After reviewing 555 timers and their monostable configuration, in this tutorial we go over the second of the three common 555 timer configurations, the bistable multivibrator configuration. Josh reviews the bistable configuration, talks about how boring it is but still explains in great detail, moving step by step, explaining what happens internally to the 555 timer. He finishes up with a real life example using a 555 timer on a breadboard that's hooked up to an oscilloscope, showing the expected behavior in real life.
