It was such a pleasure spending time with you guys! Thank you for the shout out on the electrical system. But let's give credit where credit is due. Dave drew up the diagram, ordered the right parts (we had everything needed, no trip to town), Dave did assembly and installation. Dave's the man! I did very little and that's what I wanted. You guys are the best!! Happy tails!

Dave and Carrie, Content creator idea here. Why don't you make a video series telling stories about the wonderful and rich experiences that you have had on the road in the laundromat and meeting people? I'd be interested in learning more of the fruits of your lifestyle. But you two have a way of making the mundane very interesting. It is because of your genuineness and authenticity that makes the mundane things interesting. Mine and Carols next trip is next weekend in Debary, Florida to get away from things for a spell. We are still just weekend warriors for the time. Florida has wonderful campfire weather this time of year.

What a great video! Lots of good info backed by 5 years of experience. I love how down to earth you two are and I completely agree with you about meeting people. People are definitely the most enjoyable and memorable and valuable part of travel. I love my 2024 calendar too. Beautiful way to start the new year. Thanks Carrie and Dave.

So 🤔 I would have to take the opposite opinion on using a power station to power your van or RV. I am 65 and retired, and for the last two years I have been living full-time in northern Florida, in a vintage 1994 widebody class B camper van. I have done considerable repairs and remodeling. I use a 2000watt Bluetti Power Station to power my entire van. It has a 12V, 25 amp output, which I have wired directly to my 12 V fuse panel and I can plug my shore power cord into the power station for AC power. I have 300 W of solar on the roof and I have a small generator that I run on propane on a cargo rack and I can recharge my power station from 0 to 100% in two hours. The power station has been on continuously for 1 1/2 years and has operated flawlessly. My refrigerator is an AC powered dorm size refrigerator, and I run a small 12 V freezer, every day I use my AC coffee maker. I run my microwave once or twice a day, my ceiling fan, furnace ,lights, recharge my phone and usually have the TV on for a while. when I am Boondocking in the national forest in northern Florida, you get no solar input and with my Bluetti Power Station, I can go for 24 hours until I would need to run my generator and recharge the power station. I love how easy it is to use and how easy the display is to understand, and this Power Station uses 1/3 of the space at a third of the weight of a traditional battery system. So the bottom line is this - which ever type of system you use - if it works for your needs and you are happy with it then it is a good system👍😃 PS - Y’all are my favorite, KZfaq channel. I love the way you travel and camp and the things you show and the information you share 👍

You both were so instrumental in my van build and tips in van life. As a senior woman I have enjoyed two amazing years traveling around the US. Life has blessed me with a new relationship and I’m settling into a sticks and bricks for this new chapter. While lots of traveling is in the future, I’m going to be selling my Promaster. The bed frame, Webasto heater and other ideas were all implemented thanks to you both. I continue to enjoy your videos and wish you a lifetime of blessings.

Many thanks for all your effort and work throughout these years bringing us along 💟 We are self-built van lifers who believe, as you do, that with thoughtful management there is no need to clutter your space with a shower or permanent toilet/bathroom. That decision alone contributed to making adventurous van life more pleasurable. We hope to meet you out there at some point! Safe journeys, awesome sojourns to you and Doodle.

in 2019 i started full time travel in a Class A. I and a friend installed 1000 watts of solar. So in Oct 2022 i put all on hold as i went to Thailand to marry my sweetheart from Indonesia. I have been in Indonesia for 11 months waiting with my wife for her u.S. visa so she can come back to the U.S. with me. We have been traveling around Indonesia on a scooter seeing the beautiful country and culture . We cant wait to get back to the U.s. to travel in my motorhome and i can show my wife what the U.S. is like. We watch your channel every week and get excited Saturday night because thats the time here in Indonesia we get to see your KZfaq videos. We hope when we come back to the U.S. and travel that our paths will cross. God Bless you and keep you safe.🙂🙃😄

My wife and I are retired and live full time in a 21foot 3500 Promaster. Currently in Panama we had to have bushings bearings brakes and rotors replaced renovating front and rear. I’m Not handy but I’ve learned how to find Promaster parts in countries where Promasters don’t exist. I think of you every time something goes wrong and I try to channel you and stay calm when I’m out of my depth. When we get back from Argentina I’m going to pay you back for your online presence and take you boondocking in Mexico. I can’t fix a webasto but I can speak Spanish. Oh and we don’t have a heater because we like the tropics but I agree with everything else. Cheers Michael Boquete.

I agree with most of your ideas, except the shower. We used a 1 gal weed sprayer. We have a Propane instant water heater. But it used a lot of water and the temperature would vary. The solution was heat the water put it in the sprayer, add cold water to get the right temp and your set. I wouldn't get the instant heater again, just heat the water in the tea pot on the stove. Cheep easy and convenient. We found a shower every 2 maybe 3 days works. The 1 gal is perfect for the 2 of us with some leftover. Really enjoy your videos.

Hi guys, thanks for the video. We were on the road for 2 years before family obligations brought that to an end. We now are limited to a few 3 week getaway’s per year. You are correct about meeting people is the most memorable part of travel. I am a bit of a “chatty Cathy” and I am known to take a walk around the campground and return to my wife a couple hours later with stories of all the people I met. Hope to meet you sometime

I enjoyed your video. We get to travel in our hightop Ford E250 everyyear for either several weeks at a time or occasionally 2 or 3 months. I completely agree on your choice of tires. Our van is rear wheel drive. We have the same tires as you have on both the front and rear, and we love them. Snow, sand, rocks, gravel, or Interstate - they are awesome. We are minimalists when it comes to power. We us a Rockpals 500W and typically charge it every 4 to 5 days. We use it for a laptop and to charge phones, kindles, and USB powered lanterns and fans. It works great for us. Some people the solar power route isn't necessary. I agree with you guys about, the people that we meet are just as memorable as the destinations that we have gone to. I enjoy your channel very much. Keep up the wonderful videos.

Great video. We've been your fans from the start and have picked up many tips from you. Two points: the University of Google can be invaluable for understanding and planning a solar set up. Dave's use of a board as a space saver was incorporated into ours! Laundromats truly are interesting places and just like many aspects of RV life, they level the societal playing field. One question, since we pull small trailer with a 4x4 F150, do you think traction boards are still necessary? We've waffled on this for a long time. Keep having fun, I really hope our paths cross one day😊

Loved this “spot on” episode! We are “most timers” (on the road about 9 months of the year traveling throughout USA and Canada). We love to and do boondock a great deal. Our rig size won’t allow us to get to many of the places that you do, but we do what we can. We love that you finish episodes with “what you need to know”. I wholly agree that it is the folks that you meet along the way that “completes” the journey. We’ve met so many wonderful people on the road over the past 8 years. Would love to come across you two sometime to swap road stories. Safe travels.

Thank you guys for sharing your experiences and learning curve with us. We are in our early 70's and worked most of our lives. We are finally getting out for a few months at a time now. Like you said, we wished we would have enjoyed life more when we were earlier. However, better late then never. We are headed to quartzsite shortly for the truck camper rally then off to explore the west for a few months and with luck headed to Alaska. We would love to run into you on the road sometime. It would be fantastic to hear more of your travel stories. Stay safe and enjoy yourselves....

I think I enjoy this type of video more than the traveling ones. Good advice, and you’re right about shower installs being controversial because I’m one who would hate not having one in our van. Ours is in our hallway with the shower pan recessed in the floor so it doesn’t take up any room. And “navy” showers use very little water. Good to hear your opinion on traction boards because we bought some but haven’t needed them (yet) and were wondering if we made a mistake. I’m excited about your Alaska trip! We did it last year and loved it. We really liked the long hours of daylight because we didn’t need to cover our windows at night. But bug screens for sure! Tip: the highlight of our trip was the little ghost town Hyder, AK, seeing the bears there and the spectacular Salmon Glacier. 20 bumpy miles driving up to the glacier, (where you can park overnight) and WOW! Except- if it’s cloudy, don’t bother. You’ll end up in fog and won’t be able to see it. And do visit McCarthy and the old Kennicott mine. The road getting there wasn’t that bad.

Always love your channel! It was great to meet you two and Roodle in Florida at the Tiny House event last year. Great tips! When it comes to power, there have been some great advances, even in the past year, when it comes to products like BueEtti and Jackery. Bowiethebeachhouse started with mostly Victron and a single 12v 100aH Battleborn. The Battleborn was upgraded to two LiTime 300 aH. The current revision is to rip out nearly everything to replace it with an Ecoflow Delta 2 Max, while using one of the LiTime 300aH to charge the Ecoflow when needed. Less wiring, and bluetooth control and monitoring of the EcoFlow. The Victon B2B will still charge the EcoFlow. If you come back to Maine, you always have a place to stay near Freeport! It would be great to see you again!

I am starting my fourth year of adventures and freedom that our lifestyle brings. I had a home in Dallas. I always disliked my home location. I was also was married, but she died nine days after our wedding. I was in a dark mood for too long. Thankfully, my granddaughter pulled me out of my grief. I knew life was too short to keep living as I was. So I retired and made a lot of money selling my house. Now I have an F250 with a truck camper on it. I also travel with my old poodle Buster. We have been coast to coast and border to border. And a bunch of places in between. Unlike you guys, I avoid people for the most part. But do enjoy the company I get. I don't do campgrounds or RV parks. But if the campgrounds are empty and cheap. I will stay there. I avoid places like Quartzsite. Too many people. With more people, there are more chances of running across rude people. I wish you two and Roodle a safe and happy adventure. Hopefully, our paths will cross someday soon. Peace David and Buster.

That's a great anniversary to celebrate! I really enjoy your videos; you're both so warm and just nice - comfortable to be around. Roodle is so cute too! Those were some great tips you shared and I'm going to be sure to save them for when I finally get to hit the road (hopefully mid-year 2024). My Brother is a master electrician so he will be my go-to "expert" for all electric power in my RV, but he did recommend to me that a back-up Bluetti and couple of solar panels would be good insurance for boon docking. If for whatever reason your electrical system fails, then there's no juice and that could be bad. Hope you're doing well wherever you are. Safe travels, be well and thanks for sharing!

I can't say enough about how much we love your videos. They're professional yet we feel like we're right there talking to you. We are 65 and 68-year-old retirees with a 20' travel trailer. We're wanting to head out to Colorado and made boondock but can't find the nerve just yet. We've boondocked twice on top of the mountain in twin Lakes Colorado and loved it!! But finding the nerve to head out to Southern Colorado with no reservations is scary. As Carrie would say "I think I'm gonna do it!!" 🤣🤣🫣

we're looking to follow the weather in May...........we would love to camp around Silverton, BUT I am scared to death to drive with the trailer on the Million Dollar Highway. So I'm thinking somewherer east of there? We 're coming from St. Louis - so we're not too picky on a specific area. We just love the type of areas you two camp in. I'm ready for peace and nature after working retail for 23+ years. THANK YOU@@oneadVANtureatatime

Congrats on 5 years. You guys are such an inspiration. We're so glad you guys figured out what was really important to you in life. You showed us it was possible too. Even Opal has been too heavy for some lifts at oil change places, so that is a really excellent point you guys made there. Awesome points all around, actually. You guys rock! #teamnoshowers #tetrismastersunite 😅

Meeting people on the road is the best thing about travel. Kept in touch with so many people I've met over my years of solo travel. I love the destination, the travel, but people are my number one joy!

That was great!!! Greg and I agree with all these tips. We have many of these same “rules” in our van. Don’t know if you’ve ever been to the Quartzsite Laundromat. I think you guys would like it. Plus they have great showers there as well which is an added bonus.

Totally agree about no shower. I have a outdoor one (with a 12v water heater) used it maybe 1-2x? I would love to hear your comparison of the Wave and the Webasto. I just installed the Wave 3.

That’s some good advice. I’m only running 200ah of lithium batteries and they are old and tired at that. I was surprised how long they would last. I’m upgrading before we leave. I see you had a picture with The VANgelicos, I liked their climbing videos. They seem really cool to hang out with 👍🏼
