Though both ships are great, I just feel like Louis and Clem fit together so much better. He is the ray of joy and sunlight that she hasn’t been able to see for a long time and she is the pillar of strength he needs to balance on from time to time. Before Clem came around I feel like Louis may have given up on the idea of being anything other than Marlon’s side kick who cracks jokes, Clem realized quickly he was more than that. Louis realized how kind yet strong Clementine was. And no matter what happens in the routes you take Louis does not give up on Clem no matter what and that says so much about what kind of person he is and how much he loves her.

I feel like Louis is better for Clem in a couple relationship and Vi is more of the best friend. Vi has more baggage than Louis and wouldn't be able to really support her and AJ on an emotional family type level, while Louis gets over things quickly (like Marlon's death) and the blissful attitude and jokes will help Clem cope more with her past whenever she needs it. Etc etc, I love both Louis and Vi, but Louis the boyfriend and Vi is the best friend.

I posted this on a Clem and Louis love pathway video on youtube and thought I will share this here. I got into watching Cinema Therapy videos this past week on a film director and a family therapist giving their professional opinions and such as they watch films and review them and give commentary on it. One of them they reviewed was ranking Disney animated movie romantic relationships and had some very interesting tidbits to learn from. And OMG after watching it, Clem and Louis are like Fix-it Felix and Calhoun from Wreck-it Ralph. Anyways here is what I took away from watching that video and relate it here and took a deep dive into analyzing Clem and Louis's romantic relationship based on that video and what the therapist pointed out. And there is in-gameplay evidence that supports their relationship better than Vi and Clem's romance. So As I am reviewing it, I have noticed a few things as the therapist is explaining what makes a love relationship stand the test of time. How two people influence each other and help one another grow to become better versions of themselves. And then I relate it back to here. Why do I feel a stronger love connection with Clem's romance with Louis more than I do with her romance with Violet? Because of how both Clem and Louis balance each other out and how well they both complement one another and how they both in some ways influence each other to want to be better. She is a bit salty with what she has been through and he is very sweet in nature. They kind of mimic a bit of Simba and Nala's relationship in the Lion King (1994) or Fix-It Felix and Calhoun's relationship in Wreck-It Ralph. And there is in gameplay evidence of this how both Clementine and Louis have influences on each other. At the beginning of the game, we first are introduced to Louis as a carefree guy who doesn't look to the future or doesn't plan for the future and just focuses on the here and now. Sort of like Simba with Hakuna Matata days before snapping back to reality of taking up responsibility. . And how he says to Clem if you choose to goof around with him "There is only one moment one guarantee and it is this moment. Might as well enjoy it." (Clem takes that to heart later on in the game). A lot of people don't fully understand this of Louis's character when he voted Clem and AJ out at the beginning of episode 2, but he pretty much acted how Simba acted in the lion king when Nala came back to try to convince Simba to take his place as king. Simba of course shot back and got defensive at Nala, and stormed off and needed time alone to sort things out to get some perspective on what she is saying. On the contrary with Louis, when Marlon died, Louis blamed Clem and AJ, for the hurt and grief that Aj caused to him by killing Marlon in cold blood. Louis had to go through a metamorphosis in his character growth and deal with that loss and pain, work through his problems to validate his own emotions before he can come back and forgive Clem and AJ, and ultimately forgive himself for his direct cause to Aj getting shot and injuring him by his choice of sending him and Clem away from Ericson. One of the great takeaways from the video analysts of the Disney couple romance is this quote, "Accepting Influence: acknowledging that your partner has a valid point of view. You welcome it, are willing to be influenced, and even have your perspective be changed by it." When Louis comes to an understanding of why AJ shot his best friend, he begins to see from Clem's point of view and is willing to be influenced by it like what the quote above says, and starts to make a change because Clem influences him to want to change and learn how to be a protector and fight back. Louis had to work through it on his own to come to that realization. This again applies when AJ shoots Tenn and Louis was mad a bit but one of the quotes he gives to AJ is this, "You saw something I didn't. Clem told me you saved my life, well that is exactly what you did, and how can I stay mad at someone who did just that." which is another lesson Louis learns from when getting close to Clem and AJ. Clem also showed faith in Louis which helped him grow as a character and in the final episode, he is no longer a weak lazy character but actually is inspired by Clem to be her protector and AJ's protector, and contribute to the group more. He even started to dream and look forward to the future with her and AJ and drop his "living in the moment" for them. And she also taught Louis to stand up and defend what he treasures dear in his life, for instance, her and AJ. Louis is the only Ericson kid besides Marlon, who unintentionally kills an innocent person. His reaction to his first kill is a crucial moment in Clem and Louis's relationship. Clem knew it was Louis's first kill, so instead of belittling the situation she is very sympathetic toward him and lets him share how he feels and validates his feelings saying it will get easier, Louis will respond with this "I know it is f*cked up but I know it will. I'm just glad I have it in me at all. Having a home means to defend it." If you choose the dialogue of you did great, Clem will say this to him, "You have a tendency to beat yourself up, Louis. But don't do it now, because you did great back there." She is giving him support and is proud of Louis for taking action and fighting for her and AJ. And Clem is not the only influencer in their relationship. Louis actually inspires and influences Clem as well. He teaches her that even in the sh*t world they live in, it is okay to have fun every now and then and live life and enjoy it, and not be serious all the time. If you pay close attention to Clem's mannerisms, she actually mimics a bit of Louis's behavior throughout each episode of the final season, because he inspired her to be different. You do this when you start to fall in love with someone subconsciously. Both people who have an attraction toward each other, start to copy their love partner's behaviors and mannerisms without even realizing it. For instance, when Louis burbs, you can make it so Clem will follow suit, when Louis says this when distracting the walkers to get the food in the train station, "If I die I will make sure 'walker' Louis eats both of you first." And if you choose to appeal to Louis during the Marlon Confrontation, one of Clem's dialogue options is this, "Well you better bury me deep, because I will come after you first." She even copies his body poses when looking at Abel, and says this during the party scene, "If we are going to die, we should have some fun first." Linking back to Louis's saying after playing pina with the walker. She even throws in if you choose to romance him, "I like-like you" to Louis's card game question of "anyone here you like-like" and throws his "And that is how you school a walker" phrase back at him when he saves her from a walker trying to get her and AJ after the boat blows up. And the sweet thing is when you choose to flirt with him back in episode 1, Clem even does a throwback line to Louis when he says "right behind me." she replies with "yup just the like the ninja I am." and he goes the "the ninjas we are." before he kisses her. And in the cinema therapy video, they talk about Wreck-it Ralph on Fix-it Felix and Calhoun's relationship and how they work together as a couple because they accept influence from each other. On the surface, Calhoun in Wreck-it Ralph is tough, no nonsense, and Leads troops into battle. And Felix seems really sweet kind of derpy, doesn't really know what he's doing, but he has an idea that is going to work or that it might work. Calhoun accepts influence from him, and Felix definitely accepts it from her all throughout the film. And Calhoun softens because of his influence, and Felix toughens up because of her influence. Hmmm, sound a bit familiar to Clem and Louis here? I wish I can say the same things were true with Violet but there is not enough in-game play evidence that links back to their romance to suggest this strong connection the way Clem and Louis have. And how Vi and Clem are too similar to one another personality-wise, that they don't really compliment each other or influence one another to want to grow or change and be inspired by the other person. Vi and Clem work well as being best gal pals than lovers. And Clem never really had a best friend that is a female ever, until she meets Violet. I'm dying my poor heart can't take it!

A few things I have noticed a big difference between the two love pathways are. Clem's actions of affections toward Louis show a bit more through both dialogue options and her actions than with her affections towards violet as a romantic partner. The way she reciprocates the flirting back with Louis, and she has different word choice options that reflect the feelings she has towards him throughout the final season of the game. Vi never gives flirting options to Clem to establish a romantic relationship with her, to even through out that she is interested in Clem as a romantic partner. The only potential flirting that goes on is in ep 2 where you make the choice of romancing Vi or Lou. Whereas at the very start of the game Louis showed an interest in liking Clem from the very start. Also in Clem's actions prove she likes Louis more. For instance, if you romance Louis and he saves you from the walker, Clem rushes to him and embraces him into an intimate hug as a sigh of relief he made out off the boat alive. Now in contrast to this romancing Vi, All Clem does with her is offered a hand out to help her out of the water. No embrace of an intimate hug or anything. Another thing is the dialogue in how Clem interacts with Louis is different too. She only says this to Louis if you romance him when he asked her why did she choose to save him and not Violet after the Raiders attacked the school, "I couldn't let them take you. You're too important to me." Clem and Vi never have this dialogue if you romance her, they just talk about Minnie, and Clem never expresses to Vi how much she means to her the way she does with Louis. Another big thing I have noticed too is the capture routes of the romance options. With the Louis route, Clem and he share an intimate moment in their relationship. Clem feels guilty that she let Louis suffer in getting his tongue ripped out and losing part of his identity. And she cries for letting that happen. Her actions change and you see her look so devasted knowing she was the cause of it. Then if you choose the option of "I should've done something to stop them." you see Louis shaking his head to her in don't blame yourself for what happened to me. With Violet, she gives Clem the could shoulder no matter what and you never have that intimate moment between Vi and Clem's romance path the way you do with Louis and Clem. There are many other reasons to list off too but that is what I have noticed. Clem and Louis are meant to be in my honest opinion a couple more than Vi and Clem. the actions speak louder than words can ever say, and the actions that Clem does to show her love affection towards Louis are a lot stronger than her love affection towards Vi.

Right in the beginning everyone knew they were gonna be together, even the ones who chose that crusty blonde (sorry i really hate vi XD). The only reason they went with her was because they thought that they were gonna check the defenses (the people who understood what THAT situation meant chose Lou), and then when they saw the choice that you can romance her, they were so shocked it was just so unexpected and in order to not make the scene boring, the dumb ones romanced her......
