Episode 596 I got a power splitter / divider on eBay. This one is made by mini-circuits and is a good size that matches my other RF devices. This splitter is not resistive but uses an RF transformer / balun Be a Patron: / imsaiguy

Good morning. A power splitter/combiner 15542 from the minicircuits. There's a single pig nose core transformer and a 25 ohm resistor across the outputs. The capacitor at the input is to flatten out the response by nulling the effects of the leakage inductance. As per the data sheet it seems to be a 50 ohm system good up to 500 MHz. Then the resistor must be 100 ohm. If it happens to be a passive hybrid combiner/splitter there has to be an auto transformer with an impedance tap to feed the pig nose core transformer containing 1:2 winding; it brings about signals at either of the output with same phase with -3dB attenuation.

The purpose of the ferrite bead is to produce RF isolation between ports.....

Where did you find all those small boxes? Any left?

I think they are gone. was on eBay

I have an Eagle HPD123NF power divider. It is constructed with 3 female N connectors connected to a pcb with 3 surface mount resistors. It is specified for use between dc and 3.0 GHz. Eagle appears to have gone out of business and I would like to find a data sheet. I assume it doesn't make any difference which ports are used as inputs or outputs as this is a purely resistive design, but I would like to know the isolation and maximum power rating. Do you have suggestions? I'm not able to find anything on the web.

since it is resistive. measure it with a multimeter. center to ground, and port to port. if they are all the same then use any. if two are same and one is different. then input on different one

@@IMSAIGuy Thanks for the suggestion. I am still hoping to find a data sheet.

You being an RF Guy, I haven't been able to find FM 88Mhz to 108Mhz Band Pass Coaxial(F Connectors) Filters. The ones I did find were several hundred dollars and my project isn't that elaborate. I would think the usual mfgs ie Channel Master, etc would have them but they don't. I want to use them in a multiple antenna arrays in conjunction with preamps. Any suggestions ? Thanks, Surf City CA

No sorry. That is a strange filter. Most of the time people want to reject that band. The signals are so strong, no need to have a bandpass. You can build your own if you have the ability.
@@IMSAIGuy Perfect ! Thank You. I've got the small 'Pomona Box' so your suggestion and link helped A LOT ! wes †

A dumb question.. Can I use these to combine 2 antennas? I have one 2.4ghz antenna and on 5ghz antenna
@pendalink4 ай бұрын
If this is what you're asking, yes you can use a splitter like this as a combiner

5:15 What about outputs isolation?
@IMSAIGuy3 жыл бұрын
I should have included that. The sma one was about 17dB and the BNC 20dB. Still not enough for what I was doing. So I put matching 20dB attenuators on both outputs so I have 20+20+17. Still not enough, So I bought a coaxial relay

Cable TV spliters are built similarly and much cheaper so if you are wiling to modify them ...
@IMSAIGuy3 жыл бұрын
that would be an interesting experiment. 75ohms and UHF, can they extend to 1000MHz
@galileo_rs3 жыл бұрын
@@IMSAIGuy Those are typically rated from 5-1000MHz. I have a cable tv 30dB tap somewhere but I can't find it now, also built the same way (binocular transformer, some passives).

Hi big bro , Pleas new video a 'how to make fm trasister 10km range' .
@IMSAIGuy3 жыл бұрын
That is a bit vague. FM narrow or wide. audio or telemetry? what frequency? I assume you mean a amateur licensed transmission.

@@IMSAIGuy He seems to be asking for FM Broadcast transmission. Must be interested in broadcasting without any idea about the legal implications. But, I don't know for sure.

@@IMSAIGuy Yes, he needs proper guidance. He maybe interested to know more about the hobby of amateur radio. That should be the right attitude. I guess from his words, "fm transistEr 10 km range"... this is how the advertisements are made for the transmitter circuits being published in the hobby electronics magazines.

If you're interested in obtaining more components and modules for your projects, go to ohiomicrowave.com and look at my inventory list. Tons of parts on there, and everything is new/NOS. I'm really enjoying your videos. Keep them going. I have a nanovna, minivna, and tinysa. Ken W8ASA
