Ride along in N17520, my Beech Bonanza from Atlanta to Charlotte and explore some of the tips, hacks, tricks & gotchas I've encountered while learning to operate the Garmin G3X Touch in my Beech A36 Bonanza.There are some special considerations when connecting the G3x, GTN 650 and GTX 345 to the Genesys S-TEC 30 Autopilot and iPad with ForeFlight.

This is the second video i’ve seen where the g3x can’t build a flight plan on the 650 and the direct to and nearest don’t use the 650. I couldn’t find any info on this limitation. Your video is 11 months old, has this been resolved with a software update or a component addition or reconfiguration? Or have you otherwise learned how to command the 650 from the pfd? Thanks

Cory, if you had to do it again, would you do a remote mount audio panel?

I'm not sure how we could've done a remote audio panel without adding a 750. A friend has his baron in the avionics shop now and is going with a 750 and remote audio panel and transponder.

We have factory tuned injectors in this Bonanza. I had GAMIs in my last Bonanza. I was running LOP in this video. I always fly LOP on cross country trips.

Cory, what was the approximate sticker price for that whole glass cockpit upgrade.? I’ll not be offended if you don,t want to broadcast that on here , but couldn’t figure out how to pm you, lol. I,m just learning to fly out of Fulton county in atl and pricing planes and upgrades

Are you sitting down? I can’t speak to Cory’s install, but depending on what you install (G500txi vs G3X), a ground up refit of Garmin equipment with a GFC500 and EIS will run between 70 and 90 in most Bo’s. This provides for all new breakers and cutting a new panel. Utilizing an existing functional AP will save quite a bit; just be aware of the interface limitations as noted in his video.

I’ve been flying the experimental G3X Touch for four years now, 250 hours, and here are a few more shortcuts you might like: * Full screen is not necessarily the fastest or easiest way to switch windows. You can use one of the knobs on the display screen (depending on which knob you programmed) to switch between windows. Map is all the way to the left, chart is next to it, the two most common for me. Going to full screen is a time waster. The screen names are also in a row at the bottom, and you can touch the desired screen and bring it up immediately; * One of those screens is the video screen, so you don’t have to go down two levels to see what the VIRB is looking at; * I know an awful lot about G3X Touch, but I still don't know it all... * Next time you're passing by Savannah, GA, come fly with me.

Thanks for the comment Ed. It was Gus's first time flying "in formation" so we kept it very simple. He held heading and altitude, and I tucked in beside him. There is no requirement for a FFI card, but Gus plans to join a B2Osh Formation Flying Clinic this spring. Per 14 CFR § 91.111: a) No person may operate an aircraft so close to another aircraft as to create a collision hazard. (b) No person may operate an aircraft in formation flight except by arrangement with the pilot in command of each aircraft in the formation. We kept a pretty good distance and had agreement in advance on what we were going to do. Safe Skies!
