English as a second language, I don't need to be very fluent. I onle want to speak English good enough that people understand what I say without having to ask me to repeat all the time.

Dear Teacher 🙋Is there a dictionary of idiomatic expressions?
@bbclearningenglish
@bbclearningenglish 9 ай бұрын
You can buy a dictionary of idioms - or find lists online. But there are so many! The best way is to pay attention to idioms that you hear in everyday English or on TV and concentrate on the ones that are most useful to you :)

Hi, what are the swah sound?
@bbclearningenglish
@bbclearningenglish Жыл бұрын
The schwa sound is the most common sound in English - it is the unstressed vowel sound in many words - for example in British English (the stressed syllable is in CAPITAL letters - the other syllables are in lower case) TEACHer - DOCTor - aMERIca - BOTTle - aROUND - aDRESS - aCEPPT - CANdle - OXygen - UNderSTAND - Hope that helps

The schwa more makes it evident that you have spent time in far sough England than fluent. If that is your aim, fair enough.
