You and I are very similar. I was a jazz major and also shoot nature photography. I believe we have a mutual friend in David Akoubian. Who helped mentor me in a one of my deals. Huge fan…

The 'Coleman Hawkins Encounters Ben Webster' album is fantastic, and i doubt there will be a better version of this album. Listening to Hawkins and Webster, plus Lester and Dexter etc, this linage is essential to appreciating the later post bop players.

My question is where is the new jazz artists?? Did new jazz music die 50 years ago??? Why is nobody with a jazz channel showing new jazz talent?? All you show are 60 year old reissues and buying music you have already again and again!! Just wondering why no new artists

point well taken----there are certainty a few hat come to mind--Emmett Cohen, Patrick Barclay, etc...they have some good stuff on You Tube as well-off course McBride is getting lots of praise, deservedly so as well as the young cats( and some older musicians) in Wynton's band(s)… Many have incorporated styles that I am really not fond of(Hip-hop etc.) into their music.. and yes there are a few rather good vocalists around as well.....something to think about..... Perhaps there are some reinventing the music like Evans, Armstrong, Ellington Monk, Parker etc... I tried listening to a Ron Blake CD last night that has received high praise and it just didn't cut it for me... but.... I will make an effort to talk about a few folks like Cohen, Barclay etc. Any other you think I should check out (Yes I do have a streamer too!0. THANKS for the comment.. always open to ideas to improve the channel---JG

Frank Rosolino didn't "pass away". Given what he did I can't listen to him.
