With those infrared speed guns you might find that the chuck is too reflective and hence your erratic readings. Try putting a band of black electrical tape around the circumference of the chuck and attach the reflective patch onto the black tape. 👍😀 Thank you for showing this installation. I am definitely going to add the same to my Myford Super 7. 👍😀

Thanks for that, I did in fact try that after seeing it on another videos clip on KZfaq, it didnt make any difference. I also blocked the light from the window but that never helped, I even tried putting the reflective tape on the chuck face to no avail. Thanks anyway for the comment, always appreciated. Cheers B

@@500dbd34 Oh my. I think you have definitely proved that those hand held units are indeed faulty. Your solution is so much better. I look forward to installing my own.

Nice work Brian. Pity about drilling the cover but there wasn't room to fix a bracket inside. My brother fitted the same type of unit to his Harrison lathe, a very useful addition with the VFD.

Hi Brian, Anymore bike rebuild projects in the pipeline? If so don't forget to share them, your skills should be passed on to the next generation. Regards David, age 56 so maybe I'm closer to your generation than the next one :-) Either way I've really enjoyed watching them and learnt a great deal while doing so.

Dave, I’m hoping to get another B31 soon, rigid model this time. It’s in bits with lots of parts missing, hoping to build a Fun Colorful bike this time. Complete bikes are hard to find these days and they cost a fortune. Thanks again for taking the time to comment. Cheers B

@@500dbd34 I've just finished my C12 - waiting on DVLA before I give it a proper test drive. I decided to wire wool then wet&dry the rusty bits and polish with beeswax for protection. To my eye's it looks great :-)
