Yes, though it does require more maintenance. If you aren't comfortable putting permanent ink in this 200$ gold nib pen, I recommend a 6$ Preppy.

Sketching is often easier with finer lines so you can thicken them for the finalized drawing. Typically, I prefer the EF or F for sketching and will go for a wider Architect or Italic nib for drawing.

@@59jaguarFrom my experience, steel nibs are less soft though for ex Sailor 14k nibs are stiff. It depends if you like bouncy effect (Pelikan, some Pilot). For me, once I wrote with a gold nib, I fell in love. Bouncy, soft no matter if it's Extra Fine (expect feedback) or Zoom nib but 14k, 18k or 21k. I do own and love steel nibs. Another consideration are plastic or ebonite feeds being the last ones better with ink flow. If you really don't want to spend money trying pens you may or not like, then I suggest attend Pen Shows where you can write and feel so what you buy is what you really like. This can be a very expensive (even waste money) hobby. Inks, same thing, some are not lubricated, dry, too wet,etc so I recommend ink samples from Vanness (biggest selection) or any other seller before you buy bottles you may end not using.
