Still rocking my E39 M5 which I've had for nearly twenty years now! I've put over 130,000 miles on the clock. We taught our daughter to drive in it, and our son. We took them to school in it. It still turns heads to this day. Costs nothing to insure and servicing is peanuts. Solid as a rock.

i bet anything the steering wheel, seats, and gear shifter are all nasty greased up with decades of hand oil use. old cars are awful. they really REALLY do feel old because every second you are using the car the minute you step in it. nothing beats a completely new car.

The interior of my M5 is clean and fresh, well maintained and valeted meticulously once a fortnight. Talk for yourself when you harp on about a greasy steering wheel and gear lever. So, Looks are Subjective . I personally like the way this car looks, inside and out. I do agree with the Surprising Weight Issue. Also I agree with the Criticism regarding the meager 25 miles available for Electric use. Like many Customers I actually want a High Performance SUV that’s comfortable and efficient as far as MPG’s are concerned. Last but not least, Most consumers want a sharp exterior and interior design. Again, I can find No Fault with the way the 2025 BMW looks. I think I see a preview of coming attractions. I believe that the 2026 BMW X5 M is going to closely resemble the M5. Hopefully BMW will solve some of its Heavy Hybrid Battery issues???

The looks are entirely subjective yet this guy hands down his opinion on the G90’s aesthetic as objective fact. The car is heavier due to need to navigate regulations yet retain V8. It’s very simple. The E63 is switching to a V6. MB can keep it.

It's the M5. Not M5 competition or M5 CS The V8 is 585hp, previous M5 engine was 635hp. The engine is clearly detuned to 585hp to save the 635hp for the M5 competition. Infact it might get boosted to 650hp. So the competition will be 777hp - 800hp. Then there's the CS model which is likely to be more

This was a great video and I agree with all of your points. What disappoints me is the interior, the weight, and the power. Per the website, this new M5 will tip the scales at a whopping 5,390lbs. The M5 has always been known as the ultimate driving machine in terms of performance, handling, and luxury but with the previous generation F90 LCI weighing in at 4370 lbs, I hope that the handling doesn’t suffer. Next is the interior. I understand that in today’s age technology and convenience are a priority but it seems the luxury brands are taking advantage of this to cost cut and create lower grade interiors. The new M5 has none of the touch points and switch gear that differentiate this from a Kia. I am also disappointed with the power since although the new generation makes more power, it suffers from a decrease its power to weight will likely result in decrease in performance. All that being said, I hope BMW finds its way.

Great summary of how BMW has lost its way. First car I bought was a manual 325ci, followed by a manual e46 M3 and finally a manual e60 M5 (currently daily driver is a Tesla M3P). Nothing since then has been interesting...seems like they just slap turbos on an existing engine along with some M badging and call it good (and of course each new model always weighs more than the last) :/

id like the luxury in the m5, i prefer it that way. its what an m5 was always about a luxury sport car that can be a daily driver. im happy its not light and doesnt just add carbon fiber everywhere with some sports seats. my criticism would be against the weight and performance.

The general car-buying public, even for these "performance" brands, does not have the faintest idea how much a car weighs; they ignore power-to-weight and just see the horsepower figure. This is a testament to the fact, that with twin turbos the norm, you need only up the boost to gain impressive HP figures. It's cheap, and it's easy to market. Reducing weight takes engineering and costs development dollars. Thus, it is ignored by the manufacturers, resulting in the truly ludicrous weight of this car. (they are not the only ones) No doubt BMW will come out with a special, which will cost 10 K more and reduce the weight by 80 pounds. With their serviceability issues, their excess weight (and price), it seems that BMW has decided we are all ignorant and will buy any "product" they put out there. Signed, former M3, M5 owner.

And the rest, I am not sure where to go with it. What is up with not having a gear lever? I don’t think BMW is listening to their customers and clients anymore. Every interview they feed us a bunch of BS and the interviewers are afraid to ask tough questions. The BMW may fool the new buyers, but not the BMW enthusiasts and the people who are loyal to the brand. More so, those who are engineers are not buying these nonsense interviews. You can’t fool us. Cheap plastic door panels, plastic carbon fiber-looking paddle shifts, and no carbon fiber steering. Yet, all of which is available on the M3 and M4 models. The rear diffuser truly looks like an afterthought Lego attachment. And the front kidney grill is identical to the i5 M60. What a joke! While we all rant and blow our tops over the M5's design, I propose a simple solution that could have at least solved the weight issue - split the M5 lineup. TL:DR version - Offer both a petrol M5 with a mild hybrid, and a fully electric iM5 model instead of a Frankenstein combination of the two like we have now. Audi recently split their lineup into even and odd numbers, so for example, the RS4 will become fully electric, whilst the RS5 carries on the petrol lineage of the RS4 nameplate. Meanwhile, BMW announced that the next M3 will have both the regular petrol model and a fully electric model called the iM3. In my opinion, this is what BMW should have done with this new M5, since 5 series nowadays have both petrol and electric variants. The EV sales can easily keep the CO2 credit low, so they're free to make a "dirty" petrol M5 without worrying about government penalties. In short, offer both a traditional petrol M5 with a mild-hybrid system that doesn't carry the weight of a PHEV system, and an electric iM5 model that not only satisfies government regulations, but also gives them time to fine tune their approach to performance EVs before the 2030-2035 petrol ban.

BMW should fire their designers. My neighbor had a 2014 M5 and it’s the most beautiful car i’ve ever seen. I saw the new 5 series and it looks like a pile of dog shit and check this out… it’s slower

I loved BMW, but the completely lost their way. The las great car was the BMW M5 cs, everything around was already ugly, now even the m5 is ugly and way to heavy. They should have noticed how loved the M5 cs was/ is and build on that. Maybe even go hybrid but it should never be heavier then 4000 pounds.
