Floette being tougher than Wailord actually does make a bit of sense when you look at it from a physics point of view. Wailord is actually less dense than air, it's basically a balloon. You wouldn't expect a balloon to be able tank much damage.

No offense, but Physics you say? You say that Wailord is less dense than air??? If it was lense dense than air it wouldn't be able to stay under water. It would just start floating. Either Physics in Pokemon don't make sense or the PokeDex entry is wrong, which isn't that rare

I have always thought that speed is how fast a Pokemon can unleash an attack, not how fast they can move. (Alakazam with its 120 base speed can basically instantly use psychic attacks, but can't move at super speed) Attack is not based just on how "strong" a pokemon is, but how damaging their attacks are. Onix is slow moving and can basically just nudge you hard, but a Bellsprout have razor sharp leaves which can cut sharper than a sword. Wailord is based on a blimp. It's insides are mostly just air so it makes sense it have low defense.

It's also why Vikavolt is so slow. It's a railgun, so it has to charge it's attacks.

Onix actually has quite good speed though so by this logic given its size it actually should have very good attack due to being something that size that can quickly unleash its attacks.

About Trapinch's base Attack stat being higher than that of its evolved form and is the same as that of its final evolved form, that may be a reference to the fact that antlion larvae are more aggressive and predatory than their adult stages.

Something I noticed that I never hear people talking about is how Poliwag and Poliwhirl have base 90 speed, out speeding several final evolutions and even Dragonite

I like how you focused on Krabby's 105 Attack, when Archen, another pre-evolution, beats out not only Krabby, but also Kommo-o, Mega Sceptile, Swampert, Lucario, Doublade, Snorlax, Scyther and Aggron, and ties with Zeraora. And then it evolved, and suddenly surpassed Buzzwole.

I always thought of speed as acceleration. In a battle most pokemon start at a stand still, receive their orders, then act. It would make more sense that "speed" is how fast they can act from a stand still, not how fast they are once they get moving.

At this point, I hope the "Speed" stat is just a "reaction speed" stat, not "how fast they can move" stat, but rather "how soon can they move" stat.

5:26 on the Eternatus 10:29 on the right Aipom's tail 15:51 on the right glitch pokemon at the bottom, you see just the top of the Masterball. Also some of these stats, holy butts. Magikarp is tied for the top 3 fastest pokemon with swift swim in the rain? That's just crazy. Also, isn't Onix also pretty fast too for a rock snake?

5:12 actually when you look at it Krabby is like a mini guillotine while others (most of them) don't rely on Atk stat too much (like Tornadus, Eternatus, Heatran), or just aren't meant for doing the main damage to the opponent (Regirock, Lugia, you know the rest)

With Wobbufett, there is 4 ways to use it's attack or special attack stat: Use Dynamax and Max Knuckle or Max Mindstorm in Gen 8, use Fightinium Z or Psychicium Z in Gen 7, use Mimic to get an attacking move, or run out of PP and struggle

Believe it or not, wobbufett’s attacking stats were relevant before gen 8 since it could learn mimic and use other Pokémon’s physical and special moves to deal damage

@@wintertheampharos4725 Uhmmm Thunder punch isn't a TM..... It can only be learned but It's not a TM :/ There's no Thunder, Firepunch and Ice punch TM move. Edit: I'm so dumb, I did my research and Thunderpunch, Icepunch and Firepunch also have TMs 🤦♀️ So apparently.. Abra can learn Thunderpunc, Firepunch and Icepunch by TM but not by Levelling up.

Another weird fact is that Nincada has double the defense of ninjask. Nincada has 90 base defense while ninjask has 45 base defense.

Flygon has the same attack stat as Trapinch. And Vibrava is actually weaker... so yeahhhhh thats why you often feel as your Vibrava is doing less damage.

Random fact: Barraskewda can have 408 speed with max EV and IV investment, and has the ability swift swim, increasing that to 816. This makes it the fastest Pokemon without any set up assuming there is overworld rain. Floatzel comes pretty close at 722.

All of these are superbly well researched. Just one thing I felt to mention. Its not wierd that duraludon has less weight. Although its classified as steel type, its is quite evidently based on the alloy duralumin which is famous for being stronger than steel but very light and hence used in aircrafts. So duraludon weighing less than other steel types is quite awesome detail actually.

For the Buneary/Lopunny thing, I think Lockstin/Gnoggin did a video on them. It’s supposed to parallel how bunnies in real life are very slow to trust and show affection and how rewarding it is when they finally do.

arbok's "height" talking about length, meanwhile groudon is just gigantic in general. its like comparing a rope to a house, they both can reach the same peak height (theoretically) but you need to stretch the rope to reach it. edit: same with milotic and every single snake like pokemon edit 2: oh he mentioned the length on falinks... ok edit 3: alomomola is based on the mola mola, which is also a giant fish. making it less surprising for it to have a huge hp lol. edit 4: for furret and dratini, theyre snake like pokemon too... same with falinks and arbok last edit: i have way too much time and i can and will use them however i want

gonna be honest, i would not expect vibrava's two tiny-ass fangs to be remotely as powerful as trapinch's hand-devouring chompers, and yet the latter's bites are only 43% stronger than the former's if there's any pokemon logic at play here, it's _that_

That makes sense, antlions are a lot more dangerous in their ant form than in their dragon fly form. Flygon is only steonger because it also becomes a dragon

Little fact: serpentine Pokémon are measured from head to tail instead of head to toes. And at nr. 33 if you have An Alpha rotom fan is bigger than normal Alpha rotom. And duraludon also has the light metal ability, which explains it's weight. But also, Duraludon is made out of aluminum, the lightest metal currently discovered.

for Arbok, pok'e mon like the snake pok'e mon and furret are measured from head to tail, not head to foot, so arbok's "height" is actually it's length

actually, due to the body shape of furret, it is measured from head to foot, meaning yes, furret is taller than a lot of people

@@aerodacsome even if it is measuring head to hind foot and not head to tail, it's still measuring furret's length, not height. Quadrupedal animals are measured from foot to shoulder for their height. for something with stumpy legs like furret, it'd be really short. Furret is long boy. not tall boy. (though if it stands on it's hind feet, it'd become a tall boy).

@@oucyan so now the question is if furret is bipedal or quadrupedal. even though the pokedex says it is quadrupedal it is seen standing mostly on its hind legs, so it's like a human (we usually stand on our hind legs, but that doesn't mean we can't walk on all fours)

The Magikarp with Swift Swim being third fastest isn't really accurately stated-- it's by no means the fastest pokemon with Swift Swim, that'd be Barraskewda w/ 136 base speed (which doubles to 272, which most likely beats everything)

Swift swim doubles the actual stat not just the base stat, so it doubles the +5, IVs and EVs, so barraskewda can be even faster.

The speed stats aren't an indicator of speed it's more like reaction time of the Pokemon in battle that determines their priorities in attacking which is why there are so many anomalies with supposedly "fast" Pokemon, like how Rhyhorn can reach probably 40-50km/h but is slow to react in a combat situation because of its intelligence and weight.

Personally, I think a way to make sense out of speed stats, is that they don't necessarely have to tie in on how fast they can move around an open field, but rather how fast they are able to react to things (AKA not move speed, but brain processing speed)
