I don’t mean to convey any disrespect, but you are absolutely Wrong, if your are comparing this parallel twin to 600 inline 4 supersport class sport bikes, completely apples and oranges. Just by saying that alone, tells me you lack serious knowledge concerning sport bikes. You keep talking about your R3, it also sounds like that is your primary experience and base of knowledge. You are clearly not qualified to give any clickbait ‘hates’ regarding a moto, if youve never even owned a real supersport or superbike.

Shows how different people are. Here's my thoughts v yours: 1. I love the exhaust (even stock I like it) as it really sets it apart from everything else and just sounds hot with a decent exhaust. 2. Power is perfect for size, weight and price. Cannot compare bikes with similar CC because it doesn't always work that way. 3. Shifter is okay but you might need to adjust yours to suit your foot. Bonus. Seat is actually quite nice compared to some of the real super sports I've owned. Everything can be more comfy though. 4. Lack of modes and tech is, for some people, a big selling point. I shy'd away from the RS660 because of alllll the tech. I want to go for a ride, not program my flight mode 5. The headlight is my favourite part of the bike. It just looks so hot! The whole design is killer and there's no stupid massive headlight that looks gross. It's all sleek and sexy. Happy riding bro!

That bike literally has the ugliest front end that’s made right now , that and the zx10r have the weirdest looking headlights . Way to futuristic at this point . Also it’s so slim . Too slim . Another problem with Yamaha is the shifting . Don’t know what their problem is but they always have problems with false neutrals and not smooth shifting . That’s why I have stayed away from Yamaha with really sucks bc I really use to love their bikes . If they were going to just through on some fairings on an mto7 they could have made a headlight that isn’t so ugly . It’s terrible

I have to disagree on the the exhaust noise. The R7 CP2 engine sounds phenomenal with a full system. Buddy of mine has a full Akra on his MT07 and it sounds incredible. Definitely not your typical sport bike exhaust note, but it sounds so deep and mean!

Agreed. The reason I am drawn to the R7 over a ZX6R is for the deep mean grunt. If you would prefer an inline 4 sound you should probably just get a ZX6R

I dont like the sound of R7 , the sound fits for MT07 as a naked bike. CP2 is just a lousy copycat soubd of a V4 engine. Try to listen to Honda RSV the one they are using in Pro Racing those are the real deal not the CP 2 cylinder. Crossplane is good in 4 cylinder bikes like R1.

Compared to the Ninja 650 I had, the Crossplane engines sound awesome lol. I would have absolutely opted for a R7 if they were out when I purchased my 650.

I upgraded from a 2015 Yamaha R3 to a 2014 Yamaha MT07 and I have the exact same shifter throw issue, I occasionally shift into neutral when trying to get into 2nd gear, especially when trying to shift quickly and not REALLY putting force into it. I reckon it's the design of the gear lever or gearbox of the MT07 and R7. A few times I have also hit false neutrals from 4th to 5th. I'm not sure if it is adjustable but I have fairly small feet (size 10) so it might be that I dunno. Either way, the CP2 engine is INTOXICATING, the torque and the sound makes all the faults of the MT07 fall away every time I ride. My opinion on the R7 is I don't feel a mid-power twin fits the supersport ergos and style, similar to what you said, something more revvy suits that style like the 180-degree crank of the R3 or something like the high revving inline-4 of the R6. The CP2 engine is great but it falls flat in the high revs and honestly it's top speed isn't that far off from the R3.

As an older rider 57yrs who road Supersport bikes in the 80's and 90's the lack of modes and assistants like traction control etc. is something I like. I am enjoying the R7 but I can see how a younger rider might want more but for me with a few mods like full race pipe and Yoshimura airbox adding a supposed 10-12hp the bike is in the sweet spot keeping me from getting too stupid (can't let that dumb 20yr old hiding inside me rear his ugly head LOL🤣😂).. Stay upright my young friend have fun. 🤘😎🏍

Adjust your shifter and shift linkage for your foot/boot. You may need to lower the angle a few degrees. Just don't lower it enough to make it a contact point on lean. Don't cover or turn off your headlamp, that's a safety/visibility issue.

I have a Ninja 400 already and I now also got an R7.... I love that both these bikes don't have the power of a 4 cylinder 600, or even a RS660.... I love that the R7 is a mini torque beast and I love the grunty/different sound. I love that it's a bit of an underdog that is better suited for the road in terms of its power profile... and I can get on with developing better riding skills without being just another no brains hot head kid on a 600 that gofast in a straight line..I have been on bigger, faster bikes and it gets old quick (looking at you GSX 750R and older FZR 750 and 1000 Genesis). For me what you hate are some of the biggest selling points plus also feel the value is spot on. Nothing beats the reliability of a Yamaha! I feel one really needs to appreciate the maturity it took for Yamaha to create something different. The Ninja 400 also punches way above its weight in the right hands, with a couple mods I easily show up riders on bigger bikes and they respect the hell out of me and the Ninja 400 once we been for ride together.

Do you think it's necessary to start on a 250-400, or something like an r7 or ninja 650 would be an acceptable first bike? (Assuming one is responsible with it)
@101BadBreath
@101BadBreath Жыл бұрын
@@basharsaleh1755 I mean if we were all honest about our actual skills a Ninja 400 would be fine for 90% of riders. The big thing that makes it more acceptable for a beginner is the weight being lower than a R7 or Ninja 650. It also has a very friendly seating position and low seat height. I would even argue that a Ninja 400 is more fun than a Ninja 650 for anyone just based on weight alone (R7 different being a bit more powerful carries the extra weight a bit better IMHO). However the ninja 400 stands apart from everything else below it, I feel that a 250-300 (including a Yamaha R3) can be outgrown pretty quickly, Ninja 400 hits a sweet spot for being beginner friendly and still challenging enough to keep more experienced riders entertained. Ninja 400 is like Labrador puppy with a stick, it is friendly, energetic and fun.That being said, if the new rider is over 6ft tall I might push them to look at a CBR500R as it is quite a bit more spacious even though Ninja 400 has a small edge over it on performance (again most due to bit of extra weight).
@basharsaleh1755
@basharsaleh1755 Жыл бұрын
@@101BadBreath pretty interesting, yeah when i first heard about the 400 i was like ok 400 not too low compared to 250 or 300 i thought those were too low But i have 2 main concerns 1. I don't wanna have to be revving it to cruise at 70 or 80 mph on the highway, so I'm not trying to get a bike slower than my car 2. How fast would i outgrow it, so how long did you have the 400 before you decided to upgrade to an r7
@101BadBreath
@101BadBreath Жыл бұрын
@@basharsaleh1755 1. Ninja 400 will hit 118-120 mph in the right conditions. It's sweet spot for cruising on highway is 65-78 mph without screaming... over 80+ it does start to scream a bit. One could change the sprockets to lengthen gears slightly but did a 2000 mile tour from South Eastern England to up and around Northern Scotland and back... Doing up to 7 hrs on highways some days and decided it didn't need it. Highways are not a problem. I find it pulls strongly till about 108 mph and from there it's a bit pedestrian to get to top speed .. but I hardly ever do over 90. 2. I haven't outgrown mine, I have had it two years... I ride my R7 and sometimes wish I was on the Ninja 400... It's more forgiving, more comfortable and I can learn a lot more from it still... I don't plan to sell it... It's just too much fun. The reason why I have two bikes is because I live between two countries, ninja 400 in UK and R7 is in North Carolina, and Yamaha and Kawasaki are my top two brands with Triumph in third. I have been riding bikes from 1987... ridden many bikes big and small... I am am an average 5ft 9 inch tall and a stocky 185-190 pound 48 year old. What the new ninja does need is an end can as the stock is huge and it will annoy the back of your foot (I have Scorpion Carbon it sounds great), a tail tidy, other extras I have is a smoked touring windscreen and adjustable leavers but those two not necessary. Ps my third bike will be a Z900RS...

Guess what dude, if Yamaha developed a new chassis and engine for the R7 then it would easily be north of 10k. They updated everything on the R7 from the mt07 platform. They made minor tweaks to the engine, updated chassis, brakes, and suspension. Excellent aerodynamics and good tires. All for 9k. Don't need all that electronic junk on this bike. It's a great sport bike for the street and a great tool for the track.

the problem with what he is talking about hp is that its a twin 650 class not an inline 4 600 class like look at the ninja 400 and zx4rr same cc one produces way more hp than the other one but the one with less cylinders beat the one with more hp because you get all the power way earlyer than most he is comparing an f1 car to a nascar they don't do the same type of thing and are built compleatly diferently the closest thing with the r7 and other super sports is how they look cus a 600cc class sport bike that he is talking about making over 100hp are inline 4 made to produce peak hp at higher rpm and have a higher top speed but the r7 does just as good or even better in corner because of a lower weight slimer body and has much better exeleration if you do a drag race with an r7 and an r6 the r7 will beat it as long as its not super long that's because of the type of engine try comparing it to something closer and in the same catigory like a ninja 650 aprilia rs660 things like that cus wanna know something an r6 and r7 dont race in the same catigories your comparing the wrong things an r7 races with the other 2 bikes i mention

Dude it’s not made to go stupid fast. It’s made to be best of both worlds, I’d like to say it’s more track oriented. It’s not fast nor it’s slow it’s just right.
