Good video. I'm Ex Special Forces and used to teach survival for many years after I left. All these pointers are really good, well done. One thing to note many people will use ferns as bedding, not a good idea as they give of cyanide gas when crushed, not enough to kill you, but your get one hell of a headache

8:50 My dad's Army-issued manual says that in cold weather environments, you can melt the snow by putting it in a plastic bag and putting the bag in an inner pocket while on the move. Any body heat you might give off will melt the snow too.

As a former call of duty solider and survivalist from both fallout and S.T.A.L.K.E.R, I can say that the best thing to do in an emergence situation is to level up as much as possible and steal everything, if that doesn't help, you'll just respawn, so no big deal.

With the Birch Bark shavings, have some duck tape or gorilla tape and put the shavings on that to prevent the wind from blowing the shavings away. The tape is also flammable so you get a two for one. I like the pencil sharpener, I have that one in my fire kit as well. Take a pencil with you if you can't find any twigs to fit into the sharpener.

All my boots have one through the 550 survivor cord shoelaces on one boot as well as a piece of metal on the other boot shoelaces.I don't ever even think of them, but they will always there. 550 Survivor cord contains fire cord, thread, and monofilament fishing line along with the seven nylon strands.

As for the trash bags, you can use them to collect water even if there is no rain. If in a very dry climate. You can find a bush and tie it around it. If you add a small rock as a sinker the heat from the sun will evaporate water in the plant and it will collect inside the bag. It's only a couple oz a day but it can be the difference between life and death.

Good list and well presented, one small point, there is no actual evidence that dock leaves contain any antihistamine properties and the who stinging nettle thing is largely placebo effect rather than an actual chemical. There might be something in the sap that neutralises another part of the nettle sting cocktail, but that's not an antihistamine, so if antihistamine is needed for anything then you shouldn't use dock leaf sap for it.

Actually started writing these down. I intend to have a full personal survival guide eventually. I go on hikes often enough for it to be useful. Knowledge is power, but so much of what we learn in school seems unnecessary, so that's why it's so great to find knowledge that can clearly and greatly help me!

Excellent tips, here's one of mine. If you find yourself without access to water or the means to purify dirty water, look for birch, maple or walnut trees . These are common in much of the northern hemisphere and all will yield an edible sap when tapped, containing variable amounts of sugar, effectively a natural energy drink. Worth a google search.

A knife, or sharp rocks can gauge small bowl shapes in logs which are great to boil water in by adding heated rocks, as well as carry water. Your duct tape is a great match extender also, But I would save it for your blisters and tarp holes.

Great Video. Question. Could you demonstrate how, if you do, you would attach a knife sheath with just a belt loop to a molle system? I want to be able to put my knife and saw onto a leg panel so I'm not constantly lifting up my jacket to get to them.
