Narrowboat Life - Lest we forget. Ep53

This week, we take a short cruise back on the Grand Union Canal, visit a church that has over 3000 hand-knitted poppies for Rembrance Day, Amastice, and walk to Chesterton Windmill which overlooks the Roman Fosse Way. We grab some much needed fuel from a passing fuel boat and Paul cooks up a delight.
We hope you enjoy this week's vlog and continue to join us on our Narrowboat adventures and life livong on a boat full time in the UK. Next week we will be revealing our narrowboat winter journey plans.

I remember back to when you were getting ready for this adventure and Liz said her biggest fear was one of you would love it and one might hate it. You are both naturals, your commitment the boat and your dedication to the fit out shows and you deserve all the fun you are getting out of cruising. Love my weekly dose of Liz, Paul and Ernie.

Thanks Jean. We both have fell in love with this lifestyle despite the weather turning and it not all being easy sun filled days it's a real joy to be able to experience this way of life and right now neither of us can imagine going back to land living 😀

Hi Glynnis. Thanks, I'm much better now, took a while to shift that cold but all good again now. Ernie has learnt that each boot can be flicked off in each direction when he runs fast🤣 The poppies were amazing and we were told that the ladies that came together to knit are now lifelong friends 😊

Yup definatley paul on the dance floor, very 1980's moves. You been doing this how long Paul and ya still forget the ending lol :) Loved the poppies very beautiful, village life you can't beat it. Keep warm guys its gonna get cold soon. :)

Hilarious 😂😂😂 Thanks for another great video, we really enjoyed it, if you are stuck indoors and struggling for ideas how about a vlog on the compoost toilet? Be interesting to hear how you are getting along with it, it seems a much better proposition than a cassette toilet Take care the both of you Jane & Martin.

We are loving the compost toilet, so much better than the cassette toilet we had. Yes maybe we will add that in a vlog in a few weeks time. 😉

Ha ha he actually quite likes them now and they really help with keeping his paws from getting sore and wet. He has learnt that at high speeds they can be flicked off in every direction though 🤣

Love your vlogs . I wouldn't have anything on your roof that you don't mind getting stolen. Bikes, rods and even mooring stuff are ones that get knicked the most. If you have a rail you can padlock the bike to it. Some even get solar panels taken. Ernie is so funny with his boots!!!!! Thanks for the great content. Keep warm from Lucy and #BotdogRollo, xxxx

Hy Paul the reason your electric power goes up when you prop the solar panels up is because the electricity runs down the cable easier into the boat 🤣🤣😂😂 Ernie was dancing with joy at his new boots and Liz was giving away secrets talking about the chips, other than that another funny vlog Enjoy you guys i am still laughing. Hi ya Ed. Glad you enjoyed the vlog, Ernie has now mastered running at high speed in his boots and flicking them off individually 🤣 Paul is yet to produce curly fries and as for secrets.....😉😀🤣

My stomach hurt from laughing at Ernie and his boots. He looks as though he is trying to get them off. I hope you didn’t get battered by the storm. Your coal merchant has a great surname by the way, same as mine😁

Hi Diana, Ernie has now mastered flicking each boot off at high speed in every direction 🤣 but actually they are a godsend, and when he keeps them on he doesn't get sore paws from all the mud. We managed to avoid the storms so far just a bit of extra wind and rain but we are all fine and keeping warm 😀

Hi Andrea. Ernie has now learnt how to flick his boots off 🤣 Dinner, was yummy despite not having curly fries 🤣. The weather has turned here and yes lots more rain and we are now on the 4th storm of the season already but we holding up we'll and keeping warm and dry as best we can 😀

Hi all, technical question. What size wattage are your solar panels and what amps are your batteries and how many do you have, sorry if this a boring question but getting solar and new batteries in the spring. Another great video very good content.

@davidday6838 Hi David our solar panels are 900w altogether I think. We have a 300ah lithiam battery. We did have 3 leisure lead acid but they only lasted 6mnths and started losing charge so we changed to lithiam. We find the lithiam works really well we have our inverter running at all time due to Internet and only find we need to run the boat every 3rd day when there is no solar.

There's a trick for the washing machine , tip hot water into the powder draw , it stops the heating element kicking in and using loads of power

It's really great Susan, we are loving every minute of it even now the weather has turned we are still loving the lifestyle. I'd say my only negative if I was to say anything negative is some of the tow paths are so bad but with the right boots and ernies boots we will try amd stay as mud free as we can 🤣😀

Yes agreed. Its not the boat that makes things muddy it's the good olde British weather which we would have tue same trouble with in a house 😀
