In this video, we will share with you 5 tomato secrets that you can get about 100 kilos of tomatoes from 5 or 6 seedlings you plant in a small area. As we mentioned in previous videos, you may know some of this information, but for beginners, this information is gold. Let people have the pleasure of growing something with taste.
Our first secret is that tomatoes are not planted in cold soil. This is the golden rule and even if you don't follow the items we'll explain next, you'll get one tomato less or two more tomatoes, but if you don't follow this rule, maybe you won't eat any tomatoes at all.
We tried to explain it in many videos, we tried to explain it emphatically, both in seedling production videos and in videos about planting seeds. The golden rule of natural production is no tomato planting in cold soil. Tomato hates cold soil, and takes revenge on those who planted it on this soil during the season.
Never think, "The sooner we plant, the sooner we get our first tomato". Even after the average last frost date for your area, tomatoes should not be planted outdoors. The most suitable date is 3 or 4 weeks after the last frost.
Let's give a little information here, 2 weeks after the frost date, peppers, 3 weeks after the eggplants, 4 weeks after the tomatoes are the most suitable dates for planting in open field.
There is no difference between the tomatoes you planted in the first week of May and the tomatoes you planted in the first days of June in terms of yield during the season, but if we look at the problem, there is a huge difference. We tried to explain these issues in detail in other tomato videos.
Our second secret is deep planting in a rich soil.
Tomatoes show a very good growth cycle in soils rich in compost. This good growth cycle allows it to protect itself from diseases and pests. In addition, by planting deep, it allows it to take more roots, hold on to the soil better and take nutrients better. Better food means stronger plant. .
Our third secret is to prune tomatoes without fear.
An unpruned tomato is a troublesome tomato. In the tomato pruning video, we explained how to prune with all the details.
Our fourth secret is to grow tomatoes vertically to improve air circulation and maximize sunlight. So suspend the tomatoes.
Our fifth secret is something that may change a little depending on the environment. To prevent early and late blight, water the plants at soil level and avoid touching the leaves with soil or water.
