I got my passport through your firm one year ago, and then I instructed your company to get the Vietnamese national ID. So far, I have not had any update from your company as to the progress of that application. I have sent a couple of emails to your company to enquire on any update without a single reply.

Make sure you sign it in the correct spot. There was a period where birth city wasnt included and the signature page didnt have a line through the middle of the page so it wasnt clear where to sign. Immigration didnt like this but let my wife exit but it was easy to get a replacement from SF VN consulate.

Can you please advise if under the given name they actually list the first name, middle name. NOT middle name , first name. That does not resolve things overseas if they list under Given Name as 'middle name, first name' order.

Hello, I am Viet Kieu living in Houston. I just got my Vietnamese passport! I plan to go to Vietnam in the Summer. I bought a plane ticket using the U.S. passport number. When entering Vietnam, do I use the Vietnam passport? Do I also use it when exiting Vietnam? Finally, when I enter Houston, I know I have to the U.S. PASSPORT? What happened when they don’t see the Vietnam stamp on it (and wonder where I flew in from???)…

You entering Vietnam with Vietnamese passport, exiting Vietnam with Vietnam passport. Same with the US, you are exiting US with US passport and returning US with US passport, don't worry about the stamp, just give the customs officer the passport and they will let you in

If I decide to get Dual Citizenship, would that make my husband eligible to get the 5 year Visa exemption as well as Dual Citizenship since he would be married to a Vietnamese citizen?

Yes and no. He will need to show sufficient contributions to the economy.

My husband is Viet descent but when we met with a lady from Duong global she said he couldn't get it. So this info given in the video is not aligned with their services.

Thanks for your comment. Not everybody qualifies for it nor do we say it so. That is why we offer a free assessment to review cases and determine whether applicants are eligible. There are 2,000,000 Vietnamese descents in the US. Some can get the passport, some do not meet the requirements. So, at risk of stating the obvious, this video provides free information about the Vietnam passport but it is in no way, shape or form an individual assessment of all cases. Last but not least, we would rather reject a case than taking it and charging fee for the time spent and knowing that your passport will not be granted. Having said that, if your husband does not meet the requirements, there are alternatives to the Vietnam passport based on individual needs and our law firm will be more than happy to go over those options with you.

So are you saying that a VN citizen needs the NEW ID to be able to buy land? I am asking because my wife is a VN citizen but cant get the new ID. They just wont issue it in Saigon since she is from Dak Nong and also when we got married she was remvoed from the family book etc... Just tried to buy a motorbike and it didnt work because they said my wife needed the new ID and of course I only have the 5 year visa exemption which aparently isnt enough. We were wanting to buy a house but not sure if the new ID thing is an issue.

Vietnam differentiates the Vietnam passport from the citizenship. In Vietnam, the passport is literally taken for what it is. In other words , passing the ports (borders). While citizenship (which includes passport, national id and family book) means you have acquired the rights of a national citizen and buy any property you want as a local and other rights that locals have. Once you get the passport, she can work towards citizenship if it is something that she is looking for as long as she has a family sponsor.

@@duongglobalbusinessconsulting she is already a citizen born and raised in Vietnam but she doesn't have the new E- ID. She has been trying to get it but the problem is her family removed her from the family book for some reason with the business and she is not from Saigon so they turn her away. She has been trying to get the E-ID but agent said it would take at minimum a month and she would have to be living in Dak Nong the whole time. That's not something she wants to do since we live and work in Saigon. Seems like this whole E-ID thing is a big mess. We want to buy a house in Saigon but I guess we can't until she gets the E-ID and she can't get the E-ID until she gets a permanent address and added to someone's family book.

What are the criteria’s for the expedited passport process? Your website talks about it but when I applied last year, was told that it is no longer an option. Was willing to pay extra. I have my birth certificate. It’s going on 6 months and still no word on my application.

If you haven't received any update, that is because your application is still in progress. We do not give updates for submitted applications that are being processed by the authorities until we get a confirmation or other request for efficiency purposes. Getting dual citizenship also means that timeframe and evidence vary on a case-by-case basis. That is why we say that it takes on average 3 to 6 months. The keyword here is on average. It may take less, it may take more time. We work on each case. However, that does not mean that we are granting passports by ourselves. We are always dependent on the authorities. As to the reason why we determine you were not eligible for the expedited process, we cannot say for sure because first, we need to know your real name and case number to review the reason. We do not know your Internet alias. Second, even if we knew, we would not disclose it on a KZfaq comment for confidentiality purposes. But a common reason as to why applicants do not qualify for expedited process is the lack of family and additional historical tie evidence to Vietnam added to the case. Ultimately, hang on, as this is the last stretch before you get the passport! So, you will get it soon and thank you for your patience..

How do I get the VN passport ? My wife n I were burned in VN n our parents sponsored us here. We still have a very old pp , like in year 1983. N cost to replace the new passport. Thx

Just contact the VN embassy of the country you're in and they can instruct you. I have done it and it's straight forward if you have your old passport or birth certificate.
