We start today's #facts about #chile always with a bit of #history and #geography because they are an important part of #science and we want to emphasize knowledge. Today, the country is relatively rich for that part of South America and can boast of good #financial results and good trade relations with the surrounding nations and #europe in general. The distance between its northernmost and southernmost points is over 4300km, and between its easternmost and westernmost points only 170km. The third longest border in the world is between Chile and Argentina - over 5300 km. Chile is home to the driest non-polar place on the planet - the Atacama Desert. Located at 2400 m above sea level. it has a territory almost as large as that of Bulgaria - 104,000 sq. km. Chile is one of the countries with many active volcanoes - nearly 90. One of them is Ojos del Salado, which rises as high as 6,893m. It is the highest active volcano in the world and the second highest peak in South America after Aconcagua in Argentina. Chileans are the nation that consumes the largest amount of bread in all of Latin America. Otherwise, their national dish is Cazuela, a soup with meat, vegetables and corn on the cob. They eat it by first drinking the broth, then with a fork and eating the rest at night. In general, #food in Chile is very interesting and diverse.
