Made to fit perfectly for bomber flight crews with O2 masks. Not the entire air crew, just the officers on the flight deck. Enlisted gunners had the goggles like fighter crews. Fell out of spec in the jet age when they made new sunglasses to fit beneath flight helmets.

My husband retired from the Air Force after 21 years. (A-10 pilot) The bases we were stationed at were almost always in the absolute worst part of town. We live in Vegas now and he’s a contractor at Nellis. The neighborhood around base is so bad that the Walmart just outside the gate was shut down because of stabbings in the store!

Can verify, had a father who was stationed at NelliS before he got out, and while growing up there that placed looked like Marty McFly's neighborhood in the bad version of the future in Back To The Future Part II. We used to have regular lockdowns in elementary school over stupid stuff going on in the neighborhood. Ended up joining the Army, and coincidentally went to AIT with a guy that grew up in the same culdesac as me.

I used to live by the smith's on Ann and Revere (By Camino El norte) my friends and I would always go ride dirt bikes right north of the base and see the bombers fly in. One day I took a drive to watch red flag days and got close to the base and suddenly realized how messes up of a neighborhood it was.... never went down that road again. I grew up in Vegas and lived there for 14 years on and off. Each time I go back I realize it's just a shit hole that keeps getting bigger and bigger

The US was the origin of the famous BT series tanks (BT-2, BT-5, BT-7, BT-7M, BT-SV, RBT-5 and countless others) the tank was an american design by Christy who used a horizontal lever to activate the suspension springs. Its a fun fact!
