Okay - so these aren't super advanced iPhone features - but they weren't very well publicized either!
First on the list is using handoff from the multitasking menu. They included the handoff feature in the keynote but they only showed it working from the lock screen. I was surprised (and relieved) to find it in the multitasking menu. Makes a lot more sense to have it there.
The second thing I show is how to hide predictive text. Sometimes I just wanted to get it out of my way without disabling it completely. It was also just a happy coincidence that I found you can simply drag down on the predictive text pane to make it slide out of sight - easy peasy.
Next up is checking battery stats. That's right: now tucked away with your storage usage is your battery usage. Take a dive into the settings app to see which apps are the most power hungry. Hey! It could help to significantly extend the life of your phone!
It's pretty cool that you can bark commands at your phone without ever even having to touch it, but lets face it, apple's tethered only approach is pretty crippling. Fortunately it's a little less crippling once you figure out that Siri can be used completely handsfree after you open her up one time. Super handy when you need to use your phone sans hands.
The last one is by far my favorite. I have been using the speak selection accessibility option for years on my phone to skirt reading boring emails and long articles. Recently my wife's phone starting reading pages randomly whilst my toddler played with her phone. I dove into the settings to find the culprit. Somehow my son had managed to enable a setting called "Speak Screen." Enable it and all you have to do is drag down with two fingers from the top of your phone and your handy little assistant will read you the entire screen. Way easier than selecting all of the text for her to read. Did I mention my son is a genius?
Hope you enjoyed! I apologize if you learned nothing useful from this video. I was trying to change things up a bit from the typical case reviews. I have three more of those coming up. Im also working on reviewing the Mountek Grove snap and reach and a handlebar mount from rokform. Make sure and hit subscribe so you will see when those videos are up!
