I just discovered that I already used those tips but I didn't give such an easy explanation like you did: now I realize that I'll play better 'cause I know what I'm doin' and I can use it in a wiser and more tasteful way! 😁😁👍👍 It's a pleasure to listen to you! Thanks a lot Leigh! 👍👍👍👍

Hey Luca, that's awesome, thanks for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I'm glad it helped you dig deeper into the stuff you were playing! I did these things for years too, without actually knowing what I was doing, but then when I found out what I was doing, it allowed me to intentionally use them in a tasteful way! Glad it helped!

For see that I am understand… For example, in e min metal track if I start with minor pentatonic and phrygian in the same box, with the same key if I go in the box up at the thent fret, Can I use myxolidian mode shape and.. Dorian ? Correct? Yes? If I have understand this I am very happy 😀

Hey Michele, Thanks for checking out the video and for the comment. So the approach to Modes in this video is a little different. They're all based off a pentatonic shape. I mention in the video that you can learn modes as a sequence of 7 scales within a key that connect to each other, but we can also use them in a singular place to create a specific sound - that's the approach here. So we're taking the Minor Pentatonic (1 b3 4 5 b7) or the Major Pentatonic (1 2 3 5 6) and adding "modal" notes to that existing shape. In the case of Phrygian, adding the b2 and the b6. If you want to make that Dorian, raise the b2 to a 2 and raise the b6 to a 6. Over an E Minor track, you'd need to play Mixolydian in G for it to work. E Phrygian would be E F G A B C D G Mixolydian would be G A B C D E F It's the same notes, but re-stacked from a G. The Mixolydian mode, in this method, would be the same shape scale, but it would fall into E Major, not E Minor. E Mixolydian functions over E Major because it's 1 2 3 4 5 6 b7, it's basically a major scale with a b7 (Which gives it a slight minor feel but still overall major sounding). There are loads of different ways to learn and use modes, but this approach I find suits players who prefer playing Pentatonic based solos. It allows you to unlock a few extra notes around your existing pentatonic shapes from different modes to create certain sounds. In the video description there it a link to an article I wrote for Ultimate Guitar which has all the theory written out too. Hope that helps a little!

Ok I understand, if you know 5 pentatonic positions and 5 positions of natural scale, I think with my approach that you can add other notes simply by changing fingering, starting from Phrygia instead of aeolian in the same box, for me (exclusively for me) my approach is more practical because I never remember the alterations in key of A# for example. But I have no teachers and I would like to understand if it is right, I think yes so because I don't hear any false notes with my approach but I was looking for confirmation
