I feel like Tom every time and despite having seen this movie multiple times, it still breaks my heart. You fall head over heels in love with someone and think that he or she is the one you've been looking for only for the same person to make you realize you're wrong... It's devastating and you feel like a walking corpse everywhere you go.

She did the best thing she could do for him, by being honest. There are so many people who would never have been up front with someone they cared about, because we are so afraid that honesty hurts people. But by being up front with Tom, she helped him move on, but did it in the gentlest and most honest way that she could. Her character was written extremely well.

Her actions didn't match up with her words though. I mean, she claims she didn't want a relationship/BF right? Yet she wanted dates, initiated physical affection like handholding, opened up to Tom emotionally, and she was vulnerable with him. So, she basically wanted to use Tom for BF privileges w/o committing to him fully. If she genuinely didn't want a relationship, it should've just been about sex and being lowkey indoors, watching movies, making small talk, and hanging out. But she kept acting like a GF with him.

Very real movie about a relationship. I think my heart was broken as much as Toms when she broke up. I've felt like he has, devestated! I felt he was gonna be ok when he met Autumn.

In some day of every person's life , there are some magical relationships that still persistent in the memory even if there was no doubt it 'ill not make a big difference or a remarkable progression, but some how we simply cant forget it ... we only smile when we remember it.

Like the movie says, It's not a love story. It's a story about a couple who ultimately were wrong for each other. They loved each other dearly (one more so then the other) and so the film takes a turn. Not like most 'will they wont they?' movies, this is a film about closure and mending the broken heart. It's one of those unique movies that make a break up a story simply beautiful. Everything about this film is incredible.

I' ve just lived exactly the same thing, all was beautiful at the beginning, the world, the streets you walk in every day, there is the sun in every moment..and after, when it ends, you rest alone and remember all the moments with her...in my case it was 270 days of summer. Addio micetta :(

@Very Good Me also dude it was gaming which helped me move on. First I thought it was impossible but psychologically time heals everything. Maybe in future I'll find someone better and sensible. Till then my Asus ROG is my partner.

I usually hate romantic comedies, but this film was different and at the risk of sounding slightly pouncy, it touched me quite a bit. JGL is just so relatable as the hopeless romantic and I think every guy can admit to themselves and others, that we have all had our own Zooey Deschannel at some point in life. You never forget your first love and first heartbreak. It stays with you and this film/soundtrack just brings it all back again.

This film is a true work of art. It's crazy attention to details in it's cinematography and how the visuals represent these two character's are what i think really drives this film. So great! Indie FTW! :)

Wow, story of my life. I once befriended a girl who I began to feel emotions for but she told me he wasn't looking for a relationship told me about her past bfs, we kissed dated etc..things went bad, I got upset we reconciled and were seeing each other again then one day she begins to distance her self and all of a sudden she has a bf, very heart breaking she knew I loved her but hey that's life no such thing as fate.

It's really a great movie!! I watched this movie when I just broke up with someone who was with my for 5 years, he cheated on me... And thanks for 500 Days of Summer, I could move on and forget him... I could feel Tom's feeling in this movie. It's really hurt. Thanks God, now I found my "autumn"... :) I hope all people that believe in love will find their love and happiness...

I gave this film a chance because I love this song, watched it last night, unbelievable how great this film actually is, it is so relatable with real life, unlike all the other "Rom-Coms" This is truely a good film and everyone has had their own Zoeey DeChanel in their life, it sucks but you have to go on :D

I just realized that at the beginning of the movie, the narrator says that its not a love story, but no one expected it to actually not be a love story and we were all surprised when it ended. Its like the same as when Summer told Tom that she didn't want anything serious and he didn't believe her and it turned out that she wasn't kidding :(

I remember a bit when it first released at 2009 I was 8 yrs old and my family and I went to cinemas and we watched Avatar together, and I think I saw the cover poster of 500 days of summer movie in the cinema lobby hall, I watched this movie (alone mode) 3 days ago, imagine... I'd say this film is painful, luckily I watched at the right time. LOL.

I understand how some people can relate but summer told Tom from the beginning how she felt. which to me took many times watching it to understand. Not only the movie but life. We all fall for summers even though they look interested they usually tell us up front their intentions. Summer tells Tom she's not in love and Tom ignores all that. We tend to look past people intentions to satisfy our own. This movie is a genius piece of work. How he meets Autumn at the end is the perfect ending to what would have been another sad love movie. Instead its a "Turn of the season" Time to do it all over again.

movies like this make me reflect. Summer is like a girl in my life that was able to make me willingly open up and for once share what I was feeling and talk about my thoughts and problems. she gave me signs, hugged me, made the first moves, only to push me back and tell everybody except me that she wanted to be with someone else

One of my favorite movies... But I still relate to Tom so much more. The part from where reality/expectations starts, is just pure heartbreak. Yes, being Summer, it's possible to like someone very much but not to be in love with the guy. But then you don't sleep with them, or kiss them spontaneously: you know when someone's really in love with you, especially Tom --> don't mess with their feelings...

@@kkumarbasant1 Still his imagination. This is sign posted really early on when Tom asks Summer (in the lift) how her weekend was. She replies that "it was gooooood.......", which he interprets to mean that she slept with some guy from the gym. Even his friends tell him that's a reach. They even tell him that his relationship with Summer at this point is all in his head in any case. This tells us straight up that Tom has a febrile imagination and that the audience is to take his viewpoint with a very large piece of salt. The fact that so many don't is very telling.

Yes! I think that's the point of the movie. You may think you just found the girl / boy of your dreams but if she / he goes away, you will always find someone else. I just watched the movie yesterday and I really liked it because something similar happened to me. I just have not found my "Autumn" yet.

This is my absolute favorite movie in the "drama romance" category. If someone even asks me about that, without even thinking I say "500 Days of Summer."
