The windmill is actually for recharging batteries. Back in the days before electricity came in on a wire, they used to light their houses with batteries then recharged the batteries during the day.

I love your videos, Sorry I know I am watching them out of order, but I live in Minnesota so I really only just discovered your channel. Its like everything you point out are the same type of things I am interested in. I almost never comment on video, I usually just watch videos and like them, but you show so much cool stuff and a lot of it is different than we would have here in the states.

I've been thinking about your situation It may be time to open not a larger store, but a whole 'nuther store. An old car dealership would be perfect. Focus that store on transportation related stuff. Even use a couple of the garage bays to start a vintage parts biz, disassembling all these vintage rides you come across. Parts is where it's at, the money for parts is way better than even restored cars in most cases. That would give you a place to keep things like that inspection car you let go way to cheap and lost money on. Certain things have to be held for a while until that one right buyer comes along, auctions are not the answer for everything unless you find specialized auctions for specific things. I don't know if where you live can support such a business as a store related to petrolianna but it does work in some places. Parts can be sold via the net anywhere, and shipping is not that big of deal for rare parts. They will pay the freight and then some if they have to have that part.

That "airplane" motor and Hoover Hydraulic propeller may not have been on any kind of plane. They used to make a snow machine, basically a lightweight body on skis, powered by air like an airboat. It's from late 30's to early 40's Intended for military use but they never really went big time. More as vid progresses.

Re oil cans: What is the price difference if the can is open and empty, versys if the can is still sealed and filled with oil? Say it's a 1960s can. Is the price mainly in the rarity and the graphics and whether it's open or filled is mostly irrelevant?

@Curiosity incorporated in all honesty 85% of those cars are junk it would cost more than they are worth to fix them.though a couple of those later model cars could still be fixable if you just wanted to get it mechanically running and safe to drive. you could take one of the older cars if the frame and body were solid enough and make a rat rod out of it.that could be an interesting project though.

I just have to wonder why so many old vehicles are still around in that area. one would think with the snow and road salt and all they would all just be totally gone in no time.
@MrShene123
@MrShene123 6 жыл бұрын
Alberta & Sask don't use very much road salt.
@tootall5559
@tootall5559 6 жыл бұрын
really? you'd think they'd use many metric tons. Of course, most Americans think only of snow, ice and cold when we think of Canada. With a lot of snow and such, you'd think heavy rust would come with it, but there seems to be a lot of old stuff that's been left outside that has only surface rust. I'm sure some is quite rusted, but stuff from the teens and 20s of last century that isn't just rusted away doesn't seem right to me.
@MrShene123
@MrShene123 6 жыл бұрын
In the western provinces they use more sand & pea gravel than salt, it works better and doesn't cause rust, when I lived in Ontario cars would turn to dust in 15 years.
@tootall5559
@tootall5559 6 жыл бұрын
Hmm, well one would think the weather alone would do it, but apparently not all that fast. Some of that stuff had to have been setting outside for many decades, yet it's still there. sorta anyway. I tell ya, if a guy had a place to do the work, buying the parts only cars and parting them out and reselling parts would be the way to go. Guys that want original parts will pay the price.
