A&Z #1040 - professional eater Randy Santel versus Gabutto Burger's 55-Layer Japanese Samurai Burger Challenge hosted by Gabutto Burger in Elgin, Illinois. I had a 3-day weekend available thanks to President's Day in mid-February so took advantage of the long weekend by heading down to Northern Illinois with girlfriend ‪@KatinaEatsKilos‬ where we took on 3 delicious food challenges!! For event #2, we headed to Elgin, Illinois so we could each attempt the 55-Layer Japanese Samurai Burger Challenge at Gabutto Burger, serving borderless burgers and boundless creations. I had 30 short minutes to feast on a five of their delicious burgers from the menu, each doubled, so there were 10 burgers total. There were 2 different beef burgers, 1 premium shrimp burger, and 2 different chicken burgers. I was trying to become the 4th person to win my $60 burger meal free plus a sweet t-shirt, a commemorative samurai sword, and a spot on the Wall of Fame. BIG thank you to Ken and everyone with Gabutto Burger for the wonderful food, drinks, and hospitality!! Special thanks to everyone from around the area who came up to watch and meet us that February afternoon. Gabutto Burger's 55-Layer Japanese Samurai Burger Challenge in Elgin, Illinois ($60):
- Gabutto Burger serves up Burgers with Japanese Twists to the Elgin, Illinois community.
- This Samurai Burger Challenge was kicked off originally by my friends Joel and Raina.
- There are 5 burgers from the menu stacked and then doubled, so 10 tasty burgers total.
- The Gabutto Burger, Teriyaki Burger, Shrimp Burger, Carbonara Chicken Burger, and Thai Curry Chicken Burger are all featured as part of this challenge, equaling out to be 55 layers total!!
- Gabutto Burger - Original Gabutto Burger with Demi-glaze (Beef Stock & Red Wine base) Sauce
- Teriyaki Burger - King of Japanese style burgers! (comes with Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato, & Onions)
- Shrimp Burger - 100% Shrimp Patty Made from White and Black Tiger Shrimps w/ tartar sauce
- Carbonara Chicken - Crispy Chicken with Carbonara (comes with lots of healthy vegetables)
- Thai Curry Chicken - Thai Style Coconut Red Curry with Crispy Chicken and healthy vegetables
- There is a 30 minute time limit to finish the entire burger. Challenge costs only $60 if you fail.
- Winners earn the meal free plus a t-shirt, Wall of Fame, and a commemorative samurai sword.
- Note: you can order this big burger for friends and family to split, but it will cost around $100.
