In this video we're finishing up the joinery on the McCurley table. You'll see out process for making draw bore mortise and tenon joints. Next, I've got to repair my sawhorses because of a poorly made mortise and tenon joint. But I still stand behind the statement "these are the best sawhorses period"! Finally, I'm introducing the next big project build.

6 or so years ago I built the Paul Sellers sawhorses with your old video as a guide. They're still working well.

I like to make the mortise by hand, then make it wedge-shaped by adding say 1/8" to the top and bottom. Then make wedges that are at least 1/8" wide at their widest. When I assemble everything, the tenon plus wedges makes a dovetail shaped tenon. The risk is the wedges start a split in the tenon which carries through the joint. Drilling a small hole at the base of the slot is supposed to stop the split early.

Try binge watching Guys Woodshop. He's been ill and stopped doing a lot but he has some videos in the can that touch on all that you're doing for the conference table. The man KNOWS veneering and inlaid. He built the same kinds of vacuum systems etc.

I love sawhorses, and I think simplicity is better. Simple sawhorses are so much more utilitarian than a convoluted assembly type table set up.

I generally see the wedges being driven towards the outer edges of the tenon, that way you can get a larger wedge angle.

Andy, Great video, my friend! I noticed in the segment on sawhorse repairing, that you were tapping with your fingers to adjust your bandsaw fence's position. What I've found to be even more precise is to use a small hammer. Just an idea for you to use when adjusting any sort of fence on any machine. Try it and you'll agree that it's "The Best Fence Adjusting Method Period". (Sorry, I just couldn't resist using your line). And of course, good luck with the conference table build. It sounds as though it'll be very interesting.

When I read the video title and started watching and saw the legs for the table I thought "Man, they are some seriously expensive sawhorse legs, they must cost a fortune" 🤣

I think they look great although my only suggestion would be a wee bit more mass to the feet and some diagonal bracing. There is a lot to be said for lightweeight flexibility though so more power to you.

I have watched your work for some time now and based on what I have seen you do, if you say those are the best sawhorses period, then dammit, they are the best sawhorses. END OF STORY!!!
