Great video.Just FYI most Federal Parks which include waterways that run through them prohibit UAS flights. I fly full size aircraft in law enforcement and our jurisdiction has a federal park which prohibits any aircraft over flights under 2000 feet about the ground which is way over the 400 foot ceiling the FAA has put on drones. I know they have violated several full sized aircraft for flying too low over the wildlife sanctuary as of late. The Fed’s don’t play around so be mindful if kayaking and using a drone in “managed wildlife” areas.

I really appreciate the details that you covered in this video. I am an avid kayaking enthusiast and a RC hobbyist and the two are incredibly fun but often a bit unnerving to blend together. The storage and custom landing gear solutions in particular are awesome man.

I love this thanks! I bought a drone that i cant try before my vacation because theres a lot of drone paperwork in germany. I wanted to make videos while kayaking but was worried about the return to home point function. Would be really frustrating to watch my 1k dollar drone take a dive while i paddle after it. I will deffinetely change the controller to home point. Very great informative video!

Great video. I'm going kayaking soon on a river through a flooded swamp. There are no flat areas for launching so I'll be doing hand launching and catches. It's a DJI Phantom 3, so I have more grip room for this. Your video has been very helpful.

I always do that, even got business cards to my youtube-channel to hand out to people that you meet while out filming and explain what and why you are doing what you´re doing. Great tips. I just picked up an inexpensive but decent drone and was planning on using it for so kayak shots. Since I mainly kayak rivers (narrow tree lined) this is going to be interesting to use with out hitting the trees. It does have gps and following tech so that helps. Thanks for the ideas.

Good tips, thanks! Have you waterproofed your drones? I've collected a few lower grade drones to act as a flying bridge or tuna tower for my kayak. I went low-end as I was not willing to risk losing a grand on a drone in the water. I've had great results using silicon conformal coating and corrosionX for waterproofing and I'd like to upgrade. But I'm still wary (and cheap!)

What I use for my DJI Spark is a fully waterproof hard case, within a tied garbage bag.

Just registered my DJI Spark. Lots of time will be spent on the a learning curve for my quadcopter. Hopefully, by summer-time I'll have found a safe spot to take 'Sparkle' out on my kayak.

I have a few question, What is the best software to use for editing MAVIC AIR Drone on 1080p , and GOPRO 5 BLACK on 1080p on window PC laptop, and desktop computer for beginner? For Cinematic, Dolly Zoom, Color Grading, and Color Correction Also include with video, Photo, and songs or music that's included with in the software? That I can share on social media Facebook, Instagram, and especially KZfaq. Wanted to do vacations jet skis snorkeling videos and photos photos, and local event. Do you have to be a certain height over water with the drone? Or do you have to turn off the downwards sensors? I also kajak and want to use my drone for that activity. But I lost my Mavic Mini 1 as it decided to take a dive (lots of battery left).

Just bought the Mavic (my first drone ever) and I'll be using it mainly for kayaking videos. Next week I will be shooting a kayaking trip in Seychelles and have 7 days to gain some experience with the Mavic... Yeah, no pressure at all ;) Been studying it for a few days now (still in theory mode - KZfaq and reading) and there's one question that keeps bugging me which I'm sure you can answer: Since I plan to fly the Mavic mostly over water - is there a way to set and limit MINIMUM altitude, same as with maximum altitude, in order to make sure the drone will not attempt to take a plunge? (like the ancient roman Cato did: (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carthago_delenda_est) He ended every speech with the demand of the ancient town of Carthage being destroyed - and eventually the romans did so.) I'm from Germany and a kayaker as well and because of too many too stupid kayakers here over the last decades, more and more rivers and lakes are banned for us now. Same will happen to drone pilots ... you can already predict it ...

Great video , but as for that fool that's trashing it for the rest of us , I don't think you can fix stupid . There is just way too much of it to fix , , , I had a friend say "There's only one way ." I told him "Nope not enough bullets in the whole world " . Something I did notice was your not flying with a (Getterback) look up getterback.com you'll be glad you did . I fly over water most of the time also . It won't keep you from crashing into water but you will have a good chance of getting it back from the depths up to 100 feet .
