Because of inflation these cars are expensive to make. 2.0l 4cl are priced upwards of 100k. Imagine what the V8s cost. Combined with laws and regulations which put your entire fleet under a single emissions index, whatever the mass buys can't be a V6, v8 or anything else really anymore. So now it's 4cl turbocharged. These cars make 400+ hp, like on my GLA AMG 45s. So they're not weak by any means, there is just no emotion anymore. It's all fake. The v8s still exist but they're in much more exclusive cars now. The AMG GT 63s for example.

Making a 2.0 car make 420hp is more difficult and expensive than putting a big engine making an ok amount of power Sure it's an engineering achievement but an amg is not for lap times but raw power. It's all about emission regulations as you said

Not their fault, but yeah. It sucks they are 4cyl now. Blame the EU and their crazy targets. Before anyone says "BMW did a 6cyl". Mercedes has a larger range of emissions credits to deal with and they need those credits for models like the AMG GT. Models that BMW don't have equivalents for so don't need to save up credits for

You drive a lot of awesome machines but rarely do I watch from start to end like this one and still ache for more ! That 6.3l sounds incredible and was the last proper motor that company has constructed, powering everything from this to G-Klasse AMGs. The headers make it sound so much like my Camaro with Hooker headers does when stepping off throttle at high rpms👌

I loved the autobahn. I was able to go as fast as my Dodge Demon would go until the tank was emptied. Fill up , check the oil level, go again. Being from the Rocky Mountains, I never had to worry about hitting any deer, elk, moose, lions, bobcats, horses, cows, Mtn Goats, or anything of the kind while in Germany on the Autobahn. Once the wall came down, there was the concern of hitting east german cars in the left lane. That was a real concern.

The engine in these cars was the OG Thug it was meant to be, and a sore reminder of everything the new ones are not. What a gem! Edit: To ensure there's no ill-will in my use of OG Thug, allow me an analogy of people turned into cars. If a Bentley is to a Gentleman Racer, this is the built brickhouse in a business suit standing out front with an MP5-K just underneath.
