Money may not be able to buy happiness, but it can alleviate a lot of UNhappiness. Exchanging house keys with trusted family or friends and having checking on each other's homes even if there is only a couple of days can make a difference in bad things happening.Having neighbors' have your phone number or family member's numbers might off-set problems that could be caught faster. That happened with my aunt and uncle when they fell out with the friends who talked them into moving far from family into a retirement community in AZ. When things got bad and my uncle finally called my sister, people there told her they wished they had known who to call in the family.

Excellent ideas! Guns, cash, jewelry, and collectable coins are limited on your homeowners insurance. You can get a rider to cover more.

I can’t call our insurance agent until tomorrow because it’s Sunday, but as I listened to your sage advice it occurred to me that when we bought this house it was very run down (bad renters and squatters) and in foreclosure. We paid $93,100 for an 18 room pre-Civil War brick house on 20 acres. Our most recent assessment was for over $700,000. I don’t know if the insurance reflects the current value, and at least in our area houses sell for well over their assessed value. Heaven forbid anything will happen, but you woke me up to a potentially catastrophic oversight. Thank you so much!!❤

Great video AG! Another idea is to get an accordion file just for receipts. Any time you make a purchase, including groceries, be sure to keep your receipts. For non food or personal care items, also scan the receipt and put it in a folder in your computer. That way if you are unable to access the physical receipt, you have a digital copy. It only takes a minute to do but can be invaluable in an emergency.

Insurance in Fla is almost unimaginable & cancelation on the increase. Much because of false reports of roof damage & they even had lawyers run commercial on the radio & TV. We were amazed at the kindness of adjusters who came to our home after Hurricane Andrew but now is a different story & We do not live near the water .
