Yeah she's young and barring some horrendous injuries in the future shes got plenty of years ahead of her to become one of the best lifters in history, even now despite her age shes got both good power&technique.

Every time I see a Kim Il Gyong snatch, I think she's about to break her arms. Then I see her jerking 132 kg like she's lifting a feather and it blows my mind!!! She may not take the gold, but she's an exceptional weightlifter🔥

I love how passionate and confident Venegas is here. Watching her hold her 2nd and 3rd snatches up for an extra second after the down signal and then slamming the bar down is just awesome. Love seeing this kind of charisma from these athletes.

On her Weibo page, Luo ShiFang responded to her fan's concern with an explanation that she was hoping in pain off the stage after her record C&J because of muscle cramps on her forearm and assured fans that she was not injured. She was using her left hand normally when she stepped on the podium to receive her medals.

Yeah.. this world cup/last chance qualifiers are probably going to be the peak. The limitations the IOC has set, really takes way from the viewers by lowering the bar and field of competition. It would've been WAY better if they just let the top 10 athletes in each category battle it out.

Pei Xinyi, Luo and Venegas are extremely beautiful and strong. Magistris is very strong mentally and that will take her to another level, failing in almost all of her attempts and even trying again and again, it only shows the great passion and heart she has in her. 1:06:48 Just a bobble, but at he same time it was a movement with a huge range of movement. Especially visible in the replay you can see her elbow significantly move and bend. I agree that a bobble should not be a no lift, but at the same time there needs to be a limit on how much movement is allowed when wobbling. This was really hard on the limit for me...

@@docsmithdc That may be a factor too, yes. I'm generally of the opinion that testing most likely is pretty useless nowadays. But I agree that gaining access to countries like China or North Korea is most likely extremely hard if not impossible.

Edyhiun I agree. The men’s 61 and 102 will have 2 Olympic champs each but to have 3 in 1 class is unreal. I wonder if it will ever happen again. This occurrence is the only positive that comes out of the IOC squeezing weightlifting on the number of categories.

It seems kind of odd to call athletes from the same nation who are vying for one slot representing their country teammates. Diaz and Ando showed good sportsmanship of course. In no shape or form were they teammates. There was going to be a winner and a loser in their encounter. Teammates win and lose Together ! That is what the IOC has done to weightlifting. Call them countrymen not teamsters.

Rodriguez' coach and husband literally turned around in the tunnel to be out there and support Venegas... right after Diaz failed and it was clear that she wouldn't attend the olympics. That's teammate behavior. Maybe just don't take words too serious. They're used as descriptions to clarify what the commentators are talking about... and you clearly understood it. 🤷‍♂
