My ex moved out, after 7 1/2 years of marriage, saying “We had gotten married too young, and we needed time to enjoy being single.” The biggest issue was we had 3 month old baby. No matter, off he went leaving me with his debts, no job, and no financial support. What a relief it was to see him leave. After 4 1/2 years later I remarried and have had a happy life for the last 41 years. I can still see the ex leaving complaining I wasn’t crying. I did have, “ I am finally divorced party”. His brother and wife were there to help me celebrate. My In-laws were very supportive. I am very good friends with my ex sister-in-law. I dropped husband but still maintain his family. Life is so good. My advice is mourn the death of who you thought your spouse was and find the joy of being free of the imposter.

I showed this video to a male friend who is getting a divorce. He found out his wife of 5 years was cheating on him with a work mate. He said it's the best advice he's had. And yes he has moved back in with Mom and Dad. Mind you it's her Mom and Dad. They sort of disowned there daughter after her life choices. We will see what happens. Thanks Sarah. You are brilliant. Cheers from the pacific northwest. Canada side.

You poor thing 😢 I’m sorry it didn’t go as planned 25 years ago. But, I know some things that will help you. For example, you WILL be ok. Period. Just go through the paces with a good lawyer, get your paperwork filled out and turned in on time, know that it’s completely ok to beat the steering wheel and/or the dashboard of your car to shite and back - turns out they are built pretty strong and I highly doubt you’ll damage the car. Your hands might be another story so protect them … especially if you’re a pianist, violinist, car mechanic, and so on if you know what I mean. Your new mantra: I WILL be ok. I WILL be ok. I WILL be ok. I WILL be ok. I WILL be ok. I WILL be ok. I WILL be ok. I WILL be ok. I WILL be ok. I WILL be ok. You will be ok. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. 🫂

I'm glad you were able to get through your divorce. I'm struggling now with mine, in that my ex isn't doing the things she agreed to in the divorce, like making the house and car payments, despite the state taking more than double our arranged support out of my paycheck every month. Not having kids makes the process easier, for sure.

I'm sorry to hear this. If I can give my experience. You talk about it to everyone, you repeat the stories in your head, you evaluate every issue over and over again. At times you wonder if these thoughts can't get out your head, will you ever be normal again..... . . . One day you wake up and think about the other person and suddenly another thought occurs, "Gawd I'm so tired and bored of these thoughts..... " . That's the moment you are recovering and on your way out of the mental trap. I truly wish you luck Sarah.

Twice divorced, first time my fault for falling out of love. Second time definitely NOT my fault. It sucks when it happens. But life goes on. I can’t help wondering if Sarah nailed it when she didn’t live with him but had a long term part time relationship. I watched the clip about the dog sitting when she sings, which was funny. But before she got to that bit, she said she’d stopped singing because her husband told her she sounded dreadful and to stop singing. I’m still processing that. “Don’t relax and enjoy yourself *dear*, because I don’t like the sound of it”. Then Sarah sang. OMG my husband might envy the fact that she can actually hold a tune. If I sing solo accapella I sometimes nail it and sometimes just slip and slide somewhere in the vicinity of the correct notes but not necessarily sticking to the correct tune (even accounting for missing notes and singing off-key). If my husband wants to hear good music he puts his airpods in, which I think is the very definition of good boundaries. (Especially as we have some overlapping taste in music but I do love me some 70s and 80s where he’s more into 21st century symphonic metal.)
