The daal chawal comment is a dialogue from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani where his character says those exact words. He used it in this scenario to say that he’s happy with his daal chawal because his wife brings spice and flavor to his life. It’s a compliment. But everything else he said… was not. But this is nothing new. He used to be my favorite contemporary actor of the 2010s but his offscreen persona was intolerable. At worst was during the promotions of Jagga Jasoos with Katrina Kaif. My god did she dodge a bullet!

The first one too seems to be a harmless comment.
