That's what I mean when I say your the 'Bob Ross' of guitar builders...your non-standard tools & techniques are on paar with Bob's use of on-standard paints brushes and painting techniques. Way to think outside the box. 👍

Hey Shawn, I didn’t get to record the stuff I was able to do for my electric fender I got from Zeny on Amazon last year for my birthday. But I wanted to say thank you so much for showing us all how you repair and fix these Amazon products. My guitar sounds better and cleaner. I still need to intoneate the thing. It’s sharp when I get into the higher frets. But I can tell you it still sounds 100💯 better after adjusting the neck. I’m waiting for my fret tools and radius sanded block to do the frets. So thank you so much for all you and Kathy do, and all the cool things I’m learning from your channel. I am so happy I found it and stuck around. Now I don’t miss any episodes ever.

Killer! I'm a retired machinist, cnc programmer and you're absolutely right. Setting up that cnc takes longer than some simple router fixtures. I do the same thing. I have to make my own tools too. It's good to see that I'm not the only one doing things that way. Whatever works.

I've been wanting an X-Carve CNC for a long time. I bought most of the things to build my own. Just need another set of linear bearings, the stepper motors, drivers, breakout boards, motherboard, etc. Basically all the electronics & a set of linear bearings. It's a project I started gathering parts for maybe 7 or 8 years ago, then put on the back burner.

Thank you for "zooming out" and explaining your tool designs! The router set up in the past had me a little concerned and curious why you didn't make a typical router table. Now i see the whole picture. I can see how how solid it is and easy to adjust, much easier, than a typical router table. This is an awesome idea as long as you keep an eye on the fingers! 😆. Love that drill press table. Very stable and plenty of room on it. No tippy parts in either set up!

Well done!! If you do any work, eventually you'll need a tool that you don't have. Don't just run to the store and spend a ton. Do the Scarred way and make your own it it's possible.It'll be exactly what you need and you'll have more pride in your work. Plus you can help others and that's a great feeling. Great advice, thanks Shawn,!!!

@10:29 2 minutes 24 seconds to cut those frets. It would have been much faster, but you stopped after the first cut to explain a little bit. That is a very invaluable tool, I like it. Btw, most KZfaqrs would have charged for his CNC files. Dude just gave it away for free to anyone who has a CNC. He’s generous and genuine, folks! He really wants people to learn and make things accessible to everyone wherever possible so there no excuses not to try your hand at repairing and building your own guitars. Don’t be a dummy. I dig it man, I really like your overhead router, does that piece you made for your drill press keep the bit from wobbling and drifting through the wood? Im still surprised by that.
@scarmyguitar
@scarmyguitar 19 күн бұрын
The key to keep the wobble out is to get a real hard, good bit with the spike on the tip. Then make sure to go slow and look at the bit and make sure it's not bending, as it needs to be straight the whole cut. Don't clamp the body down so it can move with the bit. I don't know how to explain how I do it. It just takes practice and patience.
