I will add these doors sound terrible when closing. Does not have a nice thud sound. Not even remotely so. But its still very rattle free and quiet when driving. However with run flat tires it will have more tire noise with some road surfaces. The HK system sounds pretty good for me. But I had to add a bit more bass in mix because the subs are a bit weaker. But with a little adjustment it helped allot. It may be average for you but compared to most cars its much better IMO. I guess it all depends what you compare it to. If you compare it to nothing but premium brands with upgraded audio options you might be right. Also agree at this price point no android auto is a big zonk. I think some of those things like soft closing doors would be nice but these cars can be bought with huge discounts. I got 7K off MSRP on my X3. So if you buy right, these can be a reasonable value.

3:13 is the start. Some (my whole family) don't want keyless go. Because it's not keyless. And it's annoying. And it's unsafe!! It's so easy for people to steel your car with a jammer/emitter if you have keyless go. I'm really happy its NOT Standard. I would actually pay extra for not having it. They changed apple car play actually. Now it's 200-300$ in a new car and then free to use. If you already had it, it's free to use now. The seatbelt retraction is a very important safety feature because most people don't tighten it and then it's much less useful in a crash. You can easily just loosen it afterwards again. The permanent auto start stopp is the only valid point in this video. I hate it too. But I think they can't change that or other they would have legal problems with CO2 emissions etc.
@Kimmer
@Kimmer 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but these complaints seem pretty trivial to me. I own a 2019 X3 and it has been an awesome vehicle. BMW does have a lot of options which can be confusing and annoying, but the intent is to make your car customizable and allow you to choose and pay for what you want. Regarding the tightening of the seatbelts when you first drive off, I believe the purpose of this is to calibrate the tension for the front seat passengers so that the seatbelts will provide optimum resistance for safety. Pre-tensioning occurs shortly before a crash is detected to better protect the occupants. I don't find this to be too annoying, especially since it is for increased safety purposes. BMW engineering and build quality is amazing.

After driving my X3 30i for about 6 months I can say its been a great SSUV. Really don't have any complaints except for one thing. The turbo lag can be bad at times. Mainly when you want to pull out quickly onto a busy road with oncoming traffic. I've noticed when you press the accelerator hard from a dead stop the X3 will hesitate for about a second. It will kind of nudge forward and stop while the turbo is spooling and then hit all at once. This is different when you pull out normally the car will start moving immediately but slower. Under the right circumstances the lack of propulsion can be dangerous. Just something to be aware of if you buy this SSUV. Its not a deal killer by any means. But you MUST adjust driving habits. You do NOT have instant throttle response from a dead stop when pushing the accelerator hard. I guess there is only so much an oem can do with turbo's. Glad I bought a Nissan pro 4X with the 4.0 normally aspirated motor over the new ranger with 2.3 turbo. The X3 is best suited for normal driving at normal boost levels. It can behave more erratic in the power band when applying more power. This is at any speed. I guess that is just the nature of turbos in general. That is with normal boosting it gives you adequate power and acceleration. When you "hit it", it will grab you when it hits max boost. Just a thought for those that have never have owned or driven a turbo. I would say overall a larger displacement motor with normal aspiration is still better then a small turbo motor. But the MPG will be less. That is the trade off. But the trait really only shows itself when you push the petal to the metal lol.
@localguy6547

My Honda Pilot V6 will out beat the bmw x3 at first but boy once the x3 boosts, it will catch up pretty quickly- saying that, anybody look into buying an x3 make sure to test drive it before you buy it. The lag is annoying. The exterior and smooth ride is awesome, once you're on the highway it drives like the ultimate driving machine. City driving annoying. Also, does your exhaust/muffler sound loud? Mine does and I took it to BMW and they said that's normal! Go figure
@vivekgopinathan6960
@vivekgopinathan6960 2 жыл бұрын
I disagree. The turbo lag is negligible & i am very fussy about lag hence i will know it when there’s one. Also, once that second duration of lag or resistance goes away, x3 30i does gather some serious speeds

Totally agree. I love my 2019 X3 but HATE the keys! Constantly having to fumble for the keys- especially in the rain! You have to be standing outside to lock the door so you end up soaking wet and the keys usually fall on the ground. Plus trying to find somewhere to put the key while you're driving then trying to find it again later. Why not just have a damn old fashioned ignition so at least you'd know where they are. I refuse to buy another car without keyless entry.

My biggest complaint is the no remote start. When I purchased the 2021 model I assumed remote start could be purchased online and controlled via my phone. I call BMW and they tell me that only 2022 X3's come with remote start, and there is no option to get remote start. Then I called my dealership looking to see if they car order me a remote start kit and have it installed at the dealership the same way I did it with my old Mazda 3, and my dealership tells me that a BMW remote start kit does not exist. I have 2.5 years of warranty left, and they told me getting an aftermarket remote start will 100% void my warranty. Nice.

I own a 2019 BMW X3 and my biggest dislike is that it doesn't come with Remote Start. I've owned Mercedes, Ford, Chevy and they ALL came from the factory with remote start. Living in the Northeast, if I knew that this BMW didn't come with it standard - LIke I thought it should, I wouldn't have bought it. Otherwise, I love the car and it drives great.

QUESTION: I went to the BMW dealership the other day. The FIRST THING I NOTICED was when closing the door on the driver's passenger, there was a sharp plastic piece in the grab handle along one of the inside leading edges...felt like I was grabbing a dull razor blade under my fingertips. Am I the only one who felt this? Maybe so...but the door grab handle felt awful and I have NEVER commented a door handle in my life.. Great looking car and I'm sure it drives well...but will likely spend my hard earned money elsewhere..

@@cosmo1505 , purchased our first x3 new in 2008. the straight 6 engine, wonderful solid engine. Its true at 100,000 miles , valve cover gasket, oil filler gasket and drive belt and pulleys should be replaced. So that is a $1500-$2000 investment to go another 100,000 miles. I also drained and filled the differentials, and transmission. Sold it in 2016. So kept that one 6 years. Second X3 bought in 2014 new, and it has 100,000 of hard driving, wife real estate agent. Stop and go. 4 cyl turbo engine. No leaks, no issues, but again at 100,000 would do same preventative maintenance if we would keep it. Again kept 6 years. Now we will likely buy our 3rd , but may lease for tax purposes. Not out of worry something would go wrong. They've been solid performers for us.

Nice car. Fellow X3 owner here. Although I went with the M40i... Call me out if I'm wrong but back in 2018 when I spec'd out a non M40i X3 with options and packages VS the M40i with comparable features, the price difference between the two was an absurd $2000 or something... @@alexandergoldman Yes about the seatbelt. Anything software related can be coded. The seatbelt would have to be done by a specialist at a coding center because the Bimmer Code app doesn't offer it specifically. With the app you can deactivate the warning sound when you haven't put it on. Download the app for free and check the Demo mode. It shows everything you can do. As for Android Auto - you can't enable it because the car doesn't have the necessary hardware to begin with. BMW doesn't offer it. You can have Carplay enabled permenantly for free though. All BMW does when you pay for an option is check a box in the car's computer. Search for BMW Coding in your area and ask them what they offer. Hope this helps :)

So far I'm loving our '18 X3 w/convenience pkg, navigation, park distance control & heated seats/steering wheel. I'm an android person so the Apple Car Play is useless to me. I agree completely on the whole stop/start feature but we've learned to automatically shut it off when we start the car. The seatbelt doesn't bother me but maybe it's the way it's positioned, I actually see it as a reminder to watch my posture. Hi Rob, Right to the point - this is my wives daily ('19 X3, but with KL entry, LED & real leather). But in the passed, I've had the 1st gen. X3 (twice) then skipped 2nd as my family grew, so went with '11 X5 (still a keeper as a wknd workhorse) while I had '06 330i (just sold after 11yr) and year ago I bought a '15 328i CPO that absolutely SUCKED ASS, and neither me or wife wanted to drive it as daily, so being a "loyal sucker" we traded it in for this X3. AND I totally agree! it's ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL: Looks waaaay better than 2nd gen models, drives/handles a bit more true than the early electric-steering, while smooth & responsive over crappy roads like no other car I ever drove. I now also have the new AR Giulia (daily) and for about the same sticker at ~$50k, I have to say X3 is by far a higher QUALITY vehicle. So the "HATE" part you talk about is the stuff that ALWAYS sucked when it came to Beamers (nicle&dime) options - it drives me crazy how they sell the strip-shit ver of 320i, so they can lease this thing for $350/m and stick it in everybody's driveway BUT then make rest of the fleet depreciate by a mile.

I agree BMW bundling is a hot mess. And there are a ton of bundles/options to choose from. But there is a ton of margin to work a deal on these cars. I bought a 19 earlier this year and it retailed for almost 55K. So its pretty loaded up. After the rebates, discounts I paid 47K. So almost 8 thousand off. Definitely look at the penski dealerships. They are big volume BMW sellers and you can get great deals. I live in New Mexico and bought mine from Arizona. Much better deal then what my local dealer offered. So when these are loaded up they are really nice SSUV. As for reliability they did have some issues with timing chain and few other items some years back. But this 2.0 turbo has been out for a long time. The old perceptions are hard to die and people will always claim these are a money pit. That may be true for some bimmers. 7 series comes to mind. But the X3 is pretty bullet proof now. Also you will get the stated MPG. 23 city 30 Hwy. I get that no sweat. The bi turbo with 8 speed ZF transmission is a great tune if not the best out there. My only complaint is no android auto. The seat belt pulling back is not an issue if you just "let go" We have a tendency to move our bodies forward when it does that. And IMO, it tightens it even more. If you just sit still it does not do that and loosens up a bit. It bothered me allot in the beginning and now I don't even notice it. The head unit does not turn off unless you open door but you need to lock the door (little button on handle) to really shut the system which is separate from the ignition.. At first this seems awkward but its automatic after awhile. The engine start/stop also bugged me at first. But after a time, I don't even notice it. It works very smooth and there is no hesitation. What I'm getting at is there is allot of technology here and its implementation is flawless IMO. Most likely a new owner will fight this technology since its so different (I did). But once you get used to it, it actually makes everything just that much easier for the driver. The car just does allot of stuff on its own. And after awhile, you will miss it when driving other cars. When it rains, it wipes. Lights turn on etc.. blind spot alerts flash which I really like. Everything on car is mated to fob. So my Fob knows all the seat settings etc.. and will adjust when I open the car. Its funny because earlier on I would get confused and press the button on door to open which is how many cars operate. With the X3, it's even easier and you just open door normally. There were various things like that I thought was something wrong with car. But like my wife told me, the car is smarter then you. And that is the best way to describe a loaded X3. Don't fight the tech. Just let it do its thing. This car was more my wife's choosing and I had some doubt about it before purchase. But after owning it almost a year, I'm really impressed. This has got to be the best SSUV on the market. So much space, and tons of ceiling room. Back seat is huge. And two buttons and the whole thing lies flat and I can put 3 big dogs back there with plenty of space. A loaded Acura RDX will run about 46K. If you can get a good deal on a loaded X3 this thing will destroy the RDX in every metric imaginable. Build quality, the leathers, etc.. and really at a much higher level.

Excellent comments! I bought our X3 for my wife and it is a fantastic vehicle. We got it fully loaded and I love driving it on long drives and weekends when we go together. We did the BMW delivery experience in South Carolina and had fun driving it back to Utah. The engineering on this vehicle is amazing.

@@Kimmer Well been driving the X3 for just over 6 months and its still great. But I do have one issue that has presented itself over time a few times. And there is not much one can do about it. That is the the turbo lag can be annoying at times. Mainly when I want to pull out rapidly into a road with approaching traffic. When I want the X3 to pull out in a hurry and press the pedal down hard it just stops for what seems like an eternity before it moves. And the cars in my area won't slow down. They would rather hit you and sue. I'm serious nothing but a bunch of meth heads sucking up government assistance lol. TV is full of non stop sue happy lawyers ads. But the lag on this engine is more then I like. My Frontier truck has a great 4.0 liter motor that has great torque/throttle response off the line. So when I'm driving the X3 I have to remember I don't have instant throttle response and have to make changes in my driving habits. Another way to explain it is if I pull out at regular speed the car will start off instantly but slower. When I "hit it" with the accelerator the car does not even move for about 700 mili second. It kind of edges forward and stops while the turbo is boosting then hits you all at once. Its pretty scary actually in some circumstances and down right sucks when it happens. This is my first turbo car so I don't know if they all behave this way. IMO, OEM's should use supercharging more because as I understand it, those do NOT have lag.
@Kimmer
@Kimmer 5 жыл бұрын
@@HiPlains1 I do notice a little turbo lag, but don't find it very objectionable. This is our first turbo too, but from what I've read, BMW X3 turbo lag is much better than most. I wonder if your X3 has a problem possibly? We also own a 2005 Frontier which has been a good truck. I personally drive an electric Bolt EV as my daily driver and love the instant torque and response. There's no beating an EV for smoothness and quick acceleration. Can't wait for more options in a few years. I would love an electric X3 similar to the new Audi Electron. No turbo lag with EVs, but for now, it's a minor annoyance for me with the X3 which I still love.
@HiPlains1
@HiPlains1 5 жыл бұрын
@@Kimmer Its only under rare circumstances where the lag is of concern. That is when your pulling out in front of traffic. In one case the oncoming traffic started to speed up excessively when I tried to pull out. Part of which was my fault from misjudging the turn. But nevertheless it would have been a non issue in my Frontier. That momentary lag seemed like an eternity in that situation. And I applied ALLOT of force on acceleration from a dead stop. This seems to make a difference being if I apply a smaller amount of force on accelerator. 99.9 percent of the time the X3 behaves what I would consider normally. Lag is more notable when you floor it. Lets say you driving 25 MPG and then you apply full throttle. Try it sometime. If your a conservative driver with normal driving behaviors you might not ever notice. Nevertheless I doubt highly there is anything wrong with my X3. And I would consider this to be a con of the engine as any lag is worse then no lag at all. Its the nature of turbos. Only displacement or supercharging can overcome the deficit.
@Kimmer
@Kimmer 5 жыл бұрын
@@HiPlains1 Well said. You are correct in that we drive our X3 conservatively most of the time and therefore don't notice the lag too much. I have had to step on it at times when passing, entering on-ramps, etc and you are right - there is some lag which is characteristic of turbos. Which is why I actually prefer driving my Bolt EV on short trips, but love the luxury of the X3 for longer trips. Best wishes with your X3!

Hard to say how long it will last but I know several owners of BMW 2.0L turbos that have over 100k miles on them and no issues, so they should be pretty reliable. It’s probably a good idea to make sure all of the recommended maintenance is performed at each service interval.
