This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. I agree with you, the break in is no big deal. He doesn't understand tight tolerances on high performance equipment. He needs Jap bikes with with loads of variation. Then he can just go out and thrash the tits of it without concern out of the box. I mean who the F complains about only getting to 9k in break in rotfl. What a clown, then it's of for 4k of the rev range it has a massive flat spot and "needs" re-tuning. rotfl. This guy is a clown. He needs to watch Motoamerica racing or something, then he will see how his flat spot on the stock bike really is. They race these in stock form, this guy is an internet genius and there are loads of them about. I have all brand of bike, including an R1 and this guy is just errrrrrrr in need of a bike less sophisticated lets say. Massey Ferguson or John Deere is more his speed lol.

I owned a 2004 first Gen ZX-10R for almost 20 years and never had a problem with her. Now I have a 23’ for the same reason, Kawasaki’s are bullet proof. Don’t know much about BMW other than they make nice cars.
@haste953
@haste953 Жыл бұрын
@@cain772 yeah japanese bikes are impenetrable, to make them stop working you need to literally throw them a bomb. That's why I said you can't call a Zx10r a low tier bike, not because I hurt my feelings, I don't have a ZX10R, personally I side with Yamaha as its always been my poster brand since I was a kid. BMW makes nice stuff but they're almost never reliable, all S1000R before the current generation were timer bombs and yeah they were the fastest for a while but for average consumers none of that matters if won't work lol. Same happened with BMW cars, not very reliable, it's just german things. Now BMW isn't the speed king, the power king and they never were the reliable king, arguably they aren't the looks king but this is not saying they are bad obviously, I'd love to have an S1000R but if I had to only choose one supersports it wouldn't be my #1 not even #3 choice because it would be be #1 R1 #2 ZX10R #3 2023 RRR Fireblade SP #4 S1000RR.

Im really glad I ran into this video. I had plans to purchase an M1000rr. The information you shared was helpful. I can understand the break in period with these motorcycles. The last thing BMW want, is to hear complaints about customers blowing their engines on a hard break in. But that dead spot between 4000 to 8000 rpm, is a no, no for me. I usually dont tune my motorcycles, because I dont race. But I would still like to have that power, when I need it. Now im thinking to myself. Spend 40,000 on a motorcycle and than spend extra money to get the performance out of it. Now, im second thinking this.

On 7/2 my '23 M pkg w/1900 miles had the same dried blue coolant on the bottom of the pan. Took it out for a bit and noticed a tiny blue puddle under it after cleaning/wiping it down. The dealer picked it up 7/3. Water pump and oil pump are being replaced. All the new parts are in (took 8 days with the holiday) except two bolts. Those should be in on 7/12. Hopefully get it back 7/14. Given the new parts and falling on the 4th of July holiday , I completely understand the turn around time. Love the content btw.

Man I just picked up a “base” black storm RR and I gotta say you can option up a black or red bike with everything the M has, minus the color. You left out the DCC dampers come with the premium pack as well, which to me is the main reason to option Premium pack. So basically I’ve got premium, forged wheels and tpms for less than 23 grand. Now if you want the rear sets, M seat, and battery, it is cheaper to just get the M rather than getting those a-la-carte on the “base”. But as far as creature comforts, I’ve got everything the M has with a more comfortable seat lol. You hit the nail on the head about the break in and dead spot though… it suuuucks!

I can't understand why 20 Years ago, we had good, reliable, pleasant bikes to ride out the showroom, to this... Buys a new bike, needs a flash to make it smooth and enjoyable to ride. Expect to have a coolant leak within a year or two that will potentially go onto your tire (keep in mind coolant is also a lubricant) We need to go back to great, simple bikes. In 15 years, these bikes and most bikes made today will essentially expire due to electrical issues and part supply.

Thx for the honest opinion. BMW will not support you in a warranty claim if you do not run the bike in, it's the first thing they check on the bike in the event of a claim. Some idiots remove the running-in limiter, in which case you can kiss that warranty goodbye. At the end of the day, it's a track bike, where bottom end gutless doesn't matter, and so those 200 ponies all live at the top.

I had a 22 M-Sport here in Australia with a tune and full exhaust. Loved the bike and the wheelie thing can sneak up on you quick. If I sat in the seat it would come up, I just stand on the pegs with full weight, but still keep your butt in the seat just touching whilst leaning over the tank and lean into the screen with your helmet, boom you will sling shot hard from 2nd gear without the front coming up (bumps excluded). I ran wheelie control for a bit while I got used to it and then dialed it back. So many guys are focusing on wheelies, but very few focus on keeping it down and getting that hole shot launch.

I don't understand complaint #3. I'm a Sales Manager at multi-manufacturer bike dealership. I've never had a customer complain about the 600 mile break-in period. BMW has tight tolerances from the factory due to their superb machining & manufacturing. If you want to rev limit your brand new bike out from the dealership parking lot, buy a Suzuki. This restriction is nirmal with the top tier literbikes. And if you don't flash these newer bikes, 600's, 1k's even ZX-4R are all restricted heavily due to the highly restrictive Euro Emissions. If you don't flash the ECU (after break-in,) then you aren't getting the full money's worth of what you paid for the bike. Spend $24k on a bike and the manufacturers are forced to give you only $18k of that in performance. These newer bikes are Ride-By Wire, so on a stock ECU, even though you're at WOT in a higher gear like 5th & it literally rolls the throttle valve open like 78% at 15krpm

Given the type of riding he does, it's likely he was just impatient. He was already trying a rolling race on a brand new bike...

SUPERB MACHINING & MANUFACTURING ...By BMW..but the water pump is leaking. However on my LOWER Tier SUZUKI that has 10,000 miles it is not. Same old BS that happened on their M4 cars too.. waterand oil leaks everywhere !

If you don't like to get on your rear wheel, increase the size of the rear diameter on your motorcycle or even make the front heavier with a different brand or height, you can also play with your sprocket ratio on your chain drive [ count teeth or find the number on it ] and your chain, have fun, see ya freeedom

64.559K views, 2.3K likes, 982 subs...obviously, this video is a favorite...and, it's a great video! So well-produced, in fact, that I liked, subbed, turned on all notifications, & commented...I would be very, very worried, about a potential backorder of 8 months on an OEM water pump, which is known to fail, & already showing signs of wear on your bike...still, too late for you to worry about it now...beautiful motorcycle, & very well-articulated video

Oh yeah we don't get the restricted bikes in Ireland either so once your 1,000km (600 miles) is done your good to go. I have kept my bike totally stock though as my 3 year warranty won't expire until January 2024 - gotta look after your warranty. Seen the comment below on the price increase but lets face it the value for money on the early models including my 2021 m package was insane so its no surprise that the BMW bean counters eventually woke up and upped the price / or cut various features to the options list.

I will have to disagree with you that a factory flashed break-in settings is a bad thing. This actually solves the issue of people having no patience and wearing the motor prematurely from new.

Great bike, but I kinda feel bad for you guys in Florida. Up here in the northeast we have lots of curvy mountain roads that these bikes shine on. I'm not a highway guy any I mostly ride solo so a lot of the issues you have don't bother me. You have a beautiful bike and I hope you get years of good use out of it.

Insurance in British Columbia would be 1500 a year, one province over, in alberta, the insurance is 380 a year. Needless to say I "moved" my address to alberta. I have 2500miles on my M R comp in 3 weeks of ownership. Ironbutt level attained.

If you like 1000 you like Kawasaki ZX 10 that thing's a beast and for the dollar you can't beat it I like the bigger bikes personally zx1400 Hayabusa those kind of bikes but that' ZX10 is sweet. My next bike either the Ducati Street Fighter V4 or the Ducati Diaval V4 man that thing is sweet. Getting rid of my Hayabusa I'm just tired of it.

I'll stick with Japanese bikes. German and Italian bikes are great performers, but maintenance is much more costly. Cross plane crank for me bay beeee! Honda and Yamaha have the most motogp wins of any bike manufacturers there are 😍 BMW didn't even have a sportbike line until 2009.

Imo the s1k is the best all around bike. You can commute it, track it, and rip up the street. The seating position is super comfortable, so you can ride it for hours without a break. I got my S1000rr M last month and put 1300+ miles on it so far.
