5153 - Blue or Red?

@LeonTodd D-Mack here. At 2:27 on the timer bar when you said "Extra little bit of hair on it" gave me a much needed early morning giggle.

I owned a 5153 50W, and I lived on the blue channel. It was a great amp, and my last tube amp. Went modeling (Helix, then Fractal) and haven't' looked back.

The thing I love about the Stealth amps in the Axe FX, just like the real amp, is how STIFF it is. There's not a lot of sag in those amps and it makes just about any guitar incredibly tight. It's not for every genre, but damn it's fun. Love the riffs, Leon!

I like the cigar face analogy more than the pulling weed faces Leon.. probably cause the hardest job I did as a 16 year old was pulling 3 and 4 foot weeds outta the bean field..that was harder than baleing hay .. and then another hard bean job of being inside a bean silo shoveling beans away from the conveyer belt ... Are you back from your vacation so soon. If you are I got just the thing for you to do with your time ... Just what a guitar rock musician needs that if you get into or when actually we probably won't hear from you for months.. you are going to lock yourself away like vai did making passion and warfare... That is assuming you made it back to your hotel room and back home without too many groupies to toss out in the mornings. Lol ...this little heavy metal surprise package I ran across is worth it's weight for a ton of non ending inspirational riffing... Lupin will love em while eating his favorite cat 😺 🍪 ..... You two will be eating steak and lobster from now on 🦞 🥩...... You'll be some mean eaters for sure ... 🐊

Your sound at 3.19 is orgasmic. Love it. I totally agree, if you have a sound you love, don't let anyone try to tell you any different. The best way to learn, is to be inspired by your sound imho.

I've definitely learnt a lot about how these iconic high gain amps react with further boosting or overdrives added to them, there are a handful of high gainers in my boss ir-2....but been fun pushing them with an overdrive, just to hear how each amp changes.

Try these models with the stock Broderick IRs. It is crazy good. I blend the 103 C Off-X with the 103 CE.

I’ve been using the stealth red through a ggd Mesa IR boosting with either the klon or the precision drive, I can’t quite remember - this is for a heavy power metal thing and it works so well!!

I enjoy them both but for head crushing at gigs, I use the red model. I do admit that I am booting this amp externally with a pedal that I have been after for awhile now. I secured a KHDK Gojira boost pedal and let me tell ya.......I truly believe that Joe Duplantier from Gojira specifically made this pedal to boost this exact amp completely. So my Burny goes into the pedal, into the Axe III loaded with your TV Mix7 cab as always, and I get more praise for my sound than I have ever received in my guitar playing life. Thanks brotha, for all you do and the time it takes to share content with all of us. Ragdoll ever get's to Arizona, let's hang as I have a guitar that Gary Moore personally gave me that I would like to have you check out and maybe play a few songs on it 🙂🙂🙂

leaning towards RED , Sounds Great with my SG . And never really been a 51 kind of guy but could easily use this !. Cheers

I took your settings from RED channel (with less reverb, less delay and volume at 4) to see how that sounds on my Viper with EMG's but I've swapped boost with....Face Fuzz (4 Gain, 7 tone). Blew my head off!

I used the 5153 Red channel model for my song Astra Eterna. It's the best lead guitar tone from the world's best guitar soloist.

I haven't put much time in on most of the other 5150s, but on my 6505+ I always had to keep the presence around 9 or higher or it would just sound murky. I figure the whole 5150 family shares certain common elements like that, generally whenever I've plugged into a different variant my usual settings got me close. As for too much gain, I would typically keep my gain cranked and my mids scooped, but something about the voicing of my rig kept it sounding good, to the point that some of the other local guitarists whom I greatly respected would compliment my tone. That always makes ya feel good, doesn't it?

Helix needs to get on it and give us some EVH flavors. Would love to see an EVH shootout with ToneX and Fractal. Your next idea?

I keep reminding the boys to try out this. They're currently using dual amp set up of the Diezel VH4 and Engl Powerball which sounds insane.

That sounds so good... I need a stealth... Is there such a thing as to much gain ? 😅.

Recently got a Fractal FM3, I like it a lot but for some reason, when comparing your sound with mine at the same settings, there's so much more gain coming out of your FM3. My guitar is a HSS strat with seymour duncan JB pickup (500k pot). Any idea of what the issue may be ?

The Stealth is about the only amp that is on my current list of 'want to try'. Friend of mine has a real one, need to check that out stat. Question: do guitar face go to 11 as well?

what is your opinion on reverb 75% decay time, and 40% in the mix?
