If you look in the corner in the upper right from the spread about Armed Gigan, it says that it was part of a series called Godzilla G1 Grand Prix. This was round 5. If you search for it, you can find an image that seems to be related (though strangely the related image calls the series Godzilla Kaiju Grand Prix), and in that image, which was round 1, Godzilla is fighting Mechagodzilla. That image is just toys, though. You can see it if you search ゴジラ怪獣グランプリ Apparently there is some kind of narrative. Under the Round 5 text on the Armed Gigan image, it gives he origins of Armed Gigan. Apparently in the previous fight, Godzilla was fighting Powered Up King Ghidorah. You can get a glimpse of that fight in the lower right hand corner. Anyway, PU KG blasted Godzilla with an electric attack, and that attack somehow remodeled and powered up Gigan to create Armed Gigan, which was the beginning of a counter attack. (I’m just mostly translating directly from the comment). There is also a little blurb below that seems to indicate that Armed Gigan was designed by someone from Tokyo named I-love-Gigan Touga, and they then made a figure based on his design (maybe it was a contest?). The magazine identifies the designer as ガイガンダイスキトウガくん, and the art in he little box seems to be from a little kid. Looking more closely, if this Armed Gigantic fight is related to the other image I found with Mechagodzilla, it seems that these were meant to sell toys… in the Armed Gigan spread they even have prices listed for some of the Godzilla toys at the bottom

So... Why hasn't that Mecha-Ghidorah story ever been a thing in the movies? Uniting all the alien factions from the Showa movies is SUCH AN INGENIOUS IDEA. It would be a great tribute to the classic era of Godzilla. And of course, I'm gonna miss this series. Best of luck to our favorite Clickbait!

I like the ending of "If you didn't like it, I really don't need to know." haha. It was a good run for a series. I enjoyed it. A lot of good jokes and information along the way. It certainly did brighten my day to check out a new episode when they debut. Good stuff to both of ya :)

@@889654 I was wondering the same. What's interesting to think about was how obscure that piece of art was (especially in pre-internet America) vs. how well-versed the folks at Trendmasters actually were, and I'm not sure which is more likely: that the TM Power-ups were inspired by this highly obscure one-off art, or that by complete coincidence, TM arrived at the same concept and a similar design completely independently. Very curious.

Yeah, this was really fun. Gonna miss this series, but I'll always look forward to more MIB content, regardless of the format. Also, I'm pretty sure that Gigan from Godzilla Wars was called Mark 2 and not MK11, but now I can't help but imagine Gigan in Mortal Kombat, so I see this as an absolute win!

This was a great series, MIB. I always kinda figured that you mostly made it out of frustration/as a joke poking fun at the ridiculously skewed EweTube algorithm, but every episode of this show was *brilliantly* well researched and profoundly informative. There is a treasure trove of hyper-obscure Godzilla knowledge I would have never heard about were it not for your work, and for that I thank you! Looking forward to whatever you cook up next!

Small thing about that Mecha King Ghidorah design is that it was designed by legendary mech designee, Kunio Okawara, who was responsible for the mech designs in Mobile suit gundam, armored trooper votoms, fang of the sun dougram, and many others.

I do have something, at least a series of names, although I'll fully admit that copying the katakana/kanji and translating it isn't the best, so make of it as you may. ライトニングゴーグル - Lightning Goggles (the visor) ヒートニードル - Heat Needle (chest spikes; either emit high temp. or possible heat rays) ブラッディ・ダブルトリガー - Bloody Double Trigger フルブラデッド・カッター - Full Blooded Cutter (approx. translation; could also be "Bloodet") ニープロテクター - Knee Protector 超合金プロテクター - Super Alloy Protector (approx. translation) ツインバルカンキャノン - Twin Vulcan / Balkan Cannon (approx. translation) 電塾スライサー (?) - Denjuku Slicer (possibly mistranslated, can't convert text properly) I'm sure there has to be a bigger nerd than me to figure this out. Mecha Ghidorah sounds badass and should have been a Godzilla foe on films and a King Ghidorah Biollante hybrid that's cool a Sea Baragon he must be a hybrid from Maguma and the Godzilla that looks like the Mr Stay Puff Marshmallow Man what and the Godzilla that looks like a tadpole WTF he should have been Shin Godzilla's 1st form

I wonder what's Fusion of Millennium Godzilla would look like (as Heisei doesn't change that much except first 2 movies and Reiwa era isn't ended yet) 2.
