50 Acres & a Cabin

Күн бұрын

Bath Walls, Moving Rocks for my pond with an ASV RT75 Track Loader. In this video I install cedar boards on the walls of our off grid cabin in the woods wet bath bathroom. Then I siphon water out of our natural swimming pond to get it ready for construction. I take delivery of a rental ASV RT75 Compact Track Loader. I use this skid steer to grade my remote gravel access road. Then I use it to transport large limestone/Sandstone rocks to the top of my hill to the pond construction site.

If you can get a working septic system in for the cabin they do make an easy to winterize type of toilet in the form of an RV toilet. They also do make ceramic RV toilets so no fear of having to sit on plastic. Might end up needing a pipe flush setup to push the waste to the tank but that would be easy to setup when you get the spring water piped to the cabin before it discharges into the pond.
@50Acres
@50Acres 2 жыл бұрын
We ordered a composting toilet around a month ago but its backordered and still has another month or so before we get it. I could also build a septic pretty easily but it seems a waste of time and resources given how often we use the cabin.

Yea there in lies the dilemma, is it better to stay on subject or expand.
@808v1
@808v1 2 жыл бұрын
@@50Acres I think the only way to expand a channel like this one and avoid alienating anyone is to maintain a rigid production schedule re the cabin videos...always have those come out on the same day/schedule and then post other videos other days (it would be wise to also adhere to a sched) - that way the potential upheaval of the existing sub base is mitigated and you can gradually build a broader audience while maintaining your existing one. The issue with this approach is the work increases and deadlines mean something re posting. Re the name of the channel you can just put a slight twist on it without wholesale change.
@50Acres
@50Acres 2 жыл бұрын

@@50Acres its def the reason your channel growth has stunted, like you mentioned to the driver dropping off the mini-ex. Me, I just enjoy your meticulous, non-pro designs etc. Its worth just leaving the sub in place for the sporadic content. Others prob feel the same way for their own reasons.

Just a suggestion, maybe paint the wood in the bath in the same color family as the tile. You've got a lot of texture going on but also a lot of color going on at the same time. Perhaps this would simplify the design a little. Painting the upper walls as you did in the bedroom is a good choice, in my opinion, and will help keep it light in the bath and will also tie into the design in the bedroom. I know you are strapped for time with winter coming on so do what you need to do and don't worry about the rest. Everything will come together in time. I'll be watching whenever you have time because it's always interesting to me. Best regards to you and Sarah!!

If evah you feel like you don’t have cabin content, the shop progress is still good watching. The joy that 🚜 gave you, is just a tad noticeable 😂😂😂. Still curious to know what will become of the white tank your neighbor got you 🧐

Thanks LW. Yea I have another shop update coming, I videoed a guy coring some huge 16 inch holes in the brick it was pretty cool. I am planning to use that white tank to collect water off the gutters and then the overflow will going into the pond.

So looking forward to watching you do the pond. I love your perfectionist work and how you add in artistic design with your build. Your cabin inside is just gorgeous... Love your videos and always look for them. It would be nice to see some videos of your other buildings and how you have redone them too. I was surprised to see how efficient and diverse you are... keep up the good work and keep up the videos, we all love them.

Great job operating the skid stir! It looks like you took to it a lot quicker than the excavator. It’s great to catch up with you I got a little worried when you hadn’t posted in a while.

when you run equipment it takes seat time, you don't have to think slow movements, instead think smooth movements of the joysticks, ease into it and out of it, thats how you avoid the jerking motions. some guys when they start will run the throttle at 1/2, but the machine is designed to run at full throttle. at the end of the day it just takes time. also stage your rocks so your not tracking back and forth to pick one up at a time, make sure they are relatively close to where you want to place them or in reach.its no different then setting up a table saw 1/2 way down a drive way and making one cut at a time to walk all the way back to the house to nail it up. hope this helps.

Those rocks come from my neighbor who quarries them. I have pulled quite a few from my property as well, but I realized it will take me forever to collect enough to do the pond so I figured why not just buy a bunch from my neighbor.

I have that same switch panel in my tractor and I found the quality of the spade connectors are terrible, I had to take them all out and squeeze them with pliers to get them to stay on the blade. If you have intermittent connection problems, that's why.
