Nice! I like the dosing tip I will definitely be trying that out. Also, I have found the labels on Sierra Nevada bottles are the EASIEST to remove, especially with the PBW. Makes sense that Sierra Nevada is looking out for home brewers as he started in his garage too 😂

I love having a spigot on my fermenters! Some people worry that it can increase risk of infection, but I haven't had an issue after being careful with cleaning and sanitizing and it's so worth ditching my auto siphon!

I always felt like the autosiphon was so much work. Happy to never have to use one if I can!

I shorten my mash time by taking mash gravity readings at around the 30 minute mark. Once the gravity is stable, I mash out and sparge.

Iodine is a great trick too. Take a pinch of malt before you mash in and drop a few drops of iodine on it. The iodine will turn black. When you think you're ready to mash off, grab a sample of malt from your mash tun. Drop some iodine on it. If the iodine changes color at all, that means you should continue circulation for a bit longer. Test every 5 minutes until the iodine doesn't change color, and you're ready to mash off!

The biggest hacks that I have made to considerably improve my brewing were learned from Genus Brewing: 1. Temperature control and a controlled fermentation, 2. Stainless Steel fermenter, sterilized with heat (and not opening the ball valves because they infected my brew), 3. Huge starters, 4. Oxigenating the wort well.

Awesome video! +1 to the sanitizer spray bottle - I can't recommend this enough! I don't agree with the spigot tip, tho - I'm a huge supporter of a racking cane. Not saying you're wrong - if you prefer a spigot, and it works for you, I'm in no position to say otherwise. But, just my opinion, I prefer a racking cane.

I hear ya! To each their own and whatever works! I just get nervous about oxidation so I’ll do anything I can do to minimize it. Cheers!

An easy hack to bring your refrigeratored dry yeast packet to room temperature prior to pitching - stick it down your pants - then spray it with sanitiser 😉.

Saccharification usually occurs within 20 minutes in a thin mash. Saccharification time is listed on most malt spec sheets. At rest temperatures above 150F begin testing for starch at 20 minutes with Iodine. No starch, move on, as nothing more will occur.

Any tips for using a keggle to mash larger batches?? Been using 2 10G igloos and batch sparging but need to figure out how to use an unused keggle to simplify and shorten my 10G brew day (8% abv beers only). I’m 2 cheap to go electric because I only do 10 and20G batches.

I do not have a ton of experience with keggles so I recommend checking out @Homebrew4Life. I know CH has done some keggle builds and probably has more information on that than me! But I feel ya about electric being too much $$
