A whole bunch of characters told Captain America multiple times, in multiple eras that the end of the multiverse was 100% going to happen if no one did anything. That he should either work with Tony, who's actually taking action to stop the incursions, or back off, and Captain America's reply is just, "freedom, shield, and punching bad guys."

Everyone's solution in everyones reality goes wrong anyways. Their lesson to Cap was that whether he sided with them or not, that the end was an inevitability and that he was basically just trying to change what was already set in stone outside of his understanding. And so Cap's logic is simply. "Well if the end is inevitable, I'm going to arrest the Illuminati, who aren't aware that the end is inevitable and are killing worlds because its the only thing that seems to have any chance of saving reality. Cruel Fate

First time commenting on this guy's awesome videos. And I hear my boy Rob's issue with Cap...but where he sees the problem with him, I see the reason he's my favorite hero. I'm glad the success of the MCU introduced him to so many other people. Captain doesn't weigh lives. He won't trade himself in or sell himself out *for anybody or anything.* In Nolan's Dark Knight, the Joker pulls that bomb/boat scenario. The 'thinkers?' The 'smart people?' Pushing that button. Not Cap. If that means we all go, we all go. But in life, no one makes it out alive anyway. We go, but we keep our souls. And in the end, how you go is important. There's a dignity in that. It's the best of us. That's my Cap'n, dammit.
@kelvinphillips7140
@kelvinphillips7140 4 жыл бұрын
My problem has been with people calling Captain America stupid or unable to see the big picture. He may not be able to build advance battle armor or devices that take advantage of quantum physics, but he is still pretty smart. The thing he is against is the notion that you can sacrifice untold numbers to protect your own group and still be a person who could be trusted or who cares about life. After all, if you take that many lives, where does it end?
@Koooo4
@Koooo4 4 жыл бұрын
There's always a choice and there's always a sacrifice. Cap is still sacrificing people, he just want to pretend his sacrifices are the morally correct ones. In the trolley problem Cap would choose to do nothing and kill the 5 people. Iron Man would pull the lever and kill 1 person.
@joebrown6778
@joebrown6778 4 жыл бұрын
@@kelvinphillips7140 EXACTLY. Because life is going to end at some point, it's only a matter of when. And until then we're supposed to what...make sure it ain't us because we're the only thing that matters? Thank God for Cap lol somebody has to be the one to speak the gospel (not really but you know what i mean)
@joebrown6778
@joebrown6778 4 жыл бұрын
@@Koooo4 That's certainly a valid view. But there's always another train. And another. And there won't always be an Iron Man at the lever who gets to 'wrestle' with his choice. Maybe it's someone else who takes his/her cues from Iron Man's example... but with less guilt and hesitation. How many would that person be willing to mow down for the sake of the majority? Let me ask you this. What's the difference between what the Iron Man is doing here and what Thanos did during the MCU Infinity War? Both were committed to ensure life lived on, both were willing to trade many lives to ensure that it did...one difference I can see is that Thanos did it indiscriminately; he didn't decide.
@joebrown6778
@joebrown6778 4 жыл бұрын
@rina oxex The point was no one on the boat believed they would live if they didn't push the button to blow up the other guys. In that context, the point stands. The smartest minds believe their world will die if they don't push the button, too. They're pushing the button. If you want to defend the morality of committing mass genocide to try and save yourself, go right ahead. I'd be curious to hear you argue how a group of unelected, unaccountable, highly secret super beings can decide amongst the handful of themselves who gets to live and who gets to die by the billions.

Balloony Sinep Except Cap WAS right. The storyline even proves it. Cap wasn’t, at any point, advocating inaction. You are just assuming what would happen. He just knew that what the Illuminati were doing was the wrong way. Doom proved Cap right. There was another way. If the Illuminati hadn’t gone Genocide route so quickly, they may have found it too. The storyline literally shows that everything the Illuminati did, turning themselves into genocidal monsters and destroying other worlds, was for nothing.

I believe Captain wagered the thought of, “If it takes billions of lives and another cycle of suffering to save one reality, is it worth it?” The multi-verse will die one day and regardless of the power they will acquire, the prophecy will be fulfilled. Captain America is wise, not intelligent. Knowing what 1+1 is, isn’t more valuable then asking “how does this impact the people around me?” Stark and the other characters believed that the sacrifice was worth the outcome, but Captain understood that no reality deserved to be placed in torment. 23:03 is where he expresses this

I completely disagree with you on the analysis about Captain America. It is not about rationality and intelligence. It is about a high moral standard. Many brilliant scientists have done, and do, horrible things because they just focus on the intellectual pleasure of discovering, creating or destroying something. Captain America embodies the high moral values that represent the best of humanity. I side with him without a doubt.

You need a balance.Sometimes morality can infringe on the most rational solution to an issue, as how the pursuit of knowledge and rationality can infringe the execution of more moral alternatives.

The universe is dying and there is no stopping to it, they are doing what they have to in order to survive, Illuminati haven't destroyed a planet with any life yet, and even when it comes down to it, only Namor was able to do it, horrified, the others just wait for the end. The problem with Captain is he thinks the Illuminati will do anything to survive, but he forgets they are good people at their core too, except for Namor, he is an asshole.

Random question. Why didn't they just make the earth intangible so that other earth's just phase through each other instead of crashing?
@Galavantworks
@Galavantworks 4 жыл бұрын
It’s not really a simple as just two Earths colliding into each other; its a collapse of two whole realities.
@dragonleo2009
@dragonleo2009 4 жыл бұрын
@@Galavantworks well I understand that but it was stated a few times that "the universes are collapsing onto each other. As long as 1 of the 2 earth's is destroyed both universes will be spared." So by that logic why didn't they just make one of the earth's intangible so that the new earth that appears passes through without either earth being destroyed?
@Galavantworks
@Galavantworks 4 жыл бұрын
dragonleo 2009 Because it isn’t just an issue of the planets simply colliding; it’s basically one universe phasing into another universes place. Even if they would make their earth intangible an entire reality is still crashing upon another. Making the earth intangible doesn’t simply phase the realities through each other it would basically sit in place of each other until another incursion happened. If phasing the planet would’ve solved the issue; then they would’ve phased in the rogue planet in earth’s place back from when they’ve captured back during the Rogue planet storyline.

Everytime ppl say "rob is cynical for not agreeing with Capt America" the whole point of the story is to show that cap is wrong just like everyone else. Cap thinks that off of good will and never give up attitude that he can save an unsaveable world. Tony and the illuminati unlike him try everything under the sun both good and evil to save the world and come to realization that there's no winning, only surviving. Cap literally spends all of time runs out chasing them down in a self righteous war alongside shield for no reason at all except his own satisfaction
@NP-zv4bf
@NP-zv4bf 4 жыл бұрын
Facts, that’s why I say that cap should have never joined the Illuminati in the first place, they probably had a lot of plans on how to stop the incursions, but after what happened to the infinity gauntlet it basically went from a hundred to basically 0 ways to save both colliding earths, captain America was really slowing them down by saying they can’t give up, when there is really no other way of surviving and no room for good morality when we’re talking abt a problem as big as this, and now he’s basically chasing down the Illuminati for no good reason knowing that there are more important things he should be worried abt such as THE FRICKIN COLLAPSE OF THE MULTIVERSE
