AliExpress has a bit of a reputation for cheap rubbish, but I've been buying virtually all my bike parts from it since around 2018. I must have bought 1000’s of things related to road bikes and cycling over the years, and while some of them have been pretty awful (and in some cases quite dangerous), there are a lot of hidden gems too.
In this episode I'll cover 5 of those, and you can find my affiliate links to everything talked about below.

I've been riding RideNow TPU tube since Sept last year. Advantages: *much* lighter than butyl tubes, spares take up *much* less space, better ride feel, lower rolling resistance, high contrast colour makes it easy to see if a tube is being pinched. Disadvantages: harder to patch (tiny holes are difficult to see), have to be careful not to over inflate when not in a tire. Some find them more difficult to handle, I find they're just different than butyl and need to handled accordingly. Not more difficult, just different. For me, they're a winner.
@mellis4726
@mellis4726 Жыл бұрын
I successfully patched one today using the RideNow kit. It's a bit trickier than patching butyl though. Being less bulky, they're easier to insert in the tire, but you have to be very careful not to punch them. Has anyone inflated one with CO2? I'd be concerned about freeze/rupture. They make such great compact spares that I'm eventually going to try using an inflator myself.
@CarlForde
@CarlForde Жыл бұрын
@@mellis4726 I had trouble patching according to the package directions. I've patched a couple of holes by applying glue around the hole letting it dry for a few seconds then placing the patch on, then putting wood block on it and leaving it for a couple of hours. At home I use a floor pump. When I get a flat on the road I use co2 inflater and inflate in stages to keep the valve and tube from freezing. Works for me.

Got the IGS630 and I love how easy it is to set up your main screen display by playing with the app. This features makes my old Garmin 530 look primitive in comparison, plus it connects to GPS way quicker and the buttons on this one wouldn't drop off like what happened to the 530. Given that the 540 etc is almost double the price of this, getting the IGS630 is a no-brainer.

Interesting finds as always. Though since I often right through the night in mixed lighting conditions I find that my Magicshine RN3000 does it really well for me. At 700 lumens, the second level setting I've never run out of battery while out riding. It has a promised runtime of about 11 hours at that mode after all. It has the capability to charge your devices on the go as well in case of an emergency, caveat is though, you need a type c to whatever your device is kind of cable to use it. I had to get a type c to USB-A cable to accommodate all my charging needs. If you don't mind the clutter you can charge it while your phone is on the bike i.g. a quadlock mount for example and literally charge it on the go. For the Cyclocomputer though, my money's on Trimm One Lite still. For just a little bit more than the IGS630 you get a head unit that includes a solar charger and a speed sensor powered by the sun as well, for virtually infinite battery life. It has great mapping features and the route can be edited through the app and has some degree of re-routing as well. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it as well, in case you're interested to get one.

Hi Luke, thanks for another stellar production worthy of the baguette Baftas! 🥖🥖🥖🥖. I started using those vittoria latex tubes you have, lovely supple ride but by their very nature lose air quite rapidly. I swopped over to the Ridenow tpu tubes, immediate economical reduction in weight and air retention relatively good! I wasn't quite sure what to do with those little rubber rings they provide?? Seal the valve hole on the outside, or to be used on the inside the tyre carcass?? Keep up the great work and enthusiasm, your hard work will be rewarded and hope that you'll start to get more sponsorship as well as more subscribers!! +1 for the YBN chain recommendation. With counterfeit Shimano/SRAM/KMC chains being so common these days, I switched to YBN because they are a known quantity and don't have counterfeits. Interestingly, I've got more miles out of my YBN's than any other chain brand except Campy. Their SLA models are particularly long wearing.

Bought most things from Ali Express, frame and fork and bars from Carbonda. Works pretty well, I put a Sensah Empire Pro on it. Thinking of changing to Ltwoo over the next winter for the hydraulic, and maybe electronic if available in a price I want to pay! My first bike computer for recording my rides was a TomTom sports watch back in 2018. The TomTom could connect with HR/Speed/Cadence sensors and via GPS record the route. It had a probleme keeping contact with the cadence sensor so a year later (2019) I bought the iGS50E which was then the second best from iGSport which also worked great. The reason I went for iGSport was because Garmin and the like were to expensive. In 2022 iGSport then brought out the iGS620 which I then bought because of the Navi and as I'm a 71 year old pensioner and time on my hands I can upload a lot of routes to ride.

Can definitely vouch for the Ridenow inner tubes. Using them on my road bike and 26" mtb - very good performance so far. Would make good carry along spares for the tubeless tribe.

Excelent advice! I have exactly the same front light and I simply love it. I can tell all you said and one more thing you forgot, its let’s say “head” part where the LED, reflector and On Off switch is, it can be rotated to set it right if mounted on “garmin” mount. I personally using Bryton and I have genuine aluminium on front computer mount, so I put my light below computer and it looks so sleek, as from factory. Really good light. It seems Enfitnix will make one new model even stronger soon.

Liked the video (as always), subscribed, already purchased a Siroko winter outfit with your link, and I'll probably soon get a summer one too because as you well say... they're just awesome!! I simply adore your channel, and absolutely have tons tons of respect for the huge bet you went for becoming a full time youtuber. Wouldn't really know how to give you an advice for future content, but so far anything you published has been golden!! 🔝🔝🔝 So please, keep going on like this! 👍👍👍

As a regular commuter, none of these products seem necessary for me. But the inner tube and chain will come in handy when things inevitably go south. That said, love the style, attitude and your charisma is overflowing. I'm sure I'd watch you talk about the intricacies of individual corn flake geometies from a series of brands of brekfast cereals. The studio levels of editing with a few good jokes thrown in there for spice make for wonderful viewing. Keep up the good work, you wonderful man, you!

I've been using TPU tubes for some time and they are fantastic. Their benefit is mainly from rolling resistance however they do make the bike feel more agile and nimble and that's due to weight difference. Given all the titanium/carbon upgrades you can make tpu innertubes shouuld be the first thing to do given cost per gram saved. In on my gravel e-bike I shaved off 240g just by replacing innertubes. And it may be placebo but they seem to take a bit of an edge from road chatter.

Listen Luke that 1995 look is my Dad look in 2023! Love it. I bought those tubes a couple weeks ago. Interested to see how well they hold up. I have used latex tubes as well. They are fine but the weight savings of the TPU can’t be beat. 🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖

I bought 4 of the RideNow TPU inner tubes and am very happy with them. One came with a slow leak, but I managed to patch it with their own patch kit. Just use plenty of their glue and keep pressing the patch back down if it tries to curl up while the glue dries. 🥖🥖🥖

Great video, @8:30, a couple of years ago I contacted Garmin for repair parts for my failing plastic buttons. They told me tough luck and buy a new computer. I bought a new back cover that contains the buttons for my Garmin 1000 from Ali express and it is spot on factory. The only thing missing was the serial #, yes it's that good.
