Hello Ty! On the jig saw you kept blowing your saw dust out of the way. That black switch on the right side is for controlling air flow from the cooling fan on the motor to the saw blade. Thus using the exhaust to blow the saw dust out of the way for you. The down position is off and in the video your switch is down if you flip it up it will help greatly.

You could always put posts at the end of the deck and connect into the existing rafters over the main part of the cabin. More head room on the deck. Just a thought

The Roof is better the way you have it Mike. Because when it snows the snow will melt and slide off towards the back less snow to shovel off the front porch.
